Considering getting a Switch for the fam (me, the wife and just turning 6 year old) for Christmas.

Do you think we might see some decent deals starting Black Fridayish? From what I can see, last year there were some bundles, but not much in the way of sales or discounts.

Also, any input on some must haves, or best young child friendly games are out there?

I bought my family a Switch a year ago. We're all very happy with it. My wife and I play games on it nearly as much as the kids do.

But unfortunately, Nintendo first party stuff - especially hardware - tends not to go on sale. Its extremely rare. Even used, its not much cheaper than retail. Keep an eye out for sales on games. Last year, I was able to get a few for about $20 off. Jump on these if you see them, because they may not last.

As far as games for your kid, it depends on what they're into. While my 7 year old is very smart, her 10 year old sister is leaps and bounds more advanced for games than she is. They take a pretty big leap in between for that kind of thing.

We all love Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Pokemon. My kids both enjoy Mario Party, and everyone except my younger one loves Zelda Breath of the Wild.

It's hard to tell with the kiddo cause of the age. Honestly he would probably like just about anything, but it's more getting games he can play at this point. Just started kinder and turns 6 in December, so he's not going to be reading through menus and whatnot. I heard Mario Kart has like a driver assist for kiddos though. Mario Party sounds like it might be doable.

He likes Minecraft themed stuff, but hasn't played the game, and likes typical kid stuff like Paw Patrol and whatnot.

In regards to Animal crossing, can multiple people play/have their own island just with the one copy - not at the same time obviously, but like could the wife and I each have our own space?

Very, very sadly....very.....you are limited to one island per Switch for Animal Crossing. Why, I have no idea. So you have to share and cooperate. It's mostly ok, but that's put us in positions of deferring to my older daughter sometimes since she's the original villager.

We got a Switch last Christmas. Love the console but as already mentioned it can be hard to find anything discounted. Maybe secondhand games but that's about it.

I would pick up a lot more games for it were it not for the price. If they're available on PC I can usually get them there for a lot less.

Yeah, anything I can buy on the ps4, I get the Sony version. We only buy switch exclusives via Nintendo.

My kids were all about Smash Bros and then also BotW and Hyrule Warriors.

Personally I'd like to try Fire Emblem but haven't got round to it/worked up to the cost.

These days I have a lot less time and money for gaming so I try to do everything at discount. I hate dropping £50 on a game and then not having the time to play it.

Check out A Short Hike and Lil Gator Game. Honestly can't go wrong with Pokemon at that age, either.

Looks like there are already Animal Crossing and Mario Kart console bundles at $299, which seems to be the base console price. I might go for one of those.

Several retailers also look to be offering some game deals such as $39.99 games or stuff like buy 2 get 1. I'm sure the brand new stuff is gonna stay at or near full price, but I might be able to get some of the older but new to me stuff at a decent price. :ffic:

Yeah I saw those sales go live today. I'd jump on any you think thar you're interested in, both for price and before they sell out.

None of the games my family wants are on sale yet, unfortunately.
