Watson still faces 22 civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault and misconduct, and police and NFL investigations are ongoing. Are we really going to do this? The team must know something that we don't.
They (Grier) are in survival mode now everybody is trying to save their jobs. Wouldn’t really surprise me if it happens, but I doubt it is in the best interest of this franchise…
Generally you don't want an owner meddling but Ross has to put a stop to it if true. Not only is it a terrible idea for a terrible team but who would they even be bidding against at this point?
From what I heard it's a three way deal with Tua going to Washington? That's just what my jackass friend told me. I know nothing of this personally and honestly don't know what to think of it. Watson wouldn't even be able to play this year would he? I mean, this stuff is ongoing with him. How long until it's resolved? Nobody knows anything right now. It's way too big of a risk if you ask me, and after all this, if we don't even do it, then what? How does this sit with Tua knowing that the team doesn't even want him? This season sucks ***!
It sucks for him to be used as the scapegoat for a completely awful team but him getting traded is probably the best thing for him. But this isn't happening its just another example of this team being a dumpster fire. It shouldn't be hanging over this teams had 2 months ago and it shouldn't be now.
I agree, this is a terrible look for this stuff to be put "out there." Like him or not, I do feel bad for Tua in this situation. He's not even started a full season of games yet. I don't know WTF Ross or Grier are thinking with this. Personally, I feel like less is more with our current situation. We go breaking the bank for Watson who is in an unknown situation that seems to be nowhere near close to being resolved and it's going to get really bad. It would get even worse if Tua moves on and flourishes as a player. I don't like this at all. If we don't like Tua, then fine, so be it. But keep this behind closed doors. Don't have this out in the open as a distraction. It's very unprofessional. I expect nothing less from this joke of a franchise at this point.
Ok, that was my other question. Are these sources legit? I've seen a ton of them on Twitter. Bleacher Report is even sticking their nose into it.
For the first time since the Watson rumours started… I actually believe the deal is close. The Tua rumours are Running wild on Twitter right now. Lots of blue check marks reporting Tua to Denver or Washington. This never happened until now. I still hate everything about this move! Trying to extinguish a dumpster fire of a franchise, using a dumpster fire of a human being…. is probably not the correct approach.
If they make this trade, I’m not gonna watch this team until Watson, Grier and Ross are gone. This would be just stupid. The problem on Sunday wasn’t Tua. Our defense, OL and lack of a run game are the issues and our idiot GM hasn’t been able to address those with an avalanche of draft picks and cap room.
That's what i'm saying, this can't be true! I don't do Twitter, but I go there just to check this and there are a ton of people reporting it.
I’m with you. I’ll still love and follow my team but I’ll watch my adopted 2nd team…the Titans. I can justify this as our franchise quarterback is now their quarterback. Hey, if Pats fans can root for the Buccaneers, then why can’t I root for the Titans, right?
SD has become my 2nd favorite team because I wanted Herbert and they actually have a GM that knows what he’s doing. I’ll always love Miami. I’ve been rooting for them for 38 years. But I will not support a team with a QB who sexually assaults women.
This isn't fair to Tua. Hopefully by Houston starting this crap again it motivates him even more than he already is.
Or Ross just can’t get out of his own way. Houston salvages a bad QB situation and gets the #5 pick from last year and some draft capital. Ross gets the QB he wants. Idk, I just hope this is typical media stirring up BS but the Dolphins are in a bad spot and sometimes people do stupid sh** when they’re desperate.
Here's the thing- our offense is not failing because of Tua. He's doing well overall despite the line, the lack of receivers, etc. Plus, this move would make Grier look a completely incompetent idiot. I'll get to that though in a minute. If we are going to make a move this colossal for a proven franchise QB, now would be the time for Grier to do it. Why? Because he'll mortgage our future while trying to win now, and future GM's/coaches will be very hesitant to come to Miami. If the move pays off, Grier saves his job....if it fails, then it's the ultimate betrayal by a GM since it cripples us for years. Personally, I'd stick to Tua and let the kid develop. But if Grier wants to go out with a bang, this would be the ideal way to do it. His name will be infamous with the Miami Dolphins regardless (either Watson delivers us to Super Bowls, or it all goes to crap and we're ruined). Either way, he'll never be forgotten.
I 100% agree. Tua looked great last week and I can see how good he's going to be in this league. I really don't want to see him traded away for a Pro Bowl QB who might be in jail this time next year.
I don’t understand how anyone can think we are a qb away atm. Lets say tua finishes the year and hes a train wreck. It’s possible watson never plays in the nfl again. Whether you think thats real or not its a possibility thats still in the air. Why would you even let this regime make a move this drastic. They have literally built nothing on this team correct.
Is he though? Is tua that good? Before Jacksonville people wanted to tar and feather him. We wasn’t serviceable before Jacksonville. And we still lost. Jacksonville sucks.
What did he have before Jacksonville? One series against the Bills? The win at NE? That's all we've seen of Tua 2021. And you have to remember, Jax was his 12th game. He's still a rookie for all intents and purposes. We're just starting to see what kind of QB he could be. As far as what other people said/did, I can't control that. Some people just love to hate everybody that's not who they hoped our team would draft. But I'm telling you, Tua has the tools to be a very solid, very dependable QB for the next decade.
^I agree with Key's above statement. Tua has the tools and ability to be a very good QB. Personally, I see Drew Brees 2.0. It took Brees a few years before he settled in and became something. I really hope this is all just BS rumors right now. This is a distraction that we simply don't need. It pains me to say this, Deshaun Watson was my favorite player in the entire league before all this stuff came out. Acquiring him would have been a dream come true, but I just can't get behind the idea of this with the current situation totally unresolved. I mean, there's nothing at all, no clarity, no update, nothing. For all we know, he's guilty as sin. It's a bad look.
I could be wrong, but these ladies are in a civil suit for a reason. It’s not the 22 that’s so much a concern I’m pretty sure he’ll pay them off. The 2 or 3 that are criminal cases are the ladies who may stand their ground and seek justice. I’m not for or against Watson, I’m 100% for justice. But I’ve seen too many shady things happen when it comes to these type events. The case will simply end and Watson will go about his life like it just didn’t happen.
A trade could happen this week... And my wife could wake me up with one of her special mouth hugs in the morning...
Well, the deadline is in 12 days- so we should be able to put this to rest one way or the other by then. My hope is that we don't make the trade and Houston flat-out cuts Watson at the trade deadline to save money. Then pandemonium will ensue!
Note that nobody from our team is saying "No, this isn't happening." I didn't hate the idea until the all the assault allegations. Since then ... I think most of us are out. Add in that he likely won't fix the season regardless and this just feels like a complete disaster waiting to happen. But I wonder if it's NOT about this season, but maybe next. If Grier pulls this off, maybe it's what he needs to go in front of Ross and say "let me build around Watson, give me another year." If that's the case, I wonder if we will be active in the trade market both acquiring and dumping players. Lots of CB needy teams for instance. I don't think that it will matter. If they are working on a trade, it means they are already committed and one game won't change that.
The team won't say it's not happening because it sets a precedent that they will comment on things. They want the freedom to always maintain silence. It's stupid. But there it is.
If they aren't really interested at this time, then they are horrifically botching the situation. All they would have to do is say that they aren't actively in trade talks at this time. That still leaves open the option of a trade in the offseason if they stay sour on Tua while removing the Sword of Damocles that has now been precariously placed above the franchise. Allowing this distraction to flourish can't do anything good.
