Dont like the Tua benching if hes not hurt. I dont care if it amounts to a win, he needs to take the losses in the chin and learn from it. Bad move by Flores.
Like I said, the better QB. I'm not saying Tua wont or cant surpass him, but right now Fitz is the better QB.
If your QB is playing that poorly, he deserves to be benched. Too early to stick a fork in Tu but he clearly needs more time and some more help. My concern is that he’s nothing more than a game manager.
I didn't call for a ban nor say that you were trolling. I'm a mod and I was warning you that if you are trolling you'll be banned quickly. Take a look again. When your first post on a new forum is late in a losing game and calling the end of someone's career, that very much looks like trolling. Now, if you're genuine you're welcome to the forums. If not...
Tua will NEVER make it in the NFL if he is that mentally fragile. He played poorly, but an injury is a good cover for sending in Fitzmagic. Tua can learn from this and get better.
In my draft analysis of him at one point I think I said my worst fear is that he will be relatively average with small flashes causing us to not know what we have. I really hope that doesnt end up being the case.
I think the biggest question with Tua is health, he was not 100% coming in to the game. There’s the pick...
Well, there's why Fitz isn't starting anymore. I agree with whoever earlier said we shouldn't have benched Tua unless he was actually hurt. Shoulda been his game to take the Loss on. He was terrible & shoulda been the one to finish it out. I guess the game ending INT is a blessing though, at least now it's not a comeback win with our new starter being benched for playing like crap. If we came back and won/tied after benching him, what a locker room nightmare.
And there’s the conundrum of our QB situation. A game manager who doesn’t make the big plays but doesn’t turn the ball over. And a guy who can make the plays but also has too many costly turnovers
This isn't the kind of game you want to win anyway. Better to take a loss here and learn some lessons.
Well, in terms of the hard feelings about Fitz having the reins taken away from him, this should give some perspective.
Let the hot takes flow! Here we go, one rough game by our rookie QB and that's it. The sky is falling!!! The team if flatlining! OMG OMG OMG!
I'm curious now, whether this offense really is geared towards a Gailey-Fitzpatrick combination. They know one another. Fitz is a veteran's veteran - he brings a lot of savvy and input. It may only work well with Fitz in place. I think I'm going to put a stake in the ground on this one. I'm not 100% convinced Tua is the guy, but if he is the Dolphins will still need a new OC. Gailey needs to be gone. We need a cutting edge OC.
Disagreed. If Fitz played the entire game we most likely win. Tua has thrown 4-5 interceptable balls this year in a short time as well. Its result bias and not process driven when you say a throw like that trying to bring a team back that played like garbage on offense all day is a reason a guy isnt starting.
Outside of the Arizona game though, where are the flashes? Some nice throws here and there, yes. Every NFL QB has those moments though. At this point after 4 games of Tua; we'd have been better off sticking with Tannehill.
Wow.. disappointing game. Few players played well today. It's almost like everyone was jet lagged or so. Either way Flores has to show this was just one bad game and still get us into the playoffs. Regarding Tua, let me just say this. We've seen him in previous games not play well at times, which is expected since he's a rookie. But today was different. Tua is an accurate QB even if he's not quite adjusted to NFL game speed, so him throwing so many balls today that were just WAY off suggests to me there was something else going on, like an injury or so. He was technically on the injury report with a foot injury, which supposedly wasn't an issue but it would explain the mechanics being off. Anyway, just saying.. to me this didn't look like just a down day. Something else was wrong. I still think the future is bright for him though.
I don’t think anyone is being that dramatic. Objectively this team is ahead of where most people thought we’d be. But this game did expose several holes: 1. Our run defense 2. Our OL had a major regression 3. Lack of a running game which has been a problem all year 4. Our rookie QB struggled. No one is giving up on him but several of us had concerns about him going into the draft and preferred Herbert. At this point, the decision to take Tua over Herbert looks like a mistake. I hope that changes.
Notice how the ball came out so much faster and Fitz knew generally where the rush was going to come from and thus the pressure was the same but far less impactful. Those are the th things that Tua cant do yet at this stage of his career. The ball comes out quick to his first, maybe second read but any time he has to survey he sort of sits on it.
Yeah so far I have him graded with two terrible games, one average and one great with acceptable rookie mistakes.
I thought about that as well, but to me he never looked settled, never looked like he was in command of the game, like he played rattled all day. Looked the same way in his first game when I had some serious concerns, like the game was too big for him.
A good friend of Mine loves the 49ers, and when they got destroyed by the Dolphins I told him that I had a feeling that it would be the end of Garoppolo with the 49ers. Sometimes it takes a game to have weaknesses exposed. It could happen or could not. This game vs the Broncos gave me those same feelings. I somewhat like what I saw in Tua in his first three games , but the fact that he was benched and didn't look good throughout the entire game doesn't give me much confidence. I hope my feeling is wrong because the Dolphins were on a roll, and Tua showed good things vs Cardinals and Chargers. Anyway this game against the Broncos will define much of what the dolphins are made of. But it's just my opinion.
Gailey did say Fitz had a lot of input. Not only has he definitely seen this stuff before for some time, he may even have had a hand in constructing it. His name might be written on this offence.
You know, that's a good point on the injury. One of which I've forgotten. I really only saw yesterday he was limited in practice this week with an injury. So that might explain his play today. The inaccurate throws and the hesitation in the pocket and with respect to trying to make something happen with his legs. His play was very uninspiring today, and yes, could be very indicative of him being more hurt than we knew.
Right, which an injury can do to you. We've already seen him take command of an offense before, so it's not like he can't do it. It's that something caused him to not react as quickly with the mechanics being off. Just smells injury to me, but I can't provide the proof of course. Anyway, I'd have no issue sitting him for a game or two given that our next opponents are the Jets and Bengals (who don't even have Burrow anymore). But he needs to be back in for the rest of the season after that to prove this was a fluke.
I have to wonder why there wasn't a single RPO called today when they've done it the past several weeks and it was Tua's staple in college.
If there was a game that made me uneasy in this four game sequence where everyone had Miami going 4-0, this was it. And now I see why. Woof. That was just bad all around. On to the Jets.
