Yes, because that would have made the third overall pick twice as valuable since Wilson would be available. If there was a chance that the Jets pick Sewell, we either take Wilson or we trade the pick to the Falcons for a buttload of picks and only slip to 4.

Well that is why you trade to 6. Its pretty much the perfect result if you want Pitts or Chase as you can't go to 8 or lower and get them.

It absolutely makes sense if your target is Smith, Pitts or Parsons...#6 is the perfect slot to grab one of them. We definitely didn't move up to grab our 3rd choice- the person we wanted all along will be sitting there waiting for us.

Unless, of course, the Jets do something incredibly stupid...which can never be counted out. But I think our target is Pitts and he'll be on the board.

Not feeling that second trade at all. Rather have more draft capital, especially for round 2 this year.

Last year in a deep receiver class three players went right before our second 1st round selection. Possible that happens again with Smith and Waddle. But like last year there is talent available in rounds 2 and 3. Do they trade up if one is available in the 14-17 range to prevent that repeat?

Thinking at #6 Pitts with Parsons as 1-2 on the best of the rest board.

We're basically guaranteed our choice of Pitts, Smith, Chase or Waddle. I'm not big on Waddle, but I won't be crying about picking any of the others.

Lots and lots of Tweets saying the same thing right now:

    If so then:

    Lawrence
    Wilson
    Jones
Atlanta = Pitts or Trade back?
    Bengals = Sewell
Dolphins = Pitts, Smith or Chase.

    ?

I wouldn’t be upset about Parsons there either. You can’t coach 4.39 and 247lbs.

    Fleeced...sorry.

Dropped from franchise QB range, to non-franchise QB range (no, I'm not saying franchise QBs ONLY come from top 5, but in the draft, you know damn well how teams look at QBs in that range)...for two picks that are equal in value to a 2021 3rd and 4th round pick. San Fran probably LOVING their trade. Should have came out of this with a 2021 2nd round, or an additional future 1st pick in the process.

This trade tells me Tua has 2 more years to prove-it. There's no reason aside from expecting to potentially have to go QB in 2023 to make this trade, settling for less value than you could have gotten.

They must have been worried about the Jets dealing with somebody and messing up any chance they had to get some quality value out of a trade-down.

Sorry pal, lol. Wilson isn't falling to #3.

All indications here in New York is that the Jets are drafting Wilson. They're done with Darnold whether he had a fair shake or not.

I have a horrible feeling that the Dolphins are going to draft a defensive player at 6 now.

Hearing that the Eagles were interested in trading to 3 for Wilson, but they determined he wouldn't make it past the Jets, so they traded out for future ammo in case Hurts doesn't pan out. San Fran definitely wants SOMEONE. I've heard Fields, Lance AND Jones all get mentioned which is hilarious.

We got 3 first round picks (2020, 2021, 2022) and a 3rd rounder this year.

We gave up one of the first rounders (well, we actually give up our 2021 and keep SF) to move from 12-6. Essentially, we dropped 3 slots, will still pick a position of need at a better positional value and got an extra 3rd this year and future first rounder to do it.

I go back and forth on this one. Maybe I’m skewed from doing so many mocks where I trade with Philly and get picks this year and next.

Maybe the staff just feels the 2022 draft is going to be super weak.

To me it's like we got an extra third this year and future first to pick the same player we were targeting anyway. It's like playing with house money.

100% this. Unless we picked a QB or Sewell, I garauntee half the board would have cried that we "reached" for whoever we were targeting at 3. Now we can pick that exact same person plus an extra 1st and 3rd.

As someone who was totally behind giving tua more time and weapons, I'm loving this.

And besides, we now have so much future draft ammo anyway that we can draft a bunch of playmakers this year and if tua craps the bed then we can STILL draft an elite QB in a future draft. Wins all around.

What they are doing is giving us a young, virtually complete roster for Tua the next two years so they KNOW by the end of his third year. 4th year option will be picked up or not as an informed choice after he was given a roster that left no excuses, sink or swim. Basically the opposite the jets have done. Good stuff.

I’ve seen something where the Bengals are happy with their OT situation and may try to reunite Chase and Burrow. Slater seems a little high there even though I know some have him higher than Sewell.

Love this, more picks = we round out this roster quicker, presuming we make good picks. We're going to be picking twice in the first round for the next 3 years (unless/until further trades) that's amazing!

Not next year (2022) - we gave up the extra first to move from 12 to 6 this year. We will have an extra in 2023.

My bad I was going by the video. Maybe I misheard, but uh yeah, still good, still like the trade. Miami has more than enough positions it could stand to upgrade.

I'm almost always in favor of more picks (unless its a clear screw job attempt against us)
