You know after giving it some thought, this could be a coaching tactic to put pressure on Tua. Basically a...

“Ok Tua, you got the nod. We’re winning so the team can win. Up to you now not to come in and eff it up”

It’s not a situation where he’s starting with a raw team that’s all jacked up and can’t play their way out of a wet paper bag with a hole in it aka Joe Burrow in Cincinnati. We’ve won 3 and the games we lost we were in those games. So the team is playing ok. Not “great” but not horribly either. It’s not like he’s coming in to a team that can’t win.

This...could work out better than some of us are thinking it might.

Regardless, if hes getting close you know hes getting close. It doesnt really change anything about what I said. It's not like he was magically ready right after the last game. If you know hes getting close it's the same thing in effect.

OMG!!!!! Did you see Fitz??? WT-?? I'm a tough enough guy, but man....damn...that's rough.

Man, I know I am in the minority and that's where I usually like it. This move, at this time, just totally sucks the big arse. This is nothing against Tua. As I've said before, this move just reeks of Stephen Ross and I speculated about it when it first happened and now I see Florio and others around doing the same. Why mess with the momentum? I understand that now would be a good time to insert a new QB with the byweek and all if that's what you plan to do, but I see no reason to do that now. I think it is a bad plan. As we know, there have been several great QBs who sat and strengthened for awhile and they are guys who didn't hav e a major injury and surgery just a year ago! Now, as we know Coach Flo, being a standup guy and all, he lets Fitzy know like this? Nah.....something reeks big time. This sucks. I'll always support all my phins come game time, but.........

I think it’s a coaching decision. I think it’s more abut the OL gelling to the point where Flores feels it is safe to put Tuan on field.

However, the way the decision got leaked out really sucks, and I hope the mole is found and defenestrated. Loose lips sink ships.

Don't be ridiculous re Josh Rosen - he already had 16 games of bad tape on his resume from Arizona. We gave him a look and he didn't take the chance - was there anyone on here who wanted him to play out the season for us last year after the poor play in the 2nd & 3rd games he played when he had the chance?
Ryan is a different matter - he was let down by successive coaching regimes and he needed a change of scenery for him to be able to rehabilitate his career. He wasn't hurt by the current coaching regime - it resurrected his career going to the Titans, as he would not have had the chance last year behind our 2019 Oline

You are right, it is pure speculation and the likes of Florio and the rest know as much as the rest of us - precisely nothing.
Flo called Fitz into his office and talked to him about it - he told him coach to player. There's nothing wrong with that - Flo probably didn't like the game that Fitz had against the Jets, as he didn't play well from about 5 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter.
So if Tua gives us a better chance of winning, you won't support that? Go and find another team then

The Miami Dolphins owe Ryan Fitzpatrick nothing. He's a bad quarterback that sometimes has a great game.

Fans really have to get over this whole "but he's such a nice and goofy guy with a funny beard" thing.

You're absolutely right, the Dolphins owe Fitzpatrick nothing. He knew he was the placeholder...the bridge to hold the team together until Tagovailoa was named the starter. He knew that once day Tua was going to be taking over and KNEW this day was coming sooner or later.

From a personal aspect, does it suck? Does it hurt? Is it a bit confusing seeing how you just had back to back blowout wins? Does it feel as if the organization doesn't appreciate what Fitz? Yes, yes, yes and yes. From the emotional point of view all of these questions answer yes but referring to the first paragraph of this post, everyone knew this day was coming most of all Fitzpatrick.

As a quarterback referring to his play, Fitzpatrick isn't a great quarterback. Let's be completely honest here. He's playing for his 8th team in his 16 year career. That's 1/3 of the teams in the league. If he was a great quarterback he would be the face of a franchise. Don't get me wrong, the man can play. Every team Fitz's played for, he's shown flashes of brilliantly bright, blinding light but like a flash of lightening, it's here for a second and gone the next.

Now while as a fan, I TRULY appreciate everything Fitz has done for the Dolphins. He's played better than I thought he would, he's been a true mentor and teacher and he's been a true leader to the team. As most will recall, I was one of the ones VERY skeptical (and still am to a degree) about drafting Tagovailoa. I felt the team had way too many issues to be putting all of our eggs in one basket with the drafting of Tua but this is not the same TEAM. This is not the same culture as previous regimes. I am a bit skiddish and nervous about Tua starting now but for the reasons I stated in my last post, this "racecar" has proven it can run...it's time to see if Tua can really drive.

Again, i dont think this decision has anything to do with Fitzpatrick’s play. We have won two straight, and Fitzpatrick was big in those wins.

this is about transitioning a young highly touted first round quarterback prospect into a starting role with a solid surrounding cast. Usually teams have bad surroundings around their quarterback prospect and throw them in the fire. The dolphins have the benefit of giving Tua an opportunity to succeed from the get-go. Tua is tapped in as the future and face of the franchise. Fitzpatrick is not a franchise quarterback he was a placeholder.

also with the Houston pick being what it is, the Dolphins want to see what they have in Tua now. He cant go out there looking frail and undersized like Pat White. Hes got to look like he belongs in this league.

    Yes you can-

Step 1) Clear cookies & read article.

Step 1a) Use a different browser & read article (Chrome, FireFox, Edge, Explorer, etc all have their own sets of cookies).

Step 1b) Use incognito mode & read article. If that fails, you're collecting cookies in incognito mode...go back to step 1.

Step 1c) Use a different device & read article.

Step 1d) <pro users only!> Use your regular browser and as soon as the text on the page loads, hit the "x" button to stop the page loading any further (this is the button that turns into the refresh icon once the page is fully loaded). The lead image loads 1st, then the page text, then ads, then other images, then the pay-wall. So if you're quick on the draw, you can stop the paid prompt to read the text every time from your regular browser. Ultra-fast internet makes this very hard to time correctly, but it's easy on slow to average internet speeds.

Step 1e) <ultra pro users only!> If you're a tech nerd and know your way around browsers, you can block certain sites from storing cookies on your device entirely. I've never done this and the step by step would be different for each browser, but we all need to learn this eventually- just block cookies on the Herald, Sentinel, Palm Beach Post, etc. They track us using our systems and it's completely your right to deny that!

Which bit is gibberish, I am interested? So because my opinion is different to yours, I am wrong?
Fitz came out and said that Flo called him into the office and told him the decision - is that not true then?
Has there been any proof at all that Ross had anything to do with the decision - again, I am interested if you have seen some proof of this apart from speculation in the media, as I haven't?

FitzMagic is upset he lost the job? Didn't he realize he was a "slump buster" or "practice girl?" Come on, man, Tua was essentially the #1 pick in the draft who fell a bit because of injury concerns. FitzMagic should be happy to have had gotten to ball out for a few games; it'll set him up nicely for his next half-year gig on a team desperate for a starter.

Of course he was upset he lost the job, he loves playing football and realized he could have started his last game. He's just going to be a year older next year. The press conference was chopped up for quotes selling far more drama than was there. He was honest about feeling sad with losing his job. And, unlike last year, when Rosen started, Tua is clearly the future. He called Josh starting last year a sink or swim situation, which it was. Josh sank, and Fitz took the job back. He clearly doesn't expect Tua to sink. He also talked about how his job now was to support Tua however he can, preparation wise, what he is seeing game day from the D, etc... Basically, continuing the mentorship. He said that it takes the whole QB room to have success in the NFL. That narrative doesn't drive clicks so it is being ignored nationally.

He laughed when talking about how he's in a job where the day after being fired he's in a zoom meeting with the guy who fired him, in a room the guy who replaced him. The way that quote was used wasn't the way he said it.

It wasn't the media for me. A few things he said rubbed me the wrong way.

Saying he got fired when he didn't. There are a lot of people really struggling right now. While sucky, he went from starting quarterback to not starting quarterback. He still can play this season if Tua is injured.

Saying that he had to go into meetings with the person who fired him and the person who replaced them. Saying that is rare. When it isn't rare. It is very common. At least in the tech/IT field. I have known many people who have trained their replacements. Heck, similar things happened to me.

And the selfish fan thing I want to be excited about Tua and see the talks about Tua. Not feel sorry for a Journeyman who is on his 8th team.

Honestly, I don’t love the move considering we are in contention and have a winning streak. At this point, I trust Flores and they need to see what we have. We have a lot of draft capital that will shape our organization next year. Not that they’re drafting a QB, but it may impact how they decide to build around him or whoever our QB is.

I get that, and that's fair. I feel both. I'm excited for Tua and sad for Fitz. Independently. Football is only fun for me because the lows flavor the highs.

I'm also in IT, I have feelings of accomplishment, but I've never run around the office screaming my head off and smiling like Fitzpatrick because of something I've done. I like the job, love the money, but it's not playing football.

My problem with how Fitz is being presented by professional media outlets is when what he has stated about Tua, and what he's going to continue do for Tua is purposefully ignored, so a talking head can talk about how his job was always to help Tua, and claim sour grapes.

He didnt say it was rare, he said it was the reality, and that reality sucks for him. Theres nothing wrong with that, I sure as hell wouldnt train my replacement to begin with. I'd walk out and say good luck, hell if I got benched I'd probably just stop showing up personally.

I understand the selfish fan aspect of it, I feel that too, but hes allowed to have feelings about it.

He did, you are right I missed that word somehow.

Still it sort of is rare to be immediately thrown to the side and expected to continue with all of your responsibilities.

I think if he was struggling and the team was losing he wouldnt feel this way. Regardless of whether hes the future, the offense has been pretty good this year minus the Seattle game and we are coming off back to back 20+ point wins. That's not when you expect to be benched, especially when the team loves you and is behind you 200%.

I think the players will respond fine and will come out to play and make Tua look good. As much as they love Fitzpatrick, at the end of the day they got their careers ahead of them while Fitz’ career is closing. Theyre not going to go out there playing like garbage.

tua has a lot to prove this year. Being a franchise quarterback doesnt only mean putting up stats and winning football games. It also means being present, having perfect attendance, not missing games. There isnt a damn franchise quarterback in the NFL right now that is missing games annually. The ones that have those kind of quarterbacks are not winning much of anything.

The consensus is that it came from someone around Tua, as far as theories that arent proven go.

He was the first one to know he was starting in terms of players, so it's either him or a staff member, and high ranking staff that would know generally dont leak things.
