we really have to get at Warner like we did Favre. We can't let him sit back and find Boldin and Fitzgerald or it could get ugly.
We should get a nice chance to see how our secondary plays this week. I dont anticipate AZ to run the ball as well as Jersey. Getting pressure on Warner is critical.
Yeah. Whisenhunt has a preference to running the ball but their running game is average with Edge. Hightower is a bit more of a problem but he's a rook so Edge still gets the majority of snaps. The thing is they opened up in the second half against the 49ers and had success so look for them to pass alot more in this game. You're right we have to get to Warner. Get in his face he becomes an average QB. Let him get comfortable in the pocket and he will pick you apart. This is a very beatbale offense. Hopefully our defense is up to the challenge.
3rd down is gonna be brutal. Look at AZ's passing numbers on 3rd down. 9/10, 5 first downs. But also 3 sacks. We will need to get pressure very quickly.
SF was getting good pressure on Warner during that game and I don't think their pass rush is as good as ours. Miami should be able to get into Arizona's backfield on a consistent basis if they bring their "A" game. Getting pressure on Warner and running the ball successfully will determine whether or not Miami wins this game. Gore had a very nice game last week so this could be the week Ricky and Ronnie run loose.
i AGREE. This is a winnable game for us but we really have to play at our best. The Cardinals are good enough that if we start making mistakes and penalties we will lose. We should be able to run on them and we HAVE to get pressure on Warner. We do that and play mistake free we win. We dont we lose
Creating 3rd and long situations is going to be critical. Which of course leads to coaches famous words, "Stop the run and run the ball." That's how this team is built! WR's HAVE to show they can play! Hopefully the TE's can keep pace with last week and get the running game going and we'll be in good shape...

Might seem random but we have to watch out for Leonard Pope. He did virtually nothing last game, but I expect him to be open a lot. We just don't have the depth to cover every talented receiver option the Cards have and if we focus on Fitz and Boldin, he could be wide open all day.

This is a winnable game but it will be a very tough one. I don't know who the team plans putting Will Allen on. Boldin, imo, is the hardest player to bring down in the league (aside from maybe Barber) but on the opposite side they have Fitzgerald. The Cardinals offensive line looked really good in pre-season if you ask me. I didn't watch the Niners game so forgive me if they looked terrible in week one. I'm interested to see how Ted Ginn does this weekend. I expect him to see Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie a lot because Cromartie is very talented and can matchup with Ginn. Running game will be huge as some of you mentioned. We have to kill clock and keep the Cardinals offense on the sideline. If we fail to do that, we may very well fail to win the game.
Shutting down Steve Breaston will be key. Fitz and Boldin will get theirs, but if we keep Breaston from making an impact it will keep the Cards offense from consistently moving down the field on us. At least that is what I think.
The keys to this game will be our running game getting on track and our defense getting pressure on Warner. I think we can be effective versus thier running attack, but must get pressure/sacks to give our secondary some help in coverage. If we can't pressure Warner he will eat our secondary for dinner. I think we can make gains in the passing game if the running game is successfull early. I also look for Wilford to be active this week and hopefully he will have a chip on his shoulder for not being active last week and will play well. That would go along way in helping Ginn in the passing game. Of course Ginn will have to run better routes and play more aggressive no matte what the "#2" WR does.
I didn't see that comment. I thought they seemed like an ok group of fans. Better than some other fan bases that shall go unnamed. One of the responses to that "which QB would you rather have" thread had me chuckling. They got some clever guys over there. Reminds me of this board.
I noticed this tendency on 2nd down in their passing game. They seem to favor passes over the middle. 6 of their 9 pass attempts on 2nd down were over the middle. Zero 2nd down passes went to Fitzgerald. While there were 4 to Boldin, 3 to Breaston, and 1 each for James and Hightower. This means that our linebackers are going to need to step it up in coverage. It's very important to put them in 3rd and long situations. Warner was 9/10 on third down. They only once had longer than 3rd and 10, and elected to run out of the shotgun in that situation. We need to play really good defense on 2nd down, thats my key to the game.
Here to talk a little sports with you guys. I will not pretend like I know your squad better than yours, but this is strictly an outsiders opinion. Match-ups Offensive side of the ball Qb- Kurt Warner is a very immobile passer, doesn't like to get hit, and has a problem holding on to the ball when getting sacked. If no pressure is caused, he will eat apart opposing teams secondaries as he did back in 99-01 with the rams. Last season NO QB had more TD's or as high of a QB rating in the final 8 games than Kurt Warner. Chad Peddington has been labled as a soft arm QB, that doesn't have the arm strength to deliver the long ball. If rattled, he makes bad decisions that usually lead to turnovers, or 3 and out situations. QB- Arizona Cardinals RBs/FB To discuss this in full is a waste of time. We have an aging back, and a rookie. You have TWO very good running backs, which most teams would take one as their starter. RB/FB Miami Dolphins TE- I will leave this open for I have never heard of, or watched your tightends play. As for Arizona, we play a 3 man rotation. First rotation is false start Leonard Pope. He is a 6'8" monster of a man, but has a problem with flase starts. His run blocking is HORRID and seems to have a case of the stupids throughout the game. Ben Patrick. He is our most complete te that we have. Good at run blocking good hands, and great route running abilities. We have good depth but not great at this position. I will let you guys tel me about the Dolphins TE's to compare this TE- Not enough information on TE's WR- This is where Arizona sines above the rest of the league in my opinion. Not that we have TWO Probowl recievers, but we have great dpeth behind them. Steve Breaston is our return man, and has started to SHINE in preseason and week 1 vs the Niners. He has amazing speed, and will get behind your defense several times this weekend. Early Doucet is a Anquan Boldin clone. His YAC are no where close to Boldins at this point, but he is a rookie, and looked SOLID through camp and preseason. Jeremy Urban is not one to sleep on. He runs PERFECT routes and his hands catch everything. He does not have burner speed, but makes up with crisp routes, and flawless technique. Sean Morey is a SP teams captain. He shouldn't be seeing much time as wideout during this game, but if he does, you will see a man that is all heart. Dolphins- Waiting for Ginn seems to be your only hope right now. He isn't setting records or creating double teams, but does make some plays with his speed. You are thin on talent in this department. WR- Arizona O-Line With a key injury to your RG it will depend on a back up to step up and play. You still have more talent than the cardinals here, but still have a long way to go to being a premiere O-line unit Oline- Miami SP Kicker/punter I hate Niel Rackers and our punter SUCKS, you get this one because I loath me kicker, and have Dirk punting the ball. If your name is Dirk, football wasn't the industry you should have gone into. K/P- Miami Returns/coverage I have NO knowledge of your SP coverage, but I do have knowledge of ours. This is a standout unit that plays all out every play. Breaston is a speedster and you HAVE to contain him. He will chew up 30 yards a return, and occasionally break one. The cards have a solid SP Sp coverage/returns- No knowledge of Miamis SP, but Arizona is dangerous here. Defense D-Line Miami has a solid d-line, but I feel lacks depth. Arizona has depth and some serious hitters here. Antoino Smith is nonstop motor and Darnell Docket was a pro bowler last year. He is a pass rushing machine. We have two injuries to our NT so we are playing our third string Bryant Robinson. He is solid, but doesn't hold a candle to Gabe Watson or Alan Branch. Both are doubtful this game. Our depth is great, but with key injuries to the front 7 this has to edge towards Miami d-line- Miami-due to injuries. LBS- Arizona is STACKED HERE. Bert Berry, Chike, Travis LaBoy, Clark Haggins. Gerald Hayes, Karlos Dansby, monty Biesel. We have solid depth, and one of the most underrated linebackers in the game in Karlos Dansby. Our depth beats your starters, but you starters do have talent. LBS- Arizona secondary- Both teams are weak here, but Miami is al ittle worse. Our safety is the best if not second best safety in the league in Adrain Wilson, but Rod Hood (cb), Eric Green (cb) are very risky when it comes to the long ball. DRC is fast. He reminds me of Ricky Williams when he was a roookie running tosses to the outside. His football speed is mazing and he is looking to be a shutdown corner in the league in a few years. Antrelle Rolle is playing FS after switching from CB. He has played on gae there, and was the key factor in Gores 41 yard touchdown run. You will have to exploit him to have a chance here. Travis Laboy- Chike Okaefor- Karlos Dansby-Gereld Hayes-Clark Haggins- Calvin Pace was a back up to chike okaefor last season, he played due to an injury to chike, who is better than pace. We are solid at linebacker.
I expect we'll have 1 turnover this week. There will be some communications problems with the O-line at some point during the game. We had them last week and those guys had played together for the basically the whole preseason, and we played them alot. Now we have another new guy, and we face a team that provides multiple formations and personnel groupings to align like a 3-4 sometimes, whilst they play a 3-3-5 formation. Have to know who is where, and watch Wilson on the back side as he enters the box to give them a 3-4 look in terms of personnel positioning.
i'm with you brother. we need a top-tier WR so bad right now it hurts. who is actually accessible that we'd want to give up a pick for? Boldin & Roy, IMO. I'll take either honestly.
