I've caught tidbits of this story on the Pat McAfee show and other news outlets are finally hopping on the bandwagon. Rodgers says he's done in Green Bay and will retire if he's not traded, and he's made a few passing comments recently about the Dolphins.

The most consistent "trade gossip" is Jones, Parker and the 2023 1st rounder, with Tua being dangled into other trade scenarios to be traded 3rd-party for some draft picks. Jones and Parker basically equal the cost of Rodgers, so the cap space works out.

Is this something worth considering? If it were me, I'd pull the trigger on that fast and offer Wilson or Grant as part of the package as well. But I would try to keep Tua for 3+ years behind Rodgers, and I think we'd have our "perennial playoff contender" to start this season.

    What are your thoughts?

Yes, I think throwing Jakeem Grant in the deal will get the trade done!

I also think Tua will be very happy backing him up for the next five years!

If I'm Green Bay I definitely want every overpaid inconsistent player Miami has on their roster as well!

Please put a "question mark" at the end of your thread title and maybe a "UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR" in parentheses.

    Thank you.

A trade for Rodgers opens a 2-3 year Super Bowl window. I'd give up Tua and a couple future firsts, plus a couple minor players to make it happen. I don't think Miami could outbid the Broncos though.

The real question is: Do you swing for the fences for few years? Or continue a methodical team build that might, MIGHT give you a Super Bowl or two IF everything falls into place? Neither path is guaranteed, but man.... it would be quite a ride with Rodgers having something to prove to Green Bay.

BTW, once you have to give Tua $40+ million a year? The Super Bowl window gets mostly shut. See the Seattle Seahawks for example. So any talk about 'giving up on long-term success for a couple years of Rodgers' is not so cut and dry.

Couldn't you just put "See Packers" instead of Seahawks since the Packers haven't won a Superbowl with Rodgers since 2010? Back when his cap # was around 6% of the salary cap?

Rodgers is a known womanizer and has his eye on a career in Hollywood. His head is not into football anymore. Pass. I'd rather keep Grant.

This isn't happening anyway so the talk is moot, but if it were realistic I wouldn't give up much. Rodgers isn't Watson. He's 37 years old. So maybe only a 2-3 year thing. I would do a straight up Rodgers for Tua and maybe a few mid round picks but nothing else. Can't mortgage the future here with high draft picks or other key players for a 2-3 year window.

Well, they've been to the playoffs most years and the NFC Championship game 3-4 times since that SB win. Like the Marino years, you always feel like there is a chance, despite not having a complete team around your QB. I don't see Tua as that kind of, 'carry the team' QB that Marino was or Rodgers is now; once Tua impacts your salary cap in a big way your SB window is mostly closed.

So if Rogers is upset GreenBay isn't drafting first round talent to help him why would he go to a team that gives up multiple future first round picks to get him?

Because they already have the talent on offense? Miami is LOADED this year on offense (as long as we don't have to run the ball) and the defense is good enough -especially being built to play with a lead. Rodgers wants a team to make all the moves for short-term success, like the Bucs have done for 2020 and 2021. Try to win it all now and worry about the future later.

In other words, Rodgers wants a team to act like the Bucs have for Brady. By the time the team is feeling the loss of those first round picks, Rodgers will be retired (hopefully with another ring or two).

    No.

I've been a Rodgers advocate for years and, in terms of ability, I still rate him as one of the best in the NFL, if not the best.

But I'm tiring of his attitude. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the Packers have failed him left and right. But it seems like every year there's some gripe. Would that stop in Miami?

    I wouldn't bet on it.

    I'll pass, thanks.

No need to worry, I'd give it a 5% chance of Rodgers ending up in Miami, at best.

Didn't Brady play for 25 million and i believe took even less this year so they can acquire better talent around him? I find it funny the talk is about Green Bay giving Rogers even more money to make him happy which would mean even less talent around him. Either way i hope Miami wants nothing to do with this S%$t show.

    I can't believe these odds:
    https://www.sportsbook.ag/sbk/sportsbook4/nfl-betting/aaron-rodgers---next-team.sbk

It's 10/11 odds against Rodgers staying in GB. That means they think there's only a 52.4% chance he stays!
It's 5/4 odds against Rodgers going to Denver, by far the most likely destination other than GB. That's a 44.4% chance.
Dolphins are at 50/1 so just under 2% chance.

So it looks like it's GB vs. Denver. Still can't believe it's that low for GB.

Yeah...I mean the guy just won the MVP award of the entire league. Clearly he just isn't focused on playing football anymore. Since you seem to know him so well, care to tell us what really happened with Danica?

I sure would trade for rodgers if we could get him for our 20232 and 2023 first rd picks. With these new weapons on offence we are a legit SB contender.
But in the real world I would say we have about zero percent chance of this happening.

Tua doesn't impact the salary cap in a big way unless he becomes that type of QB.

At this point in his career you have to be skeptical if his heart is into the game especially when he's had a little taste of Hollywood, he might be more focused on his life after football.

To be honest, I lean towards Rodgers in that situation.

My problem is that, at his age, it won't be guaranteed that Miami will get a good year out of him this season. Add the fact that Green Bay is going to ask for a lot in return... I don't think it'd be worth it.

Sounds like Rodgers’ main beef is with the GM. If the Packers really want to keep him, the could fire (or reassign) the GM to keep him happy, but that would open Pandora’s box for the rest of the NFL.

Rodgers beef is the GM did not keep him informed before drafting Love. Other lesser QBs had been given the same courtesy. A big family blow-up over nothing where you stop talking because of pride.

Rodgers texted Pat McAffee a few days ago and said that none of the rumors out there are true- he hasn't made any final decisions yet. From the tone, it felt like staying in place in GB, being traded or just retiring are all still on the table.
