Its too late to back out for the year. The deadline was a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure that the league did the timing of that on purpose, which is great.
How is it great? It’s not great at all for the league if a player like Hopkins threatens to retire which is what just happened. Will he follow through? Probably not but it’s still not ok.
If he is opposed to keeping the league safe and functioning properly, then he's part of the problem, no matter how talented he is.
His brother in law did have heart complications after getting the vaccine, so I can understand his pause.
I’m not getting in to a political argument but I am of the opinion untrialed medicines with unknown long term side effects are not safe. Additionally the employer opens themselves up to lawsuits if you have a side effect beyond what basic over the counter meds can solve particularly if it creates any long term or serious side effects. Hard pass for me.
True… but you’re not weighing that against nothing though; you’re weighing it against the complications from Covid and its variants. The alternative to not getting the vaccine isn’t guaranteed perfect health; it’s potentially serious infection complications. To wit, what are the odds of Covid complications compared to those from vaccines?
Still, an employer doesn’t have that right and if they mandate it, there are repercussions. The virus isnt nothing but it’s not everything either if you have a good immune system, which id assume an athlete of Hopkins stature has. And to boot, as B4him stated, his brother had complications from the vaccine so there are clearly underlying reasons, some of which could include genetics, as to why he’s not getting it. And I support him.
There are a couple of Clemson FB players w/ seemingly strong immune systems— young top notch athletes and all— but that didn’t stop Covid from either ruining an entire season or driving them into retirement. Check out Xavier Thomas & Justin Foster…. And that’s before the Delta variant which is less picky about age.
So yeah, Nuk may have a brother in law who experienced adverse side effects to the vaccine (even though the actual complication rate is 0.4%, probably even less in healthy individuals), but he’s got multiple healthy Clemson buddies nearly ruined by the actual virus, original strain.
Nevermind the more adequately tested Hydroxychloroquibe works fine. Never mind it is not a vaccine since it doesn’t actually prevent you from getting the virus, it only makes it less likely to be serious. A vaccine is fully preventative. You don’t see people getting a polio vaccine getting polio afterwards. Nevermind that vaccines take years to test the side effects long term. And nevermind there is a possible link between MRNA technology (used in at least 2 of the vaccines) and cancer. Ignore it all and go take it. Not supporting that. Whatever happened to my body my choice? Or does that only apply to certain issues?
Hey guys sorry been traveling to Utah from North Carolina for my sons rugby tournament. Gunna pick. Sorry to hold things up.
No worries Sick. Dad duty comes first always. Too bad your pick isn't a Phin. We could have had a TD from Tua to Tutu!
You driving? What part of Utah? I’ve been to Salt Lake. It was pretty neat. Little different being out in Mormon country.
Not to spam this thread, but I wanted to see if any of you guys were interested in joining a single season league that I created. I set it up to have much more detailed scoring than any league we've had on here before, to reward the players who are most involved in moving the ball up and down the field the most (not just the ones who score), to make sure that guys who have a really big day are rewarded with bonus points, and with individual defensive players. https://football.fantasysports.yaho...1f402a1c855&soc_trk=lnk&ikey=0c31a44321e9cb5e
There has been a trade : Zeke and Destroy trade Mike Davis to MrTakesYoGurley MrTakesYoGurley trades 2.11 and a conditional 2022 3rd that turns into a 2022 2nd if Davis finishes as RB18 or better in scoring.
Cool! That makes three of us. I'd like to get 10. I set up the draft for a month from now, but we can adjust that for whatever works.
3-0 yesterday. Championship rounds today! My son scored 2 long tries. So was pretty awesome day. Hope they win the medals today!
we flew. We rented a car and went into park city for Olympic park and dinner. It was breathtaking. it’s huge in the junior ranks! This tournament is the North American Invitational 7s. We have u23 to u14 tournaments this weekend. Boys and girls. My sons club boys and girls middle schools were both ranked number 1 this season and our boys got 2nd in the national championship in Cleveland. We want revenge today! I think there’s a total of 75 boys teams and 45 girls teams from all over North America here. We play Guam this morning!!! It’s amazing. Hopefully rugby is on the rise in the states. Will make the game better!
Hey just an update - WE WON!!! 14u North American Invitational gold medal champs! 6-0 in the tournament. A small club team from Charlotte NC beat academy teams from Guam, Utah and California. We won the championship 33-0! So proud.
