I just don't see why everyone likes Love so much. He looks like he's constantly trying to be Brett Favre, without half the physicial ability. Poor form and extremely dangerous, bad choices over and over. The fact that they (barely) lead to touchdowns and big plays doesn't change that they were too dangerous to try.
Herbert is the QB I would select at #5. I just think he's got too much natural ability and physical attributes to pass up. He definitely needs to be developed, but I accept that going in. Burrow will be OTB at #1 and Tua may or may not be traded up for at #3 or #4. So, if I'm the 'Phins GM I'm staying at #5 and taking Herbert. That said, I think Tua and Herbert are both going to be there at #5. If that happens, I believe Greier will draft Tua.
Lawrence is the best QB prospect in over 20 years... No way there will be a trade up for Lawrence....
In that time frame, I'd have him squarely behind Carson Palmer and Andrew Luck. More along the lines of Eli Manning.
Carson Palmer wasn't even considered a top 10 pick until his SR year. If he comes out as a redshirt junior he probably goes in the 2nd round.
It wasn't specified when they were the top prospect. Going into the draft where they were selected, I stand by my list. Heck, there have been plenty of guys who were considered to be a top pick before their final season who then dropped way down. It works both ways.
Andrew Luck absolutely.Hell I watched Lawarwnce this year and didn't really come away that impressed. He was outplayed by Burrow and it wasn't even close.
I think that Lawrence has the potential to be much, much better than Burrow or anyone else in this class. But I agree that he was inconsistent. We'll need to see how he does the coming season....if the next season exists. He won't even turn 21 until October, so he has a lot of room to grow. On that note, the fact that he'll be three years younger than Burrow in their rookie years makes him a much better prospect on its own.
Stumbled across a compilation of mocks from "a dozen of the biggest and most historically accurate mock drafters in the business". Guys like Kiper, Daniel Jeremiah, etc. (sorry but it's a Google Docs and it won't let me link it here). Anyway, the majority of them have us taking Herbert at #5, and only one has us taking Tua. I'm now 100% confident it will be Tua.
Ooof, that's a brutal take. As a Duck fan I hope you eat those words. I get the hesitancy, but I don't get why you dislike him THAT much. He's a physical freak, borderline brilliant, and had great success despite being on the worst Duck teams of the last 20 years and having 3 different Head Coaches.
