If you’ve never had a groin injury before, I can tell you from personal experience it’s quite painful. I pulled my groin once doing combatives training in the army and good God Almighty, talk about a DEEP nagging pain that hurt each and every time you took a step. Stretching, ice, heat and time...there’s really nothing else you can do...morally...without risking further catastrophic injury
I pulled my groin in the corrections academy the week before defensive tactics, and I remember thinking that I'd have to drop out completely. Three days later it was fine without seeing a doctor (lots of ice and rest tho). I had a college teammate pull a groin muscle and he was out for almost a month, so I think it just depends on the injury and the person. There is definitely a chance he can play this week but I wouldn't bet on it.
The thing about a groin injury is if you don't let it heel completely, it's at greater risk for re-injury. Took me a couple of weeks before I could start running again, if memory serves me correctly.
