No way I like to lose...BUT, there were some positives: 1) Langford = Excellent pick (not to take anything away from the thread on him below, which was nice, but...) he played a nice game for a rook and did it against some pretty decent players. Nowhere to go but up for him. Pro-Bowler by year 3, easily. 2) TE. How long has it been since we've had promising TE play? Ferrell Edmonds? Joe Rose? Keith Jackson? Well, whatever....looks like Miami has at least two that can contribute. 3) Ronnie. Nothing spectacular today, but glimpses of quickness, power and catching ability....he'll be fine and will do big things this year 4) Jake. Well, nothing to write home about - a pair of penalties and a few missed assignments....but, he didn't emberrass himself by any means. He'll be fine and a foundation for many, many years. 5) Yeremiah Bell. Glad to have you back, my brother....stay healthy. 6) Davon Bess. Potential. Potential. Potential. 7) Crowder. Hard worker. 8) Porter and Roth. Room for improvement, but both are/can be playmakers. I don't know....clean up some of the stupid mistakes....gel a bit as a team....things aren't looking to darn bad, IMO.
Roth made a pretty big play with that strip of Favre. On this list of things to build on I'd like to see a win added next week. This teams needs to get that first win out of the way.
Good post, butr I'm sorry - for almost 10 years as a Fin fan now, I'm getting sick and tired of talk of potential, and hope, and things to look up at. But we seem to be getting worse every year, and all we do is hope. Hope is good, optimism is good, but eventually results have to come or else it is all complete bull. This loss hurts and I'm mad as hell.
I kind of feel that way too. We need results sooner rather than later. I'm not saying they have to make the playoff this year, but definitely next year. They really need to win more games than I can count on one hand.
Nice post, I'd just like to expand a bit more with some of my own thoughts... 1. no way i can disagree. Langford was looking great out there today. 2. the TE position... Great... just Great. That trade for Fasano sure looks like a steal for us now doesnt it? Sure its only one game, but you have to love what you saw from him today. Even David Martin made some nice plays which is great to see 3.Ronnie looked 100% to me today. Didnt look hesitant, ran hard with speed, didnt avoid contact. To me, he looked more impressive than Ricky. 4. Jake... sure those two penalties cost us. What can you do though? The guy is a rookie, playing a tough position. A few mistakes are to be expected while he works to adjust to the speed of the NFL game. Overall, i'd say he looked pretty good out there. 5. Bell... definately great to have him back. 6. Bess... I love what this kid brings. I wish we had him on the field more today. He looked great on those returns, made a nice catch on that ball from penny that was a bit high and behind him... leaping and turning back to make the catch, then split two defenders for a first down.. very impressive 7. Crowder... hmm I like the guy, but he didnt impress me much today. I expected him to be in on many more plays than he was. He whiffed on a few tackles that led to gains much larger than they should have been. I agree though, he's definately a hard worker. 8. Porter and Roth... Porter had a nice game today, Roth didnt seem to get burned too much in coverage, had the nice force fumble on Favre... nice job sticking with the play. I like what both of these guys did today.
Extremely pleased with how Anthony Fasano performed today. He found the soft spots in the defense, and caught everything within his reach. Someone obviously needed to step it up in the passing game, and he did just that. Best of all, this guy is only going to get better.
Well put brother As for Langford, remember Parcells picked Demarcus Ware out of nowhere, and may have just done it again. This guy could be amazing. As for the tight ends, don't forget Bruce Hardy.....he was always a favorite of mine
