I'd give a low round conditional draft pick for him. They need any pass rush help they can get next season.
I could see him on the move, he's going to be 32 next March and the Texans are most likely going to be in rebuild mode.
I'd give up our fourth rounder to make it happen. A bit more pass rush would make our secondary that much better, and he seems to be okay versus the run.
I like his attitude, but from Flores' POV, he's on the downside of his career and injury-prone. He'd have to sign for a bargain price for Flores and Grier to be interested.
Watt would be a fantastic addition. He's obviously heading toward the twilight of his career, but he's still well above average (85.5 overall grade per PFF). He also fits the versatility bill that makes Flores' defense so multiple; Watt can slot in anywhere from an EDGE position, to 5-tech, 3-tech, and even 1-tech. For the right price, I could see this happening.
You know, it kills me that we didn't take his little brother a few years ago in the draft....little Watt is showing out just like big Watt did. That's one talented family and I'd love to have either of them on our team.
As long as JJ Watt can still play football first and foremost. That would be the most important thing with adding him obviously. I love the big names as much as the next person, but too often it turns things for the worse with an organization. We see it all the time. Teams adding over the hill veterans to a promising roster of young players. Some of those young players get phased out by the 12 year vet with a "name" at this point who simply isn't as good as the young guy he replaced and all Hell breaks loose. It turns into a bad pro wrestling vibe. Articles of hate get written, arguments break out, players are left bitter, and coaches get fired. It's the main reason why I was happy that we didn't add Leveon Bell. I get that he chose the Chiefs, but it's looking like that was for the better anyway. In other words, I have become very leery of adding veterans that were once superhuman on the field the way Watt was. With Watt in particular, I think that he is still very much a football player first and foremost. He's also never been a distraction in any form. If we signed him, and Flores asked him to return punts he would break his backl trying to do so and never say a word about it. In the case of Watt becoming a Dolphin, i'd be all for it, but he'd have to earn his way just like all the others and I think Flores would see fit to that.
