Jests now have the radar lock on the #1 pick. Hopefully Lawrence stays in college another year, or demands a trade.
Well, a "good" win, but somewhat frustration. We won by that score due to excellent defense and the Jests own ineptitude and a QB in Flacco who was collecting a check rather than playing the game to win. Offensively, we didn't play well, missed a lot of big throws, couldn't convert on third downs and were inconsistent against a hugely inferior foe. Will be interesting to see what happens with Tua this week.
A whole 4th quarter of that would be nice. He saw pressure and got the job done. Those few passes looked just as clean as in college.
True but for me he (Flores) has earned some trust so far. I don’t remember ever having that good of feeling about a Coach in my Dolphin history.
A Dolphins W, a shutout against the Jets, Tua Time, and a likely Gase firing to follow? It's a good day.
He knew that 1st down pass out of bounds was bad for his first completion. Wasn't happy although his teammates were cheering for him. I like that.
Two good passes, both were good decisions and not easy throws. Not enough for me to throw out my evaluation of him considering it's two throws in garbage time, but definitely positive to see.
Seriously? Dude! That sucks. It was only for the last two minute drive of the game, but it was something! Don't worry though, there will be Tweets!
I don't want to be a pessimist but we should have beaten them by a lot more. This was a trend from past years playing down to the competition. Anyway a great win now a bye week get everyone healthy and get back on track.
It's a bit glass half empty outlook, but he's not wrong. We were the clearly superior team and should have been in the 30s against that group. We were not good in the second half offensively. Offense benefitted from a few big plays, big Jests penalties and mistakes and a putrid Jests offense.
He is wrong. 100% wrong. Miami won by 24 points and didn't allow them to score any points. That isn't playing down to a team. Jets were NEVER in this game.
To be honest, I was bored silly the entire game. We could have kept pressuring on D and really embarrassed them....or we could have kept playing downfield on offense and embarrassed them some more. I honestly believe that Flores showed mercy starting in the 2nd half because the Jets were that bad. This was like a varsity vs JV scrimmage...not sure it even counts as an actual game. I'll have to check our overall record to verify tomorrow.
Because I watched the game. I have seen games when Miami "plays down" to the opponent. Those games are close. They won the game 24-0. Fitzpatrick played like he has always played. Extremely streaky. The fact that the defense pitched a shut out shows how silly he is being.
Agreed. There were certainly things we need to improve offensively and to a lesser extent defensively, but it isnt fair to just expect a steam rolling of an NFL opponent, two factors alone make it difficult without even including the others: A) The focus and intensity of the team winning big WILL waver. It's not that they arent trying, it's just human nature. B) The team losing big will tend to dig deeper once they are in that hole to prevent being entirely embarrassed. As the other team loses some intensity it allows the losing team to make a few plays here and there to sort of just maintain.
Yep. I do think that Flores will call them out on this. Hard to do so because it's just hard to care about something when the reality is so clear. He'll need to focus in on the small things and require them to do everything with excellence. If then he doesn't want to run up a score in that situation he'll have to sit the first team players, or some of them, and give the second tier guys a chance to give it their all. That way you can require full effort and dominance from everyone without running into the problem of embarrassing opponents in brutal fashion.
I don't know how most of you guys just see rainbows and unicorns all of the time when Miami wins a game. I can't imagine Flores is in there throwing rose petals at their feet. No way.
If Tua begins to shine over Fitz it'll be interesting to see how he responds. If Flores is legit about starting the best player, will Fitz compete to keep his starting spot or will he be happy to take a back seat, ride the pine, and let Tua step up?
Whenever Miami wins a game by 24 points, holds the other team to a shutout with almost every linebacker hurt to the point where Brandon Jones was playing linebacker, first shut out in YEARS, getting their first double-digit 2 game win streak in years, in the first game where they were favored in years. You pessimists try so hard to keep hold of your anger.
Ok, first impressions without having looked at any stats yet... Offensively, Myles Gaskins is the real deal! That kid has great vision and my God is QUICK!! His runs between the tackles weren't that great but when he was able to hit the outside, he was gone! Fitz is Fitz! 3 touchdown passes...and TWO interceptions. Aggravating to no end! But as to the MAN himself, what character! Even when Tua was sent in, he was on the sideline, trying to fire the crowd up for Tua! Right man for our team at this time! Now the elephant in the room...Tua's 3rd down conversion...yea great but I'm not counting it for this purpose. All game long we couldn't convert a SINGEL 3rd down? Not a single one? Had we been playing ANYONE but the Jets, that would have come back to bite us in the butt! Flores DEFINITELY needs to address that! Defensively, granted I know it was the Jets, but they ***MAULED*** the Jets all game long! Great game. Now to Tua. It was only a few plays and his first pass scared the crap out of me as he was running for his life in the back of the endzone, but was utterly amazed at how accurate it was on the run. Second pass was cleaner and had quite a bit of zip on the ball. I'm fairly optimistic at this point!
Being favored and winning by 24 points, yea. If winning by 24 points and shutting out a team doesn't get you excited, maybe it is time to up the meds. You have a serious depression problem.
Good grief, "fans" *****ing about a win? It's all about exorcising demons. Beating Flacco for the very first time, not choking in prime time, beating teams that we are supposed to beat, Shutting out opponents. Is anybody really worried about the Rams at this point? Go Phins.
The Zombie version of Flacco? Come on guy lol The Jets had no interest in being on that field today. Yes, good win they were supposed to win but I just have an odd dissatisfaction with it. I don't think Miami played great overall as a team.
