Also watched Knives Out in theatres around 2-3 weeks ago. It was good, like the critic consensus, but I wasn't expecting something so close to the vest. I originally thought the movie was going to take advantage of its ensemble cast, gently shifting the suspicions of the viewer to each family member. Instead, the movie kind of focuses on two suspects and unravels that. Still a good movie, but not a great one IMO. I had the "tweest" figured out halfway through.

    I finally watched 2017 Jumanji.

I see why that movie made so much money. It is a fun movie with fun performances. Karen Gillian is amazing as an awkward teen stuck in an adult body. Jack Black is super fun, and that was one of the nicest portrayals of the self-centered hot chick. She wasn't mean just to be mean. Probably the best well rounded attractive lady written in a cheesy film I have seen in a long time if not ever.

Kevin Hart was Kevin Hart. I did not think his character was well written. Still a fun character though. Just never felt he was the kid he was supposed to be. It was like three kids and Kevin Hart.

Overall, I think I should watch the second movie.

Saw Star Wars - the Rise of Skywalker today.

I kind of wish I hadn't. I know I didn't like it as much as I was hoping to, and feel like they doubled down on all the stuff I didn't like in the Last Jedi, and did more that made so much (past and present) seem so unimportant. Everything just seemed very convenient, and not in a way that left me thinking about the trail that got me there to the end, but rather they just wanted a way to end all the stories.

Saw 1917 on Sunday night. Not my favorite movie at all, but man it's unique. Wasn't what I thought it would be, but it was a experience in the theater.

Watched THE AERONAUTS on Amazon prime. Very good. Based on a true story. It's about the early days of balloon flying and this movie is about a world setting flight in altitude. I have a fear of heights and there were about twenty thirty minutes where I was feeling a bit queasy watching them do things at high heights that I wouldn't have been able to do. The acting is superb. Well worth the watch

John Wick 3. Stylish and good action sequences. Not enough story or dialogue to keep me wanting future movies.

I just saw Birds of Prey. I enjoyed it. I didn't love it. I think the action is very well shot. No shaky cam BS. It isn't the SJW movie that the whiney people on the internet are warning you about. Unless your idea of SJW is starring a woman and doesn't hyper sexualize them.

I really want to like it more than I did. Though I would see a Birds of Prey movie without Harley, and I would see a Harley sequel. However, if I was a DC fan I would be so annoyed with what they did to Cassandra Cain because that would mean I wouldn't be able to see a Cassandra Cain movie. Learning about her comic book story made me want to see one. Totally different character. Why even use the name? Same with Black Mask and Zsasz.

    Needs more Kite Man.

    Kite man, hell yea!

I haven't seen Birds of Prey, but the reviews I've watched have been pretty consistent. They all have it as a not bad, but not good movie. They all loved the acting for Harley, Black Canary, Huntress and Black Mask. But they all complained that the villain was one dimensional. Basically, he just wants to kill Harley b/c he hates women. They also complained that every man in the movie just hates women (my usual reviewers that I watch are both men and women). They seemed mixed on the action. More enjoyed than not tough. I'm a big fan of the Harley character and I thought Robbie nailed it in Suicide Squad, but I'll probably wait to see this one on video. But I will definitely see it.

I watched the movie. He wants to kill Harley for many reasons and none of them is because he hates women. He is evil and power hungry. We're never learn why that is.

I find the idea that all three men just hate women is completely off base. You should probably find some more mature film reviewers.

Basically everyone who hates Harley hates her because she is a terrible human being who did terrible stuff to them, however they never retaliated because they were afraid of the Joker.

So now they are broken up everyone wants their revenge.

Uncut Gems. Holy crap. 10/10 and I say this as someone they generally hates Sandler. It was a 2 hour adrenaline rush.

I also rewatched my all time favorite movie, Children of Men. Highly recommend that one too.

I watched Detective Pikachu over the weekend, and really enjoyed it. Ryan Reynolds is wonderful in the role, and it was a lot funnier than I expected. I'm on the periphery of understanding Pokemon because my daughter is into it, but I still knew enough to get it.

I have enough knowledge because I am into nerd stuff and like people talking about nerd stuff, so I had a very basic understanding of Pokemon.

I think it was a very enjoyable movie and I would LOVE to see more movies in this universe and setting.

I watched the first hour of Rocketman, and was shocked at the low production values. It very much looked like a mid grade network tv show, in both sets and cinematography. It never really had the look or feel of even an average quality Hollywood movie.

On top of that, it was dull and the acting was mediocre. I turned it off and have no desire to finish it.

I watched Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. The nostalgia of it all was the best part. I used to love Kevin Smith’s movies but the last few have been bad. The last one I really liked was Red State.

It's on Amazon Prime if you have that. There were 3 or 4 laugh out loud moments. The meta parts and cameos were the best parts of it.

I watched Knives Out, and came away a little disappointed. It was fine, but I was really expecting more. I don't wan to say too much to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it wasn't a special, or memorable movie. Just one that I'll watch once, think it was ok, and move on.

100% better than I thought it would be. I enjoyed the action. I enjoyed the comedy. I enjoyed the characters. I have seen enough normal person becomes a spy for reasons movies, so it didn't surprise me. Just thought it was highly enjoyable.

Finally watched Moana and Coco with my older kid. Loved Moana. Great music and fun story. Never thought the ROck could sing. Coco was certainly a better story, but didn't carry the usual emotions from a Pixar movie. though the ending was touching.

Moana is terrific. Our whole family has enjoyed it many times over, and we listen to the music as part of the larger Disney mix with our two girls.

I didn't like Coco at all, honestly. Not the story and not the music. Part of that is probably because we love The Book of Life so much and have watched it many times over for years, and it sort of felt like it was a knock off of that, with far worse humor and music.
