No. There was a pick six and a punt return td. Still, way to many points to give up. But it showed what I was talking about yesterday or a couple days before, regarding Tua only seeming to be decent because he was playing behind the #1 defense for points allowed. Today they played liked crap, and Tua had to be the man, and he threw 3 picks with one returned for a TD, and scored one td. ONE. This guy is supposed to be the future, but he's laying down turds.

And because people have been bringing up Tannehill...there is a MASSIVE difference in how should be voting Tua vs Tannehill. Tua was supposedly the best prospect, so accurate, so smart, so NFL ready. Tannehill was a converted wide receiver, who came in incredibly raw, but with a very high ceiling. Tannehill should have been given time to develop, more than a guy like Tua. I mean, when were talking about QBs taken in the top 5, there's expectations there, especially when his peers that were not as highly touted as him, are playing significantly better.

The thing that pisses me off, is this draft there is no way we get Lawrence, so we've now got to spend so many resources to try to secure whoever the second best QB is.

If Justin Fields beats the **** out of Alabama like he did Clemson, I'm not so sure Lawrence won't be drafted #2.

Trade Tua, fire Chan Galey and draft a QB. Simple.

Honestly that game against Clemson was the first time ive been impressed with Fields.. he showed me something different than any other game hes ever played before...

what sucks is, Lawrence or Fields will be a NY Jet.. and our team will likely dtick with the Tua experiment

Go back to the games early in the season and look at his completion percentages and YPA. He played that way early in the season, albeit against poorer competition. But that level of performance is certainly within him.

I'm convinced that Tua was neither Grier's nor Flores' pick. It makes absolutely no sense.
If you just got promoted or you just got hired to your first HC job are you going to jeopardize everything by swinging for the fences and picking a kid in a hospital bed? Does that make any sense?
More than likely, Ross read the brochure, swallowed the hype and convinced himself that he was getting the "Generational Talent", the #1 consensus prospect for the bargain price of a #5 pick.
What savvy businessman could resist that?

Yeah, I agree. Even if you thought Tua was the guy...how do you legitimately take him that high after that injury? There's a reason that he was there at 5, and it wasn't because the Dolphins got lucky.

I've thought that from the beginning. I think if Flores had his way, we wouldn't have drafted a QB with that first first-round pick at all. Maybe the second one.

Ross will give Grier and Flores the green light to make whatever decision they think is needed, even after just one season

Arizona fetched a 2nd for Rosen, and his rookie year was much worse than Tua's.

Ship him out for a mid-late 1st (Washington, Chicago, etc.), pounce on Sewell at 3, draft Trey Lance + the best WR/RB on the board, and make a deal for Matt Stafford. You'll get a generational talent at RT, hopefully a decent skill-position playmaker, and playoff-caliber play from the QB position for 1-2 years before Lance is ready. And if Lance busts, go get another QB. The point is this: we cannot spend years trying to figure out if a guy is a franchise QB or not.

I'd be willing to give Tua a second-year audition, but that's almost entirely a result of my faith in coach Flores--not so much in Tua. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't fault them for moving on from him after one year, and the scenario I laid out above doesn't sound so bad to me.

At this point, I just want him out of here. We gave him a chance and he made it very clear through his play that he doesn't have the arm talent or the savvy to be an NFL QB. Okay, we took a risk and I'm all right with that as long as we acknowledge we screwed up and try again. Through our team's history, we've taken a risk on a QB and then stuck with them far too long when they've proven they're not good enough. We need to try again and keep doing it until we get it right.

No, Tua gave up 7, our special teams gave up 7 and our defense gave up 42. Still bad but that’s what happens when you turn the ball over 4 times and can’t do anything on offense.

It took Brees a couple years to develop, and that's the very best scenario for Tua -that he can be like Brees as a very accurate, undersized, and average arm strength QB. I doubt it happens, but it's worth keeping him around for another year to looks for signs.

In the meantime, you draft another QB and develop him too. Let them compete and if Tua is upset by that? Then you trade him off for a second rounder or late first. Keep drafting and looking until you for sure have your guy.

I think it’s important to remember that a lot of great QB’s weren’t taken in the top 5 of the draft. Rodgers, Mahomes, Roethlisberger, Wilson and Marino.

It’s clear that after today, regardless of whether you believe Tua is the answer, there is a big gap between Buffalo and us. I don’t care who we take at #3. We’d all love a trade back. But if you can land a franchise LT, game changing WR, a defense defining LB, we’re going to be a better team.

as much as I didn’t want Tua and how bad he played today there were many glaring issues. We have no run game. Our OL isn’t good. We have 0 dependable receivers. Our defense clearly has some holes and that starts with our pass rush.

We also went 0-3 against true franchise QB’s. The NFL is all about the QB and even if your defense is good, it doesn’t matter if there’s that big of a gap between your QB and your opponents QB. Especially when they have the weapons and the line to let that QB do what Allen has done all year.

I've heard all this crap before. "Give him more time, give him a better O-line, give him a better running game, give him better wide receivers..." Heard it for Jay Fielder, Chad Henne, Ryan Tannehill and now for Tua. We gave each of the first three multiple seasons to prove they could do the job and during those seasons, we passed up chances to get better QBs in favor of getting a supporting cast for the one we had. It has never worked because you don't need multiple seasons to tell if a QB has superstar talent. They may make mistakes, may throw some bad INTs, may have setbacks due to injury, but you can tell by their play that they're going to be special. Even Drew Brees, who someone compared Tua to, showed big-time promise in his lone start in his rookie year. He had to overcome what a lot of rookie gunslingers have, which is bad interceptions.
Tua doesn't have the arm or the field vision to be a star QB. At some point, after a few years, he may be a good NFL QB. Just good. No better than that. Not worth the fifth overall pick and not worth keeping us from drafting someone better.

Exactly. This was a team loss, yes. But, anyone who watched the game start to finish realizes that our piss poor offense is where the rot started. The defense got tired and eventually the whole team gave up and lost their confidence bc of how bad the offense was.

I think the other offensive players already lack confidence in Tua's ability to lead and win games. That's a huge issue. They all seem to like Fitz better.

Ive read long debates in 2002 on the other site, people actually debating who is better, Fiedler or Brady.. and i was just taken aback by the ridiculousness of that thread, me having watched what Brady was capable of winning a Super Bowl, and what he did in Michigan. Brady was no slouch in Michigan, he wasnt some guy who came out of nowhere just cause of his draft pick. He had the nickname “the comeback kid” in college..

Ive read the Culpepper Manifesto thread... there were people who were trying to convince us that Culpepper was better than Brees... that tri-ligament tear was easier to recover than a torn rotator cuff.. meanwhile he comes bsck and his footing was off and he was never able to plant that leg the same again..

they got it wrong with Henne.. there was a cult folllowing with Henne, they fel ij love after that bomb he threw to Ginn over Revis and never got over it...

it wasnt until Tannehill got traded away and saw his career on the line that they got it right with him..

And now the same people who debated in favor of Fiedler and Culpepper are out here defending Tua.. this cult following is here until Flores turns off that lights on Tua... and hopefully its sooner rather than later.

Let me remind everyone something, the 2022 quarterback class is going to be the weakest in decades. This is the class to take a qb, even if its not the first round, the second and third round qbs are better prospects than anything we will see in 2022.

    Very well put.
I was willing to give Tua a shot. I was concerned because of his injury, but I was willing to reserve judgement. I had no preconceived notion about his abilities as a QB, I was just worried about his hip.
But now, the evidence is there and the people willing to ignore it are indeed the same ones willing to ignore the shortcomings of Jay Fiedler. I remember very well the last time we went 10-6 and missed the playoffs. We had the number one defense in the league, the leading sacker, the leading tackler and the leading rusher in the NFL. And we missed the playoffs because of one man: Jay Fiedler. (Two if you count Dave Wannstedt.)

I see you're a man that struggles with perspective. Give Tua an off-season to get his body in shape or better shape, an OC who is in sync with his game and get him some God damn weapons that don't constantly get hurt or drop passes. What is going on in your heads? You're panicking.

I'm not 100% sold on Tua yet but I'm not going to act like a zit-face fantasty league owner and do something stupid on impulse.

For me it's not about being right, it's about doing the right thing, and the right thing is you don't panic and jump the gun. Name one thing Tua had going for him this year, ONE THING. He had an offseason that mostly rehab, he had no preseason to craft his game, he had the youngest OL in the league protecting him, ALL of his top offensive weapons were hurt for a good part of the year and even when healthy dropped too many passes. On top of all that he had a OC who needs to retire. If all this was the opposite and today was the result, then yeah, you'd have a leg to stand on calling for Tua departure.

Yeah, whatever. There's no panic involved. I am dolorously certain that Tua will take at least two full seasons to develop to his full potential and that his full potential will be no better than a very good QB. Not saying he'll achieve that, saying it's his ceiling. And a very good QB is not worth a top five pick and is not going to take us to the SB. If we want this team to do anything significant, we need a Pro Bowl caliber QB. And that means we need to draft another QB and keep doing it until we find one talented enough to carry this team.

I'm willing to give Tua another shot next year for sure. I've seen enough from him that tells me he deserves another look. I mean...5th overall pick in the draft. It's a little premature to give up on him so early. I think a lot of the circumstances surrounding him will also be taken into consideration. There's no need to jump the gun on him this early. With all that said, he was downright awful today when it mattered the most and that doesn't sit well with me at all. I'm not going to say that he's NOT the answer, but I definitely think that we need to draft another quarterback in April. At the very least...We need to bring in some competition for him. I'd be all for Fitz coming back and drafting another rookie in the early rounds. WE have to keep throwing darts at the position until one of them hits. 22 years now! A slog of retreads, a couple of promising rookies that never delivered, and now Tua. I like Tua, quite a bit more than most on here, and I say that we give him another year! But if Justin Fields is sitting there at 3, i'm taking him. If Kyle Trask is there at 16 or wherever we pick with our other selection...I'm taking him. I know it seems like an overreaction, but JUST IN CASE Tua isn't our guy, we'll have other options.
