Great win by the Dolphins but I don't want to talk about that right now! Switched over the the Bills game and watched them take the lead with :38 remaining. Murray struggled to drive them, burnt their timeouts on short passes and the game was all but over. 11 seconds left he rolls out to his left, defenders all over him and he throws a BOMB to a triple-covered DeAndre Hopkins. He somehow goes up above all three defenders and hauls it in for the win....what a freaking game! Bills lose!

So who had the Phins winning, narrowing their gap on the division and improving their draft pick on the bingo card for today?

We are a game and a half back, the Bills own the head-to-head tiebreaker and better Division record. We can catch them, but we'll need to beat them Week 17 and get a bit of help.

This was a great TEAM win, although I wanted to beat Karras severely about the head, neck and shoulders for that crappy snap that resulted in a fumble and recovered by the Chargers.

Tagovailoa hasn't been putting up barnstorming numbers but, he has been efficient. He was lucky a couple of his passes weren't picked off. I know he's accurate and isn't afraid to make a throw but he's going to get burned sooner or later. Ahmed is a stud of running back. I like this kid! He's a terrifyingggggggggg....running back.

The bend don't don't break defense is driving me BONKERS!!!! Drives me nuts that San Diego was able to move the ball, especially on the ground like they were. Now either it was just me, or I didn't see near as much of the Cover 0 as I thought we would. Chargers the wrong team to use that defense? I don't know.

With the Bills loss, we are a half game back. As it stands right now, there are 8 teams in the AFC that are competing for the playoffs, and we're the odd man out. Our next three games are

    At Denver
    At New York Jets
    VS Cincinnati

We need ALL 3 of those games because after them, the Chiefs come to Miami. I would really like an 8 game winning streak before playing the Chiefs.

The Bills next 3 games following next week's bye are

    vs Chargers
    at San Francisco
    vs Pittsburgh

We do have a shot, albiet an outside shot to actually win the division.

Everyone's talking about winning the division. There's still a very strong chance we're in 2nd and vying for a wildcard. I believe there are 5 or 6 teams with 6 wins right now in the AFC.
So what I'm saying is, I certainly wouldn't mind if the Pats finish off the Ravens tonight. With the Steelers looking like division champs we could use the help in the wildcard race.

They have done what they can to control their own destiny. Lots can happen between now and playoffs. But I’m feelin the coach. I’m feeling the team culture. Like they won’t be rocked because all the coaches are it because of Covid. Or a main player is out because of X. The Franchise just feels like it’s in the right direction. Huge donations recently were unprecedented. Activity in the community. Say what you want about Ross but he’s put together something we all can be proud of. On and Off the field.

I'm not emphasizing winning the division. Do I believe we have a shot based on the remaining schedule? Yea I do but as it stands right now, there are 8 teams vying for the playoffs in the AFC and we're currently the odd man out. Making a run to win the division, which is not outside the realm of possibility would be the best way to guarantee us a spot in the playoffs. Too many other 6-3/7-3 teams out there that would cause a mathematical nightmare for us to negotiate.

I may be wrong Rick, but I believe we're still short. Our division and conference records aren't as good as the other 6-3 teams.

Herbert looks like Herbert. Checkdown king with the clutch interception to seal the game. Might as well call him sherbert because that boy is soft. 1-7 now. I give rookies the benefit of the doubt but if he was that good, hed probably be able to will his team to a better record than 1-7.

Meanwhile Tua took over a team that all the talking heads were worried about. “The O-line is going to get him killed” “he has no receiving corps.”

Dudes throwing to jakeem grant and smythe and shaheen. Wait until he gets a jamarr chase or jaylen waddle with a najee harris or chuba in the backfield. Woowee. Nastiness is in our near future, fellas.

Up until that muffed snap, this game looked like a repeat of the Niners, Jets and Rams games. Amazing how one play can change things. They were headed for a 21-0 lead.

The game was closer than it should have been.

I knew Tua would be able to move the ball and score. And he was, but the defence was able to consistently force Justin Herbert and the Chargers to punt the ball back.

Sanders finally misses a kick but they get the ball right back and he gets an immediate chance to redeem himself. I'm somewhat disappointed they settle for so many FG tries, they could have easily put up 40 this game. BUT they controlled the tempo and not Herbert that's what led to the W.

Solid Win and not nearly as close as the score indicated. Interestingly it's the largest L the Chargers have this year. Now their calling card is 7 L's by 8 points or less and not 7 points or less.

No doubt about it. There is a decent percentage of cases in which a made FG in that situation actually decreases win probability, and a converted 4th down increases it.

A very good, competent - apart from the fumbled snap - display again.

Tua is looking more and more like the franchise quarterback we’ve been waiting for since Dan Marino retired. Some of his passing was phenomenal and his poise in tight situations is already very impressive. The coolness he showed to pick up the dropped ball and still complete the pass was amazing.

Salvon Ahmed is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. He looked like he’d been on the team for years, rather than just promoted from the practice squad a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think he’s the answer to our problems at RB, but he is making himself very difficult for Coach Flores to drop.

Xavien Howard had another interception. He’s having a great season, as is Emanuel Ogbah, who again performed well, but it was really disappointing to see Jason Sanders miss, what was for him, a relatively straightforward FG attempt.

All in all, a very good performance from a team that is improving every week, and with seven games still to play, has already beaten last season’s win record.

The future is looking bright, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.

I dig Tua. I'm on the Tua train, but along with the good plays, he did get away with a couple of beauts.

There was that play in the third when Tua threw it to Shaheen over the middle. The pass went right through Kenneth Murray's hands.into Shaheens. You couldn't have asked for an easier pick. Than later in that quarter, he threw it to the back of the end zone where there were two defenders on DeVante and he threw it ahead of DeVante, right to the defenders spot and hands and they dropped it. He's our new blessed one. :)

I've learned over the years that the camera angle can "lie to you"....one view makes it look like an easy pick where another view makes is impossible to pick off. And I'm not saying that's what has happened here- I've thought the same thing you did on several throws. But as others have pointed out a million times when QB's get picked off at no fault of their own (tip ups, partial blocks, etc.), nobody remembers the "why" more than a day or two after the game.

So for now, all I remember is that Tua has zero picks on the year...because that's the important part!

There are a few, IMHO, really important things about this team that can't be overstated.

    1. This team has a 2nd year, first time HC.
    2. Last year this team was whittled down to practically nothing. It was a true and complete overhaul.
    3. The oldest player on defense is 29 and the oldest player (now with Fitz taking back-up) on offense is Jakeem Grant at 28. They literally have no starting players 30+ years of age.
    4. The players seem to genuinely like each other.

There are obviously other things that are good about this team. And there are things that need work. But this foundation is creating a culture that is priceless. And this foundation is allowing the team to overachieve in every facet of the game.

The next 7 games will obviously allow us to see if this is all fools gold or if they are on to something down in Miami. I'm believing it's the latter. They could realistically and objectively finish the season with 12 wins and no one in their right mind can say differently. I get that 3 of the last 7 are division games ,and those are always tough, and 1 of those 7 games is against KC, but winning 6 of the last 7 would not surprise me in the least. Yes, this is the NFL and any given Sunday and all that, but just being able to fathom 12 wins this quick into a full rebuild is incredible. Not to mention the opportunity with next year's draft!!??

I, for one, am excited about the future of my team for the first time in a long time.

Hes changed my tune on him a lot, but he had a few really bad decisions I wont sugar coat.

He should have had two picks on the day minimum and I'm not even counting the play he described. Its not so much about those particular plays and whether they turned out okay, but the decision making wasnt there a few times and he needs to improve that to be successful consistently.

I completely agree. Tua is known for throwing in to very tight windows with pinpoint accuracy, and I'm sure that will get him in trouble this season at some point. He definitely needs to improve all aspects of his game like any rookie QB would.

Unrelated, yet sort of highly related side note- I live in Clemson country and I happened to catch part of Dabo Sweeny's weekly recap show last night. They were talking about players with huge growth in 2020 and the first person he named with Trevor Lawrence. He said that the game is so slow for him from the pocket that he can see everything. Even though he played unbelievable last year and the year before as a freshman, he's so much better this season on his reads and progressions. The announcer was like, "Um, how? He was incredible last year?!" And Dabo replied, "I can't even explain it in words, just trust me here, Trevor is on a different level this season and he's beyond pro-ready. The game is so slow for him right now." And he kept saying that, how slow the game is for him and how he's never seen a quarterback with that level of intelligence, poise and playmaking ability at the college level.

He then talked about how Etienne is the best RB in the country hands-down, which I agree with- really hope we draft him in the 1st round! But I equally hope that the Jets don't get Lawrence #1 overall. I can't stress it enough how badly we need the Jets to start winning! The silver lining here is that there's a real chance Trevor Lawrence returns for his senior year....I'm rooting hard for that as well. Great kid and he deserves a quality education in 2021!

I should also add that Dabo doesn't do "coach talk"...he truly says what he sees in players and doesn't sugar-coat anything. If a guy makes a mistake, Dabo calls them out on the radio/TV show and talks about how they're correcting the problems. So I believe his praise for Trevor is genuine and he really thinks he's "beyond pro ready"....whatever that means.

Yeah, I hear ya', Key, but that is not the case here and I'm not knocking on Tua. I may not be another fluffer at the moment. He has enough of those, but I am super psyched about how Tua and the team has been playing. I have watched it several times. It was certainly a potential easy pick and it wasn't zipped in there like some Marinoesque laser. You can even see that Murray was pissed and shocked that he didn't catch it. It went right through his hands. It happens to a lot of great QBs and I am quite confident that he and the coaching staff have looked at the film and are working on those issues. No biggie. They won and Tua made some very good plays in the game. The pass in the endzone which I mentioned was certainly a mistake. Again, no biggie. It happens. Just pointing out a few plays that they will most likely look at and correct. "It's all good, baby baby".

I don't agree. Tua looks right and the LB is looking where he is looking. He even takes a light step to the right and is looking for the target to the right. Tua then fires the ball to his left before he's even looking at Tua. As soon as he sees Tua look left, the ball it's already on him and he just gets his hands up. The zip on the ball and the camera angle make this look like and "easy" pick.

That is just reconstructing the play to fit a predetermined agenda IMO.

Tua clearly never saw or acknowledged the LB. What you are basically saying, with all due respect because I have nothing against you, is that we should ignore the video and pretend something else happened. The ball went directly between his hands and was even partially tipped because the trajectory changes. I dont see any way around that fact.

Yeah that was a bugger implication towards you than I intended. I didnt necessarily mean you or anyone would intentionally have an agenda.

I meant more along the lines of...for example....we like the Dolphins so as fans we may have a tendency to unintentionally defend things we wouldnt for another team. Except in this case towards an individual player.
