Well that was way too easy. Can't let an injured QB run for a first down on 3rd and long. Too many chunk plays and long conversions, D didn't look interested or ready to go, they are in trap-game mode. If the offense/Tua don't step it up from the last drive we are in for a dogfight and a loss.
Pretty deflating to give up a TD there. Denver tried shooting theirselves in the foot. But we did too.
Massive failure that they let Denver convert after the false start penalties. Tua needs to respond on this drive.
Tua needs to step it up a little with his downfield accuracy. Hes had a few decent shots.also we need to run the ball effectively.
There’s not a week that goes by where I don’t wonder what Herbert could do with our defense and roster.
Wake up call for the offense. They need to be able to sustain drives and not just score on short fields thanks to turnovers. We haven't seen many (any?) designed runs for Tua. Considering the struggles we've seen in the run game an extra threat and some more variety would be good. This OL has also seen a lot of change, that can't help.
Whole offense looks bad and disjointed. OL allowing too much pressure, Tua not making accurate throws or good decisions, RBs are non-existent, WRs not getting open and the plays are just boring and unimaginative. Need something to slow the rush and move things around.
I don't know why they haven't run one RPO. That would be the quick-developing easy pass Tua needs right now, and he's very familiar with that.
Tua getting tipsy... The Line and Tua need to step up if the D doesn’t start to dominate wich seems unlikely today.
Was there even a game plan for Denver? The Miami offense seems clueless about what to do or how to attack. Tua is really struggling.
Or just some misdirection - Grant/Perry on a reverse or something, anything. Make the defense look at the whole field instead of focusing on the pocket.
Tagovailoa is looking like ***CRAP***, so why does Gaily keep calling pass plays? Damn it, Denver's defense SUCK against the run. RUN THE DANG BALL!!! Set up play action pass!!!!
Yep. The whole thing looks horrible. I'm not convinced a lot of this isn't on Chan Gailey. I don't see a real structure or identity to the offense. He's either playing it very safe, in his mind, or he's just not creative. They're going to need a cutting edge OC. And maybe new OL talent.
I feel like this is where having such a young team hurts us a little. Just seem to lack that experience to stand tall when the tide is turning against you.
Chan Gailey isnt making Tua miss wide open receivers downfield, as much as I disliked his hire I cant say this is his fault today.
IMO that and they were starting to feel themselves a bit too much. Four game win streak and a relatively bad opponent ... seems like they have fallen into a classic trap game mode. Disappointed Flores couldn't get them up for it, a good team shouldn't have these issues. Offensive gameplan is just bad - OL and Tua struggling so stop with the classic long-developing pocket passing plays already.
I agree. But where mistakes happen it becomes more important to make the most of your play calls. There are still some head-scratchers being called. I also don't feel like they have shown an ability to adapt. Seems more like they're going through a list of plays and hoping something works rather than evaluating the D and acting accordingly.
If we're still losing this at the half then I fear for that locker room because Flores is going to kill some dudes.
Offense looking very worrisome here today folks. If the exceptional defensive and special teams plays are necessary to be competitive against the likes of Denver, this team's in trouble. They're going to have to generate a more reliable offense here at some point.
