Since this is a central topic on the site right now anyway, I figured a poll would let everyone see where our minds are at on this topic. Personally, I won't usually share my opinion until after others vote- but I'm making an exception here. My answer is a clear "NO"! Tua is one of the few bright spots on this team and while Watson is clearly better, I just don't want to be associated with all the sexual misconduct stuff. Hiring Watson would pretty much say that his potential charges don't matter enough and I am 100% against that message. I'm no saint, but I do try to take the moral high-ground whenever possible. This just doesn't align with any of my core beliefs.
No I don’t which means the front office will deem the entirety of the offense defense and special teams issues will be solved by trading for a player who will likely be suspended for the season next year Also for the record it wasn’t one women. This is 22 women saying he acted inappropriate (and I’m being nice) this speaks of your character and leadership values to me. I wouldn’t follow this type of person into the bathroom let alone a battlefield
Nope. I don't think we are close enough to contending to make that move, I don't have confidence in our front office and most of all I don't want to trade for a sexual predator in the year of our Lord 2021.
This poll needs more options. Like: AWWW HELL NO!! NO ****ING WAY!! OVER MY DEAD BODY! And ARE YOU FOR REAL WITH THIS ****?!
I'm not in principle against Watson as many posters are here, but it's a clear no for me as long as it's not clear he can play. Either way, I think this is all moot as I don't think any team will trade for him with all the uncertainty, and hopefully Tua can keep improving to the point that the cost for a potential Watson trade just doesn't make sense even if he's cleared from a legal standpoint.
Yes. Tua will never be the QB that Watson is. If the dolphins can get a definitive answer on his legal issues or have some kind of clause in his contract that voids the trade if he can't play, then they need to get him. How many of you guys saying that you don't want him are the same guys who didn't want Ricky Williams back after he retired? I doubt you'll be honest
I voted "yes" It's a football team, not a church choir. These guys are gladiators. No, I wouldn't want my daughter dating this guy but, I also wouldn't want my daughter working as a massage therapist to testosterone fueled athletes wearing a wash cloth. We've had presidents who bragged about being as sleezy as Watson is being accused of.
And with the 12th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...oh wait, they don't have a first round pick...they gave it to Houston for Deshaun Watson... And with the XXth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...oh wait, they don't have a first round pick...they gave it to Houston for Deshaun Watson... And with the XXth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...oh wait, they don't have a first round pick...they gave it to Houston for Deshaun Watson... If anyone really truly believes THIS is worth it, then I have some beachfront property in Arizona...complete with Unicorns, light sabers and rainbows with buckets of gold at the end I'd like to sell you.
Deshaun Watson was my absolute favorite player in the entire game just last season. With that being said, my answer as of right now is NO. Lets keep Tua, keep building, keep developing and remain patient with this situation. Lets revisit Watson when the season ends and Tua has been fairly evaluated. Also, by then, you would hope there is some clarity on the Watson situation. As of right now, I vote no due to there being way too many unknowns with this situation.
Yeah, can't lose all those valuable first round pics.........oh wait, the Dolphins first round picks suck every year. Let's see, get a proven commodity or take a chance on this team drafting scrubs in the first round, like they always do
I don't want Watson but I did want Ricky back. Very different things though since about 90% of the league uses cannabis in one form or another. Now, if Watson is 100% cleared and we have guarantees in case something related pops up- my vote's a yes if the compensation is fair. But that's a lot of "ifs" to get to that point.
Cuz smoking weed and sexually assaulting women are equal? That what you’re saying? People who didn’t want Ricky back didn’t want him back because they felt he quit on the team. How can you compare the two situations? And for the record I STILL want Ricky back.
Are the unicorns tamed or wild? That would really effect my offer since the tamed ones probably aren't scared of the lightsabers.
You think what Ricky did, a completely victimless act that is now legal a lot of places, is comparable to what Watson did? That is the most absurd thing I've seen in a while.
You're jumping the gun on the first round picks. Granted Noah I is pretty much a bust, it's just a tad bit early to call Tua, Waddle, Jackson, and Phillips failures. In fact, I think all four of them will work out. Christian Wilkins has also proved to be a decent first round pick as well. I think you just like to be nasty on here and complain. It's very toxic. Everything you post is just a cesspool of negative crap. I love how you compare Ricky Williams using marijuana to Watson sexually assaulting women and basically being an absolute weirdo pervert. I hope like hell we stay away from that type of character and that's tough for me to say because prior to all this I was the biggest Deshaun Watson fan in the room.
Has Watson been found guilty yet? Do you have some inside info? Did you read my post? IF his legal issues are settled and he can play OR we get some kind of out clause in his contract, it's a no brainer to get him.
Getting out of the contract isn't going to help much. They would be totally screwed if it got to that point where that would be something they wanted to do.
Well, that's something the Dolphins lawyers would have to figure out ahead of time. That's the only way id want him. Too risky any other way
Well you can't go all in on him if that is something that is concerning. Only reason you would want to cut bait is he was facing criminal charges and if that is any kind of concern then trading for him would make no sense. Now if you wanted to talk pick protections then that makes sense.
Yes, that's what I meant. If it turns out that he can't play, get our picks back. I know that's probably unheard of but I think this particular situation hasn't been heard of in the NFL. It's a unique situation
I don't care if he is found guilty or not, I'll never cheer for him or the team that employees him. Our legal system is weighted strongly against the accusers in cases like this. As it has to be. That said, I'm not a child or disabled, I can come to logical conclusions. It's a true "no brainer" to believe that there is a grand conspiracy of massage therapists against Watson. Which the only way dozens of women are all telling the same lie. That doesn't even get into to all of the football reasons not to make the trade. Watson won 4 games last year. This team has a far too many holes to trade $35M to $40M a year in cap space, and more than 3 1st for a QB that wins 4 games playing his best ball.
And that's what makes the world go 'round. You have your opinion and I have mine. Personally, I don't care about players character. I just want to enjoy watching my team play and win. And hopefully someday win the super bowl. If it takes a team full of axe murderers to accomplish that so be it
I suspect the cases against him are "manufactured". I still don't want him on our team. If he doesn't have enough sense to protect himself by not putting himself in totally unnecessarily risky situations, I don't want him on our team. Anyone that stupid or just foolish with his personnel life is just too likely to be that way on the field- especially at the QB position.
I dont think he assaulted any of the women. And i think hes been given terrible advice from his legal team. He should have gone Kobe and made a public statement about his affairs. If you had asked me this question back in January i would have given a definite yes. now im worried what all these cases means to him psychologically. I dont like that hes basically been away from football for 11 months. And who knows what suspension he will receive from Goodell. Who knows what other evidence there is of him, the police havent shared anything. so my answer is no for that reason… and even if all those issues are resolved… ima say no still.. we have already set us ourselves back by screwing up all the draft picks we have had the last 3 years.. if we start trading away everything weve got for deshaun, (we dont even have our 2022 first round pick, were gonna be offering 2023 and beyond) and it works out bad.. we are setup to fail for the remainder of the decade. And im not exaggerating that.
Like me, you have also been calling for Grier’s firing. So what do you want do, hire a new GM and let him come to the draft with nothing in his hand?
Anyone here starting to get hope that this deal is not going to happen? Maybe the Dolphins really do think that somehow Watson can resolve his issues by Tuesday (LOL). Do the Texans really want to pay him for this weekend's game? I just think that it is an inevitability that the Phins realize that Watson will not be able to resolve his issues. Essentially, at that point, we either accept the risk or break off trade talks. In my mind, going this far without making the trade is in-of-itself crazy. Why would you put Tua through this to not swing a deal? Geez, this has been botched on so many levels. I am holding out hope that this does not get done.
Watson has made it clear that he's 100% innocent and will not settle anything, since that would make him look guilty. And while I have no idea if that's true or not, I do not expect him to settle at the 11th hour just to join the Dolphins. You have to remember, he's getting paid either way and this is a nightmare for the Texans. I have no idea why they're standing firm with their valuation and not getting Watson's dead cap off the team ASAP. I expected them to ask for a single 1st by now- that would get this completed.
It was reported that the lawyers had discussed settlement so that is not likely to be true Texans have no reason to just give him away. I just don't see why they aren't willing to offer pick protections if that is what it takes to get a deal done this year. That offers the Texans some safety as well in case things going really bad for Watson.
Before his legal issues; yes. Now; no thanks. Just dont see the logic in trading away everything for a guy who wont play for who knows how long.
You have to have picks to give a franchise quarterback if you’re going to build your team backwards like that. Sacrificing 3 first round draft picks over 3 years and 2 second round draft picks over two years, how many Jake Longs, or Richmond Webb’s or Michael Ohers…how many Derrick Henrys or Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smiths…how many Jerry Rices or Calvin Johnsons or Mark Claytons do you possibly miss out on trading away all of those picks for one player? You’ll have nothing left to build around him and in the process, get him killed. I swear, if folks would listen to me, to include our inept front office, we would hardly ever lose a game. The Miami Dolphins would be THE powerhouse of the NFL. The rest of the NFL would see us on their schedules and dread game day
