Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said earlier this week that Williams was day-to-day with a foot injury, but said on Wednesday that Williams will be going on injured reserve. “More significant than we thought,” Flores said, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. Williams will miss at least three games as a result of the move and Flores declined to give a timeline on when the team expects him back. Williams left the game after scoring a touchdown on the second quarter. His left foot was held and twisted by a Cardinals defender as he leaped into the end zone and he appeared to be stepping gingerly with his right foot after defensive tackle Christian Wilkins jumped on him during a celebration.
Sad news. Felt like he was stepping up his game. Between him and Parker, I think WR is almost top priority next year.
He definitely stepped up in Arizona but prior to that I was honestly pretty disappointed in him this year. That said I'd still rather have him than not because our WR depth is very suspect after trading Ford.
I feel like he is a WR version of Ajayi, limited shelf life so squeeze the juice while its fresh and trade him.
I feel the exact opposite- I think he's the real deal as a #2/3 receiver. He's perfect for this offense because they can't double him...yet they have to double him and Gisecki and Parker. Can't stop all 3 from making circus catches. Maybe he's never a true #1 but for today, we don't need him to be. With that said though, Grant has filled that role nicely since folks can't cover him for long either.
I'm not quite as confident in him. He does a lot of undesirable things for a large WR, like leaving his feet for no reason to catch passes and letting the ball get into his body instead of snagging it with arms extended. He has all the physical ability to be a borderline #1 guy but at least in my opinion hes poor at using his skill set with any sort of consistency.
Sure, but the big catches he's made have been huge...which shows there's potential there. Also remember that he got less than a half season his first year, so he's basically just getting out of his rookie season. His contract still have plenty of time on it to see if he fully develops or remains one of those fringe guys. If he does fully develop into a fringe #1 though, then maybe we can't afford him in 3 years. So I'm not sweating it either way for the moment.
For sure, I'm not saying he has no potential or cant grow. He absolutely can and I hope he does. I just wouldnt let it stop me from taking a WR in the draft if I liked them enough. It's a position where the more playmakers you have with team friendly contracts the better. I truly believe that WR depth deteriorates less quickly than corner depth. Meaning if I have 5 WR my 5th should always be better than your 4th or 5th coverage man. That's my goal offensively, to be able to run out any formation successfully whether it's two wide or 5 wide.
They initially said about 4 weeks....that was 3 weeks ago. They said in the game last week that he was doing well and ahead of schedule, but they weren't sure if he could be back earlier. So MAYBE this week or next week? Hopefully....
