Part of me is wondering if it's not Smith that slides rather than Waddle. Teams just can't help themselves over that elite speed.
Point well made. But as I said, they get paid a lot of money for this pressure. Dolphins are bout to have two of they're biggest draft capital seasons in a row in their whole history (as far as I know.) Chris already lost my faith picking Tua, and I'll be leading the pitchfork party. Beyond that we got two rookie tackles who seem like they could be solid. Like I said, the jury is still out. But I'm not feeling much confidence in Chris, outside of the fact that he's been able to wheel and deal us into greater draft capital. That's great! You got half of the puzzle Chris. Now please make the right picks cause I don't want to lead a pitchfork a torch party really. I want the Fins to win and win often, that's always the end game for me. Even when I am (admittedly) jumping the gun a little bit here. But then again I'm not feeling too positive. Ever since the Noah Igbinoghene pick I've been head scratchin and I don't got dandruff or lice.
Ok my apologies then. But I hope Fin fans realize that one single misjudgment could turn out to be even more costly(to our ultimate successs) than Culpepper over Brees. Oof, I'm really praying for Tua, because I don't want to live Culpooper time over again. God help us.
I’ve already had to make amends for that. Even though I wanted Herbert over Tua and didn’t really want Tua at all, he’s our QB and we’re stuck with him for now. All I can hope is that I was wrong and he turns into something. In the meantime, we need to build a great team for him or whoever our QB is. Franchise QB’s fall to good teams who draft outside of the top 10 in case he’s not the answer.
The clear immediate requirement is to provide Tua with legitimate help. I like having a stock of draft picks as much as anyone but trading from 3 is a massive massive risk. I fear Atlanta will take Pitts and Cincinnati will take Chase. Yes that's fine as it leaves us Sewell to help the line but again doesn't give Tua help on the outside again and if you believe the hype Pitts and Chase are two you really didn't want to miss out on. Waddle or Smith would be a dissapoiment.
Disagree 100%. Waddle has special speed. Smith has special everything else wide receiver related. I am fine with no Chase. He is going to have to change his game in the NFL.
I don’t think Smith is a consolation prize if we lose out on Chase, but man, I really hope Pitts is there at #6.
Smith or Waddle only really disappoints me in regards to the decision to trade up but they are still elite level talents at a position the Dolphins need so I will still be happy. Pitts is definitely still the dream
Hey man I agree with you. There aint no do-overs, and I sure as hell aint gonna change teams after 35 years... and couldn't if I wanted to... So I totally agree we are stuck with him... but remember... Grier and his staff made that move. I understand we have to make the best of it now, and pray that Tua turns out to be at least a serviceable starter... I'd say franchise QB but I just don't see it... He'll have to prove me wrong. But I digress. Like I said, I agree, the best thing we can do now is build up a monster beefed up offense for Tua to give him the best chance at success. And that's why I think we're going for offensive skill positions twice in the first round and I hope that's what Grier does (this Draft) but I'm usually dead wrong on my picks so this will be a nail biter Thursday can't come soon enough.
Seems that a lot of people are suggesting Miami would trade back if they can. I wonder if Miami shouldn't have stayed at #12 when SF gave them those 2 future R1 picks? I'm not sure why Miami traded back up if they weren't sure they'd get their guy. The only guy I think we know will be there at #6 is DSmith, so personally, I think that's who they're targeting.
I look at it and see a game of chess or high stakes poker being played by Grier. The trade back, then back up were calculated moves intended to put them in the "sweet spot" of the top 10 picks. Sitting at #6 I think they think they are in a position to either get one of "their guys" or possibly get an offer they can't refuse and still get first round value X number picks back. I also don't think they are targeting one specific player. I think they are looking at it from the angle of different possibilities or scenarios. If we stay at #6 and thus-in-so is still there but no offers, we take him. If we trade back to X, then we target these guys, and so on. I get it. Some may not, or may not agree with it. But, I do.
I do feel like they should have stayed at 12 and been aggressive on draft day if necessary. Unless they walk away with Pitts or fleece someone in a trade down in which case Grier played it perfect.
Both of those scenarios are possible. If Pitts is there at 6, run the card up and don’t look back. If he’s gone, and Lance or Fields is still there, you listen to all offers (except NE, lol).
So with Flowers being traded back to Washington, how do people feel about Sewell at 6 now? It's possibly increased the likelihood. I guess a better line arguably make receivers better if that's the plan they are working too.
