Go on with you all, before you start jumping all over me look at his numbers... 27 tds to 17 interceptions, 3,417 yards passing. Some of you have to be surprised. Numbers not unlike Derek Anderson's, wouldn't be a terrible option to bring in if he leaves Arizona and would probably be fairly cheap. Who better for Beck to learn from than a two time league MVP?
Dude, Tony Romo would be aweful in this offense. I mean that sincerely, not sarcastically. Its not a matter of bringing in a big numbers guy.
Warner is an older version of Cleo. sure he was good, but that was many years ago. I remember this season when Cleo got sacked in the endzone and I was screaming at him. Later that day, I saw Kurt Warner do the exact same thing. No thanx. Unless were talking Peyton, I'm tired of other teams leftover qbs.
But he is playing at a high level. Some of you guys amaze me, I'm not announcing him as saviour of this franchise, but he has to be one of the better options available to us outside of the draft. And to the guy that said anyone would be awful in this offense, does that mean we should not bother actually fielding a quarterback or what? You'd prefer we bring in a low numbers guy? I'm confused.
Parcells likes bringing in Veteran QB's his first year, he had Bledsoe and Testaverde in Dallas. So dont be surprise if a guy like Warner or Pennington our brought next season. Remember Penington was drafted by Parcells, and the Tuna is all about feeling comfortable with the people around him who understand what he is trying to do. God the tought of bringing Pennington almost makes me want to puke, opps I just did a little in my mouth.
Pennington is a very good QB in the right situations, but my sister has a stronger arm. The guy's intermediate accuracy is as good as anybody's. He wouldn't be the worst option, but I would rather we have a guy like Warner come in to compete with Beck, and then ideally serve as the number 2 during the regular season. Beck needs to be starting next season, but Warner could keep the team competitive week to week if need be.
He is in a FA year and everyone tends to perform better right before they hit the Market. Warner stunk it up with the Giants and Cards before, so I wouldn't be to happy about bringing him in. Would he keep the team competative, yes. Now, he would only be a stop gap like every other QB we have had.... I can't wait to we draft a QB and he becomes our Franchise QB.
That is a nasty feeling.............anyone miss Gus Frerrotte? He's the last guy to throw more TD's than INT's for us, how scary is that?
Warner has been awsome this year but he's under contract with the Cardinals for next season I believe and even before Leinart got hurt they were using both of them in a 2 QB system.
We could have (and should have IMO) picked up Warner when he first left the Rams. Our team is not going to be great next year no matter which QB they sign, but Warner is a tough, proven winner with a strong arm who happens to be extremely accurate. Lemon has none of those qualities. Cleo is a 3rd stringer who is starting only because the other guy got injured & the GM did not plan well enough. Kurt would have easily won the starting job in training camp if he were given the opportunity. I would hesitate to get him now only because he also has a history of concussions.
cleo should be playing arena football warner would better than any option we have right now we will not be starting beck or a rookie next year, so we will have to bring in someone
I've said it before and I still maintain that if Green wants to play next year and he's cleared medically; he'll be in.
I thought Trent played well, the rest of the team played horribly when he was starting. I think he will retire regardless...
Warner's not the answer. He's got 2 top-flite WR's in Fitzgerald/Boldin and had Holt/Bruce in St. Louis. Unless we do something with a trade or drafting, whatever QB we start is going to have a tough time finding dependable options as we lack a big WR target or consistent TE threat.
I don't think anyone is suggesting Warner as anything more than a short term starter or backup/mentor to a future Qb. I don't think he's that good but hes a step up from Lemon and woudn't be a bad Qb to have around a young starter if he can't win the starting job.
My problem with Warner is how long he holds the ball. He has made a career out of waiting until the last possible second and throwing bombs downfield. With our o-line I don't think he would be able to operate efficiently.
Warner's old *** would have been killed behind our line. He's a decent qb but our supporting cast isn't good enough. The problem is Cam tried to make his offense work with our players. That was never going to work.
Warner has the best two receivers in the league to throw too. With us, well not so much. My guess is that the Cards will try to retain him, as Leinhart has not proven he is the QB for Whisenhunt. We do need a vet, but I would be sick to see a guy his age starting for us when we could be giving time to Beck or another young guy to learn. If we were playoff competitive, I could see an argument for starting a vet. That will not be the case next year barring a miracle.
Warner won't be a free agent this offseason. If he was then i'm sure Parcell's would give him a look but no way he trades a pick for him. We'd be better off trying to get Green to return.
