Like I said, I'm fine with him back there. I start him in fantasy and he hasn't disappointed me. My biggest concern for Gaskin his how many times he's touching the ball every week. Good for my fantasy numbers; bad for the tread on his wheels. I'd love to see someone take a quarter of his snaps, not because he doesn't perform but because he's going to wear down. Even if we drafted a second round back next year, I'd hope Gaskin is still around as a reliable backup or tandem option.
So, who's gonna be the lead dog in the backfield now with Gas Can on the IR for the next 3 weeks? Brieda?
Oh, that's not what I meant at all. If we get someone better than Williams, bench his butt until he becomes more productive. I'm all for that! I just meant he's not a "bust" if he's not true starting caliber right away.
How many years were people here ready to get rid of Devante before something clicked? You can't be too impatient with a WR. Sometimes it takes 3 years to develop.
I personally believed in Parker the entire time. I dont see in Williams what I did in Parker, but I hope it clicks.
Honestly, I've seen more from Williams at this point than I did from Parker year one. Devante was out of shape back then, cramped up a lot, always sitting due to minor injuries AND dropped a lot of footballs that year. He had a few big plays in year one but so did Williams. I'm comparing Preston in year 1/2 to Parker in year 1 since Preston missed over half the season with the serious leg injury.
Parker always played to his size though. What I dont see in Williams yet that concerns me is the ability to make himself big. The ball is always making it close to his body where you want a receiver his size to be extending to snatch the ball. He also needs to get better at boxing out with his body and not allowing the defender inside. In my opinion he doesnt use his size advantage very well, in other words.
Well I have come to the conclusion that you don't need to have the stud college running back and draft him in the 1st round. There are good running backs all over the draft anymore. Find one that suits what you want to do and grab him. I like Gaskin and hope he heals quickly but I expect we will finally see Matt Breida get a good amount of carries. And honestly I think this has far more to do with our young Oline not being very good run blockers at the moment. Another note. WE know this team has it's warts and things that need to improve, but man is Grier and Flores doing a great job or what! This team is inching it's way back into relevancy and it's starting to get noticed. No one thought the Dolphins had a chance at the playoffs this year. No one. And here we are with people talking playoffs and even winning the darn division! It amazes me how much improvement there has been and we aren't even close to being a complete team yet. Wait till what happens next year!
I think the issue for most was lack of durability, not his potential. Even this year, he’s battled injuries. Hard to be able to depend on him.
Gesicki is not a true tight end. He is just a tall athletic wide reciever. Having a true inline tight end would be nice, although sheehan and smythe have been playing pretty well. Our main strategy in the draft should be to continue shoring up the oline, and draf a premier running back. We are already pretty good at reciever and QB. On defense the main need is linebackers, a rangy ball hawk free safety, and a premier pass rusher.
Dolfans are incredible, gaskin has been playing well all year long. He has one bad game against a great run defense and now he's a bum?
