This is the only player i knew for a fact the dolphins wanted. So, much smoke on this guy the whole draft process. I never thought he would go 36 but i know what people to look at now for inside information on the dolphins.
Nothing to do with the pick but i find it funny when these guys get drafted they say they'll play anywhere to help the team!....Ok i heard that one before.
Do not worry. Duck season ticket holder, the guy is an all out baller. Ducks really missed him when he opted out. Very happy to see him as a Phin. Think he can be an anchor.
This is my favorite pick of the draft so far. Not that it's been competitive for my favorite pick/place value. I feel like I been shouting from the rooftops for awhile "Hey why aren't the Dolphins ever looking for a dominant safety." Haven't had one since Reshad Jones who was drafted in the 3rd I believe.
I'm really not surprised that this has turned into a defensive draft- we were solid on D last year, but the goal is to be truly elite and we're drafting Flores-type players. Can't complain grabbing the top safety in the draft to work into that already talented secondary.
Completely agree. We are 1-2 players away from being elite on defense. Play to your strength and bring our offense along.
So excited! My Favorite pick of the draft. He's going to be special. And due to the rule change he should be able to keep #8, which is my favorite number. And he's Canadian so the Mrs will be cheering for him. And, and, and
I'm excited about Waddle but this may be my favorite pick as well. He fits our defensive philosophies to a tee and adds another ball-hawg with great hands to the secondary. It's a piece we've been missing in an already powerful secondary and I think he's going to pay huge dividends over time. To me, this is starting to feel like a Super Bowl roster if all the chess pieces come together as expected.
I think we'll look back on this pick in a few years and really see a promising result. Little concerned on his size, but his cover ability and ball skills seem to make up for that. With Rowe/McCain not getting any younger or cheaper this pick makes total sense to me. The DB room is quite full though so it'll be interesting to see who stays and who goes.
Maurice Jones-Drew names Dolphins' Jevon Holland most versatile player in NFL Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports Kyle Crabbs July 1, 2021 8:26 am ET Quick! Name some of the most versatile players in the NFL. Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu is a great choice. So, too, is Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. And, if former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew is to be believed, Dolphins second-round safety Jevon Holland deserves to have his name on the list, as well. Jones-Drew picked Holland during a segment on “Good Morning Football” as his choice for the NFL’s most versatile player despite Holland not taking any snaps in a game just yet — quite the testament to how much Holland is capable of and, as Jone-Drew points out, how highly the Dolphins are regarding him through the very early portions of his career thus far in South Florida. Jones-Drew, who has worked with Holland, cited his experience with the rookie as a reason for choosing him in this exercise. “I’m gonna go with the Miami Dolphins second-round pick Jevon Holland out of the University of Oregon. Now, I coached him in high school and this is why I brought him up because he was our best DB and our best WR at that point but it was just high school,” Jones-Drew said. “So then he goes to Oregon, dominates as a freshman. Plays safety, corner as we see here covering tight ends, inside linebacker, plays the nickel. They have him return kicks and punts.” “But then all of a sudden there’s this rumor out that if he had played in this 2020 season, that Oregon had a package for him offensively. Now that’s going to be like Charles Woodson-esque, right? Now all of a sudden you’re trying to get the ball in his hands. The Dolphins have talked about — and this is just me talking with some of their coaches and people in their organization — they have said he is just been tremendous out there. The knowledge of the game. They can put him everywhere. I can’t wait for him to show his versatility this year.” High praise from a highly accomplished pro himself. https://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/2...them&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter
Last year we got Davis in the second round and not a rb and bflow was over the moon on draft night. Last season I believe by the end was looking like a pro bowl caliber nose. This year we again didn't draft a rb (ppl say we were robbed...) but I think Holland was always the plan all along. Again judging Flows reaction I would not be suprised if this kid abs balls the fu*& out. Im super excited about this pick. I remember when I found out about the pick my first reaction was blah, I wanted a rb... It did not take me long to come around.
