Phillips has been ok, but he's not lighting it up like some other rookie pass rushers are. His sack today came against a tight end, not that impressive.
He was talking about all the draft picks we have made in the last two drafts and have yet to come out with a single star from any of those picks
Regardless of QB we're not going to succeed with any sort of building around anyone. This is primarily a leadership issue. Player changes are secondary.
He basically said grier did an amazing job acquiring a ton of draft capital for the last 2 years but didn't pick the best players with all that capital. Said the jury is still out on some but guys like Jackson and Iggy set us back. Something like that
He said a lot more than that. Basically he said none of our draft picks have been difference makers, aside from the outright busts.
Trade X and Byron… im not sure what the ramifications are in our salary cap by doing so but just do it.. our secondary is BAD
I was impressed with what he did in 2019 and 2020. But with the draft bounty spent and various free agent moves done, it appears they got the wrong QB and OL pieces. We can see how the season plays out from here, but failing on the QB and OL is more than reason enough to clean house.
That's a good summation of what Romo said. He said Tua still has time to be great. Phillips is gonna be good. He likes Holland. But, Jackson and Igbiginogene are complete whiffs.
I don't see Ross doing an in-season firing. He will give them the rest of the season to get Tua going and the OL patched. Well, it's Ross so he'll give them most of 2022 also, but it should be no later than the end of this season.
Ross definitely needs to sell, he has absolutely no idea what he's doing, and he doesn't even know who to hire that does. He's also too old for another overhaul, just sell already.
Seen it for 20 years and I'm so sick of it! The franchise is a ****ing joke year after year! **** u Ross ur a ****ing football moron. Do the right thing and sell.U are one of the worst owners in sports!
The problem with Flores is not so much his ability to lead.. the players like him.. his issue is, his ability to attract talented coaches. no offensive coordinator worth a damn is going to be interested in the job here in Miami..there isnt a high level offensive coordinator that is thinking to want to work with Tua and this offensive line… they want to succeed and be able to become head coach one day. look at what a painless transition the coaching change was for the Chargers. And this was after a very successful rookie season by Herbert. But the ownership there thought we got something in Herbert, we dont think Anthony Lynn is the guy to take this kid to the next level. In comes Brandon Staley and he brings a highly regarded coach from the Saints to run his offense. we dont have that situation here… we are stuck in the mud here
The difference between Grier and Flores is that Flores showed something last year. This year Grier took us backwards. Veterans cut. Draft picks made. Coaches and coordinators changed. Grier hurt this team. To the extent Flores was also behind it he should be held accountable, but Grier is primarily responsible at this point.
That might be Grier. We've had interest from coaches but lost then. Last season someone undermined our OC Gailey. Say what you will.about him but making Tua the starter without telling your OC? You can't do that. If that came from Ross or Grier then there's your reason coaches won't come.
Good summation, Grier is the source of the problem with his terrible draft and personnel choices, and Ross is obviously clueless to put him in charge. Our only hope is to fire Grier and lure in a successful and proven talent evaluator to run the organization.
I hope they lose in London. It will be better for the fan base in the long run. That’s so tragic to say.
So much for any pretense this defense is good, much less decent. That was just inexcusable today. That's two inexcusable games in a row, which goes directly to Flores. Only reason to watch the rest of the season is to see if Tua can somehow do well. Oh, and saying Grier is the problem is really saying Ross is the problem, and that's a problem with no solution. I guess we'll see if even Dumbo sees that at minimum he needs to fire Grier. lol.. we keep regressing. Usually one regresses to the mean. We just regress LOL.
No question Grier has to go but if this team can't at least turn it around to their normal mediocrity than everyone has to go. There just isn't any reason to run to Flores defense today. He shares responsibility for this disaster.
I’m just wondering what they were thinking cutting Van Noy and trading Lawson. It’s not like they had expensive contracts and they were productive players. The same for Karras and Flowers. This is a very young team but Grier has to know that him and Flo aren’t gonna get 4-5 years if they don’t win now. I would have been fine with 8-8 if I felt like we were moving in the right direction and needed another year of development. The problem is we’re not even competitive with the elite teams and we still don’t have an OL, a franchise QB and apparently a defense.
Exactly. It was weird. Grier has tried to get too cute too often. Ross needs to replace him. And the new GM might want a new HC.
Great example there of how you can go up against a team with a lot of firepower and still come out ahead if you have enough firepower of your own.
Thats a great example of a franchise quarterback. Herbert has killer instinct. He is always looking to hurt the defense and hes confident in himself that he can get any play off . So many throws he made that just demoralized you.
It makes me sick to my stomach that the idiots in charge of this team actually believed tua was a better pick than Herbert.
It seems as though Grier thinks he’s smarter than everyone else and tries to show it by taking players higher than they are rated and moving players seemingly at random. It hasn’t worked out yet for any of his moves (other than acquiring picks, which he then botches) and yet there are no consequences for him. It’s now to the point that former executives, talking heads, TV analysts - you name it - are all calling him out on his repeated failures, yet he still has his job. Unfortunately, we, the long suffering faithful, are the ones who pay the price, week after week, season after season. This might be the cruelest season of all, because there was hope, for the first time in a long time. Now, there is no joy in Mudville.
I know i will get flamed for this but i don't how my Black GM's are out there but it seems to me Ross is afraid to fire him for some reason. Not only has he been a bad GM he has been a bad scout for like 20 years.
I don't think his blackness should have anything to do with it. Ross is notorious for being too patient with previous regimes as well. However if Grier does not get fired at the end of this season at the latest, then all speculation as to why not is warranted.
I don't think it should either i'm just surprised he keeps getting promoted then demoted. All i see is a big smirk on Griers face every time i see him and i don't see what if anything he's accomplished.. Anyway i don't see anything changing soon with the way things are going just my observation.
So damn depressing watching upper level teams doing their thing with ease. Makes you realize just how far behind these teams we are. We complete a 20+ years pass and it's a major accomplishment while other teams chalk it up as just another day at the office. Sickening.
