    1. Ja'Marr Chase LSU WR
    2. Penei Sewell Oregon OL
    3. Kyle Pitts Florida TE
    4. Micah Parsons Penn St. LB
    5. Jaylen Waddle Alabama WR
    6. DeVonta Smith Alabama WR
    7. Caleb Farley Virginia Tech CB
    8. Kwity Paye Michigan EDGE
    9. Christian Darrisaw Virginia Tech OL
    10. Rashawn Slater Northwestern OL
    11. Patrick Surtain II Alabama CB
    12. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah Notre Dame LB
Let's look at this from a different perspective. Above are the general consensus on the top 12 non-QB's in this draft. Personally, I think any of the top 6 names on the list are a genuine possibility- or even Darrisaw or Slater if the team thinks one is better than Sewell and we're dug in on offensive line.

So let's play this game backwards- why wouldn't you take someone listed above. For example, many have been negative on Waddle or Smith. Why? Tell me what's wrong with those at the top of the board.

    Good thread!

I wouldn't take the player because:
    1. Ja'Marr Chase LSU WR - ...Pitts is on the board or if I'm Grier and I prefer Smith or Waddle. Otherwise I take him.
    2. Penei Sewell Oregon OL - ...we need IOL not Tackle, or we need offensive players more and Pitts, Chase or Smith are available.
    3. Kyle Pitts Florida TE ... he's not on the board! Or if I'm Grier and see him as a pure TE and don't have space for him and I want a WR instead.
    4. Micah Parsons Penn St. LB ...a pass catcher is still available or I don't want to risk someone with off-field issues at 6.
    5. Jaylen Waddle Alabama WR ...Smith and Chase are better, and Pitts is more unique.
    6. DeVonta Smith Alabama WR ...Pitts is more unique or if Grier prefers Chase, otherwise I take him.
    7. Caleb Farley Virginia Tech CB ...We're doing okay at CB. There's going to be someone else who's great and at a position of need.
    8. Kwity Paye Michigan EDGE ...not good enough for 6. At 18, I take him if I can't trade back or up.
    9. Christian Darrisaw Virginia Tech OL ...Not good enough for 6 and we don't need tackle as much as IOL or other needs at 18.
    10. Rashawn Slater Northwestern OL ...as with Darrisaw.
    11. Patrick Surtain II Alabama CB ...as with Farley.
    12. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah Notre Dame LB ...not good enough for 6, and I prefer to trade at 18. I'd take Paye of Jeremiah. If I can't trade and Paye isn't available, then I'd take him.

At 6... No to all the defenders, just too rich for the position.

I wouldn't take Slater that high either, versatility imo is code word for "he's really a RT/G" and I'm not taking that at 6.

Smith and Waddle, I wouldn't hate, but wouldn't pass on Chase or Pitts for them.

Sewell, Pitts and Chase are the top choices, but I feel Sewell is unlikely.

texanphinatic why are you devaluing the right side of the line?
    We got a lefty QB.

Its not the 1 to 1 flip that a lot of people assume. In terms of positional value a RT or G is a horrific value at 6 unless they have HOF potential like Nelson a few years ago.

We took Jackson for a reason and we have Hunt. If we want a RT we can take someone like Mayfield in Rd 2 and likely get similar production as a Slater. Just not a value play.

I have to disagree. This would simply be setting up the team's quarterback for a shot in the back. Unless you anticipate or desire drafting another quarterback very quickly, that does not seem to be a desired eventuality!

The team itself would seem to disagree, thus why we drafted Jackson at 18 and play him at LT. Boomer Esiason, a famed lefty, was protected by Anthony Munoz, a HOF LT, not RT. That's not to say we should ignore the position, but Hunt played fairly well, and even if we see him as a better guard, we can pick up a Mayfield or Leatherwood at 36 instead of devoting the #6 to a non-premium player at a non-premium position.

    Darrisaw, more finesse than mauler.
    Koramoah, just too small

We might not make the pick. Nothing to see here yet because nobody would logically trade with us for #6 until they're sure what the Niners, Falcons and Bengals are doing. But maybe we'll see some activity before we select on draft night.

None of the defensive people get me excited at 6th.

Slater would disappoint me, though I do have to admit I do not know much about him.

Chase doesn't excite me. He seems like a typical lower 1st round type wide receiver. Doesn't have elite speed like Waddle. Doesn't look like one in a generational type athlete like Pitts. Doesn't have ridiculous skills at the position and drive like Devonta. I am not saying that I don't think he will be a great wide recevier, I just like the other three pass targets better.
