Credit to Flores in that case. It's important to build a culture where whoever performs best gets the nod. I still think an injury was hampering Tua throughout the game (can't prove it but it makes sense), but poor play is not something you stick with no matter the cause. It shows Flores wanted to do whatever it takes to win the game and that's a good thing.

Again I have to wonder why no RPOs were called. If the QB is holding the ball too long and the RPO was his staple in college and they've run it the past several weeks, then run it!

I don't like Pulling him. We need to keep him in this scenarios to see how he responds. If he's not our guy we need to know this year when we have the draft capital.

Tua was obviously benched because he played poorly today and the team had a chance to tie the game at the end. Otherwise he would've been benched in a very similar situation against Arizona, when he engineered a 10-play, 93-yard TD drive during which he played nearly perfectly and the team tied the game on his TD pass.

The difference? He'd played well previously that game.

The play calling made Tua miss wide open receivers early in the game or hold onto the ball way too long somehow?

It's not magic that when Fitz came in the offense looked competent. We didnt suddenly get a better play caller, we just had a competent veteran QB under center.

Only problem with this thought process is he was getting sacked left and right and couldn't make any plays. Not sure being in there and doing more of the same would have taught him anything. Maybe getting benched and watching a veteran he was able to see some things he was missing and improve.

"This game comes down to two or three critical plays," Flores said. "Hopefully we learn from it. There were other plays we didn't make. Dropped balls, from a protection standpoint, it looked like we came clean on a punt block and didn't make that one either. We have to take advantage of our opportunities."

"The Broncos came into the game with the sixth-best third down defense (38.1 percent), second-best red zone defense (50 percent touchdown allowed rate) in the league. They were 12th in sacks with 22. The latter stat was the story of the day.

"It's a good defense," Flores said. "Vic Fangio has one of the top defensive lines in the league. They have good players, they have a good scheme. They pressured us, they mixed the coverages, we didn't execute. We have to play better.""

I think they essentially confused Tua due to his inexperience. To be expected at this stage of his career.

Benching Tua for non injury boggles my mind. Take the L and move on. Either you are all in or you shouldn’t have made him the starter earlier in the season. I like this coaching staff and admit my armchair position has no credibility but wtf?

Again I'll say that while I do think Fitz is the better QB right now, going back to Tua is the right choice if you believe hes the future. I'm not sold on that myself but I can understand the thought process.

He wasnt seeing the field well enough and I think they wanted him to see it from another angle and get ready for next week.

I think it sends a clear message that no one is above getting benched and he’s going to do what he believes gives the team their best chance to win. Everyone needs to step up after this loss.

I liked in the press conference that Fitz said it was his own fault for not looking off the safety long enough....to me it seemed like he never even looked Jakeem's way. Like he said, that millisecond was the difference between a win and a loss.

He definitely could have looked him off better but I do keep in mind that it was a great play that most safeties arent able to make. It took great skills reading, baiting and athletically to get there.

He lost me when he called that throw to Grant catchable.

I watched that a few times to see what he was saying. Around 1:28-1:29, near the Denver 45yd line, you see Grant turn in a little and turn around into the defender. Had Grant continued in a straight line I think the commentator is correct, it would have been very catchable. It looks like Tua was trying to bring down on the outside where only Grant could get it. Obviously it depends on the play design - was it supposed to be at a certain place on the numbers, was Grant supposed to cut in etc.

If he continues in a straight line he just runs directly into the defender from what I'm looking at. Also in my opinion even if he keeps to the outside in a perfect world it's still overthrown by about 5 yards.

If he runs through the defender MAYBE he gets a PI though.

Grant definitely didnt play it very well but I also wouldnt call it catchable.
