The problem is; if Tua fails in 2021, you are still looking at 6-8 wins. You won't get close to a top 3 pick again. Yeah, having to spend another really high first rounder on a QB sucks, but it won't matter if you find your franchise QB. Even if that QB turns out to be Tua, you can trade the other QB for at least a second rounder and you protected all the other improvements the team has made by not tying them to a bad QB.
I think we have the #18 pick locked up now (lowest possible for non-playoff team). The most important result now (other than some miraculous comeback by the Jags) is Houston losing to Tennessee. Not sure what SoS does but we'll either end up with the 3rd or 4th pick if that happens. But if Houston wins we could drop to #8 or #9. BIG game. Tied 3-3 right now.
So? They were a dumpster fire last year and nobody here would have honestly predicted them to be in this position. Yeah this loss hurts and getting embarrassed like that hurts worse but the reason it can hurt is the good work they have done to get them to overachieve. They are nowhere near as close to being as good to the Bills but that is no great shock when this is a team that looked like they might not win a game through much of last year.
And you'll be saying the same thing next year when the Dolphins are the worst team in the AFC east. They showed you something so there s reason to be optimistic blah blah blah homerism. This team sucks and got so lucky in so many wins this year. 6 Wins next year will be the best they can do.
I wish they hadn't. Then we could have had Burrow. And yeah, he got hurt, but at least he got hurt selling out trying to win.
Thank the lord the titans are still playing to win their game against Houston regardless of the indy blowout. Wouldn't that be a perfect day to have Houston win too
If they both turn out. Flores and Grier have seen Tua in practice and game time, if we pick a QB with our first pick then I think they‘re not convinced and Tua is done. I would give him another year cause overall I saw more things I liked then things I didn’t like. His arm seems like a concern and so does his health. We‘ll know more after the draft and FA, I‘m still confident in our regime and will judge them next season.
Tua was Ross's pick i have no doubt after passing on Jackson. Tua will get one more year to prove himself no way they bail on him after this messed up season. That said i wouldn't mind drafting a QB at #3 for some real competition to push him.
Grier shouldn't be trusted to pick out produce for the Dolphins after the Tua pick. Crossing my fingers that he's fired tomorrow.
And which side of the ball was embarrassed by Barkley? Did Barkley embarrass Tagovailoa and the offensive side of the ball, or did Barkley embarrass X-Man and the defensive side of the ball? We weren't even supposed to be in this position....REPEAT...we weren't even supposed to be vying for the playoffs this season!! Be grateful that we were able to accomplish so much with so little!
I wanted to believe so badly that Ross, and his ineptitude, were finally going to take a backseat, and that he truly was going to let Grier run the team, but I also have pondered whether it was Ross who made the Tua pick. I wasn't convinced on Tua. He was too small, didn't show well in big games, other than his first one, and was injury prone. I wanted Burrow, then wanted to not draft a QB and wait until this year to go all in for Lawrence, and lastly was hoping for Herbert. Once we took Tua, I got behind him and got myself hyped about his accuracy and etc. But I have to be honest with myself - Tua does not look the part at all. He isn't a play maker, he doesn't have a great arm, he isn't that accurate, and he doesn't rise to the occasion. We've seen this movie before, not just with the Dolphins, but with many NFL teams. I do think Ross is behind this, and sadly, I must reluctantly say again, that until Ross sells this team, we will not get past mediocrity. Hope I'm wrong. Would love to see us take a QB in this year's draft and get some competition for Tua. If not, we burn Flores who is a good coach, waiting a few years for Tua to pan out, only to start over again.
I think that's the part alot of us have to remember. We're ahead of schedule IMO with this rebuild. I think the anticipation of hopefully being in the playoffs has sidetracked alot of our thinking on things here. At least that's how I feel anyways, so I agree with you in the sense we need to remember that. We have alot of holes to fill still on both sides of the ball though if we're being honest with ourselves.
They shredded the team of talent for a rebuild. Are we supposed to expect them to immediately win the SB after doing that? Its not being a homer to be realistic. What is being a homer is having unrealistic expectations and then overreacting and look ridiculous doing it. I definitely think they got a lot of breaks to inflate their record but they also did it playing extremely hard for the head coach. Trying to separate your feelings from it and imagine a different team rebuilt and way overachieved two years in a row and then fired their coach. Try to imagine what you would think of such a clown team.
It’s rather galling that either the Bears or the Cardinals will be in the playoffs with at best, a 9-7 record, and we’re going to miss out with 10-6.
NFC East is sending either a 7-9 team or a 6-10 team as division winner to the playoffs, pending the 6-9 Washington vs. 4-10-1 Eagles game later today. lol.. we're in the wrong division.
Flores can't beat the Bills(0-4). How do you expect him to win a playoff game? People here are delusional with their love for the guy.
You’re delusional for including last years numbers in that. Did you really think they were gonna beat Buffalo with our team last year? If so, I’ve got some ocean front property in Montana for you.
He didn't beat them this year either. What's the excuse? Maybe we'll get lucky and Diggs and Allen will get knocked out for the year.
Or you could pull your head out of your *** and realize no one thought we were even supposed to be in this position in year 2 of a complete overhaul. Plus Buffalo is probably the 2nd best team in the NFL. But you’d rather be a drama queen and just keep spewing negativity without any support to your position.
The proof is on my side. 0-4. You're the only talking about why we didnt and why we should in the future.
Jacksonville just scored. 20-14 Indy 3rd Qtr. lol would be amazing if we sneak into the playoffs with a Jacksonville win.
I want to see us in the playoffs yes. And if Jacksonville can win, then we can beat the Bills too. Probability isn't 0%.
Your support is during the 2 lowest points of this rebuild, because something hasn’t happened yet, it can’t happen in the future so you should just tear it all down now. That’s the equivalent of cancelling a road trip 1 mile in because you hit construction.
I just love the Sunday hot takes. Honestly, I'm still not in love with Tua but I thought he did "okay" today based on the circumstances. He had a lot of passes dropped downfield which weren't his fault, then he had a few picks that bounced the wrong way (AKA, even more drops). I didn't see the pick-6 so can't comment there if it was 100% Tua or not...at least two on the day were clearly his fault. My big takeaway today is that we have to stop pretending Parker is a #1 receiver....we really need to overhaul the receiving corps from top to bottom. I liked the limited action from Bowden and I think he'd be an excellent WR 3/4 down the road. Great season overall but a really tough ending- hoping Jacksonville pulls out the miracle here in the 4th quarter.
Jags making it close almost makes it hurt more reliving what I know will be our season ending twice. Hope they can pull it off somehow. Just doubtful
Only thing about those picks is Tua has also had some errant throws that should have been picked dropped this season so it’s hard to get into that game. Completely agree about Parker. The guy just isn’t reliable to be healthy and you can’t have that. I don’t think all was lost. We had a hell of a run and only the most optimistic fans would have expected us to be here. We’re only going to get better.
