I think that this is the second year in a row where what the Dolphins are doing is a matter of semantics.

First and foremost, it is Grier's job to scout players. It looks probable that we are going to have a top draft pick, it would be malpractice to not scout the top players.

Tua as 11:36 CST on 11/8/20 is our guy. It is in our best interest to get our guy reps and develop him as a player. I think we probably should have started him earlier.

Now here is the deal. We are gonna have film on Tua, and we are going to see if he improves, stays the same, or regresses over the course of the season. Again, as an organization, it only makes sense to evaluate your players.

Okay, so this is just part of reality. If Grier is doing his job, he should have a grade on Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. Now again, Grier should have a new evaluation on Tua and will have a grade on Fields and Lawrence, right? Why would he not compare grades in the most position in all of sports? Mind you, the difference between a good QB and a great QB is immense in terms of a team's success.

There are also other outside influences worth consideration. We currently have a slew of draft picks. While I was on a run, I thought to myself, "How many players do we need to be legit Super Bowl contenders?" Honestly, I think the answer is right around 3. We are very, very close, and I gotta believe that one of those players is acquired via free agency. I also do not think that Flores needs some top ten draft pick on defense. He has done an exceptional job of developing mid to late round talent. I already think that we have more draft picks than we need, and we should be using picks to move up to grab targeted players.

Another factor is that we could offer Tua in any part of a draft day trade. I would imagine that a lot of teams will have a solid grade on Tua. So as far as trades are concerned, many teams may not see it as a situation where they would no longer be receiving a franchise QB.

Now, if the Texans wind up ripping off a few wins, all of this talk will probably be for naught. But if the Texans wind up sending us a top 5 draft pick, exploring every avenue for success is the only responsible thing to do.

One last aside. I think Trevor Lawrence is a generational talent and is the best prospect since Andrew Luck.
