Was just having a think about the uniforms again and was reminded how much I don't like the all aqua variation. To me, this... ...looks like this: A quick reminder of how the different uniforms looked last year: So, no full-aqua last year, and no orange either (partial or full). But, we'll no doubt see the full aquas back at some point, and maybe some orange too. And rather than the variation we've seen recently...: what occurred to me is that maybe a second aqua/blue tone might look better. What second tone? The one from the logo. Here it is: See that lower, second tone of blue? What if the Dolphins used that as either: 1 - A secondary highlight or tone in the full aqua variant 2 - Or as the primary blue for the bottoms, with an aqua top (light top, darker bottoms, each with the other appearing as highlights for consistency)? I'm no graphic designer so I can't do those fancy Photoshop mock-ups or even do an adequate modification of the simpler designs, but here's what we've got right now, and then an attempt of what a variant might look like: Current: Mock Ups: Not great, I know. I just don't like the plain, all aqua uniforms. But maybe I'm alone and everyone else loves the Miami Dolphins: Scrubs edition. ??
All aqua is ugly, a two tone aqua would be atrocious. All white is their slickest and classiest look. Any variation of white is fine with me. I don't want them to look like the Seahawks or a third rate college football team.
On one hand, the darker shade of aqua in the pictures would be awesome to switch back to from the pastel shade that we have. And I'm not opposed to going all aqua on principle......but mixing two different shades of aqua absolutely does not work for me in any way whatsoever. By in large, I'm a big believer in a team having a primary color, a secondary one, and then either black or white. That's it. Full stop. IMO, the teams that go away from that almost always look not only bad, but embarassing.
Well, if you get far enough off the coast (beyond deepsea fishing range) that darker color is what you will see most of the time, unless it is nasty, and then it turns gray and ugly! If you get far enough off and the sun is just right, that dark blue goes on forever!
Most of my trips to the ocean have been in Virginia and NC, and the water is always just a dark blue there. It would be cool to see the ones in the Tropics some time.
Throwback styling (fix helmet emblem), NO aqua pants, ever, and I'm good. A variant with a blue jersey for an occasional change would be nice...kinda how they did the orange jerseys for a while. That blue is a nice color.
I really liked the all aqua back in like the Ricky Williams time period: Different material and manufacture, just looked sleeker and had some pop to it. The current all aqua is just kind of bland and boring. The aqua tops and white bottoms are my favorite of the current looks. Not a big fan of the all-whites, it's just so generic to every team. I like our unique colors and want them featured. That includes the orange variations. Bring on the color!
The change in materials has just been an absolute disaster with all football uniforms lately. The colors are off, and most of them just look like generic knock offs now.
Agreed. And beyond poor design and taste, which many new ones have, they often have the look of a poorly rendered video game with bad lighting. They just look flat, with no texture. Between the new materials, not showing the colors properly, being too reflective in sun, how tight many of the players wear the jerseys now, and the smaller pads, and its just a bad look.
As far as I'm concerned, these are the Dolphins uniforms. Anything else is temporary until we go back to this look. The throwbacks are ok, but they're the wrong color. And I prefer solid socks.
Please, please, stay away from the all orange/yellow mess, I shouldn't have watched that game, I think I sustained permanent retinal damage. Even now if I blink real fast in the dark, I can see yellow blobs where the players used to be. I give Tannehill a lot of credit for refusing to wear the dayglo shoes.
Those are so disgusting. One of the darkest days (metaphorically, not literally, given the blinding toxic grossness) in franchise history. An embarassment that endures.
I strongly disagree. I think that every football uniform with white pants looks absolutely better with solid socks. As to colored pants, its a case to case basis.
Solid socks is just not American football. No uniform looks better with solid socks unless it has solid pants, and solid pants just look like pajamas.
Are you speaking of solid colored socks, or plain white socks? I mean solid colored socks. In both the NFL, college football, and all levels of baseball, I'm a huge fan of solid socks with white or grey pants. I am always opposed to plain white socks. I think that they're terrible. I generally dislike striped socks, but they aren't nearly as bad as plain white.
That just seem so unfootball. Solid socks with grey white pants? How is that even NFL football? Striped socks or it might as well be another sport. if my highschool gave me solid socks to wear with the uniform? Yuck! EVen worse when it is college and pros. Just looks not football.
Again, I don't think we're speaking the same language here, which is the problem. When I say solid socks, I mean this: When I say white socks, I mean this:
Yea. I think both are ugly. Socks should be like 1950s children, "Seen and not heard." Solid socks look terrible when there is a stripe on the pants.
lol, ok. We'll just agree to disagree. I think that solid socks give a needed boost of color to a uniform. Especially if the team wears both a white jersey and white pants.
Isn't this the game that got all of our offensive linemen cut? Or was that another year? I don't think Tunsil was on that line with the scrubs but I do remember it being against the Bengals or something.
