WHOEVER runs this board, can you look into the freezing in the middle of the post issue? Just about every day I lose a post because it freezes in the middle of the post TY
I've had it happen on my phone using Chrome a lot. The whole app will freeze up, and I have to minimize it to get it to work. After I do that, things are fine. On my PC what I have are that my posts sometimes take much longer to go through than they used to. Sometimes 5-10 seconds after I hit the button. It sits there thinking and then they finish. 3PMI was looking into it. I haven't head back from him about it.
Mine has been going on much longer than that. Since the summer. My posts on here used to be instantaneous. Snap and it was up. Probably was the fastest website I regularly used for years and years. I have no idea what changed.
That I can live with. What sucks is all the posts I've spent time writing only to have the reply button frozen out - forcing me to refresh and lose what I had typed.
I've had that happen when I try and edit my posts. Sometimes, it will also move the text box way up out of my current screen, and I have to scroll back up to locate where I left off. I also now don't see the picture when I add one to the post until I leave the thread and come back again.
Sometimes you can go to more options and it won't be lost (as it goes to an advanced reply). I have done that quite often (unfortunately).
It's helpful to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this. It's gotten to the point that I try to remember to select all and copy my text every few sentences, so that if the reply box freezes, I can refresh and cut and paste what I wrote prior, before continuing and completing my post. Though, I have to admit, when I forget to do this, I often don't bother re-writing my reply. There's just something incredibly aversive about trying to reproduce you've previously written and lost. ("Wait, how did I word it last time?") Plus, you know, that whole wasted time thing isn't particularly enjoyable, either.
Same for me. Are you using Chrome? I have no idea if that's it, but I don't seem to have any issues when I use Safari for some reason.
You guys should post your site issues over here -> https://thephins.com/forums/site-suggestions-and-questions.25/
no its on every browser, I use Opera GX and have the same issue for months now, btw Opera GX is the best Browser I ever used, run it for about 6 months now and it is so smooth and has so many options build in free VPN etc...give it a try
definitely a chrome issue in my experience, was happening every time I posted - but moreso on my mac thanmy PC. I switched to using safari and firefox and haven't had issue since
Besides the other issues mentioned, I can get through a few pages then it freezes, I have to leave the site and come back, rinse repeat.. Any updates happening on the site?
You guys are sure you dont have bad internet connections right? I've still never experienced any of this.
I have what I consider to be fast and reliable service through Comcast. Our board is the only site that I regularly visit that I have issues with. I even sometimes post on other boards that use this same software without any problems, though these days im on those far less frequently than im on here.
I think my sarcasm on the internet thing failed. Though the part about not having experienced this is true. I think it's interesting it's not impacting everyone, especially since some unaffected users are probably using the same setup more or less to access the site as impacted users.
I agree. Its strange. But as I said earlier, there was a long time where even on a much slower connection than I have today, this board was one of, if not the fastest website that I would visit. When I hit post, it was instantly finished. Now, it nearly always takes several seconds before it does, sometimes 10-20 seconds, and sometimes fails. And on my phone, it sometimes freezes completely, but thankfully I learned that I can resolve that by "three lines" icon in the bottom left corner, and then going back into Chrome.
I'm looking into the database to see if I can figure out why inserting posts isn't as snappy as it used to be. I haven't experienced anything I'd call a freeze and reading/displaying posts is still snappy, but for some reason creating posts is slightly slower than it used to be.
The site underwent a bit more maintenance today that should be wrapping up shortly. I'll keep monitoring, but I believe things should be a bit snappier now.
