Guy is a chandelier!Ankles and hip with best talent in college football and cant stay on field.
Burrow has played a much tougher schedule to put up those numbers!

Y'all know it is quite possible for both Burrow and Tua to have been excellent college QBs and both be excellent pro QBs? It's not an either/or.

Also, let's not pretend that the LSU offense is Burrow + scrubs. They have serious talent. Both Tua and Burrow look to be players who can maximize that talent instead of being wholly reliant upon it.

This thread will get even more interesting once we find out tomorrow if Tua is declaring for the NFL. Feels like an 80% chance he will, but when you are in the moment stepping back to make a more objective decision can be difficult. Tua may feel obligated to return and lead Bama to another Title. All he has to do is risk his own NFL future in doing so.....

I don't see the "risk" if you will. If Tua returns to finish his college career and succeeds, whether or not Alabama wins a national championship then he's proven that he's physically durable and worth being drafted in the NFL. If he gets hurt yet again, then all he's done is validate what many have concerns...that he's injury prone and not drafting him was a good call.

I'd rather him get hurt yet again in college than to have us draft him, he gets hurt and then we're out a quarterback yet again.

I hope they‘ll take Tua with the 5th overall… Would be the 3. time somebody falling to us and look what the other 2 (Tunsil, Minkah) did for us. We could give him time thx to Fitz and last but not least he wears #13 for crying out loud. Wouldn‘t like a trade up much, then it has to work out imo.

I guess you're just looking at last year's stats. That's what happens when average fans try to claim someone as being extraordinary. They cherry pick.

Tua has had a better college career than the guy who was beat out by Haskins and had to change schools. Tua has a better comp%, better Y/A, AY/A, TD%, INT%, more Total TD's, and a tie in Total INT's. The 28 point difference in passer rating...not 2 mind you...says as much.

    Tua:

Burrow entered college with an absolute noodle arm, his coaches even told him he throws "like a girl" their words not mine.

I dont think it's fair to compare someone who wasnt ready to play college ball right away to someone who developed fairly early.

I'm not saying Burrow will be better, but you're neglecting a lot of info with that broad view in my opinion.

How you step on the field your Freshman/Sophmore years shouldnt be held against you.

Who cares if he transferred due to Haskins? Are you trying to argue Haskins is a better QB? Everyone knows that is false without him even stepping on an NFL field (because Haskins is awful).

Sure, let's ignore some games in order to make a certain player look better. Burrow's arm hasn't really changed much. I'm sure he's become more confident and learned how to read defenses better, but his arm was weak as a freshman and it's weak as a SR. Last season, as a JUNIOR, and already spending 4 years in college, Burrow had a 57 comp%, 2900 yards, 7.6 Y/A, 16 TD's, and 5 INT's with a 133 passer rating. You can bet your *** I'm looking at that year. I mean, I'm looking at Tua's junior season, too. lol

I care. One year wonders scare me. Sometimes they work out, however, there is something to be said about a player who has a good year, then has people go over all their tape looking for holes, and then has another good year.

Tua had two great years, even if injury shortened one of them. Burrow only had one. That frightens me as much as Tua's injury.

You only need to move to 3 to get Tua. Cinci is taking Burrows and Washington is taking Young (of those two it might be harder to get Washington to budge.. they're all in on Young). So as long as Cinci takes Burrows, Tua at #3 is a lock.

I remember when Josh Rosen was picked before Lamar Jackson.

I remember when Russell Wilson wasn't picked until the 3rd round...

Do I need to go on?

Not insider info per se, but I live in the area (I know many Ravens and Redskins fans) and every Redskins fan I know says the owner likes Haskins so they won't go after a QB, their new coach Ron Rivera also came out and said he thinks Haskins can become a franchise QB, and that Redskins vs. Giants game was widely considered by both fanbases to be the "Chase Young bowl".

You think Dolphins fans wanted to tank for a QB? Redskins fans wanted to tank for Young! So I'm only going off of what I'm hearing, but if you look at mock drafts even after Tua you'll notice they all have the Redskins taking Young (or at least that's all I've seen).

So no insider info, but they seem to be a lock for Young.

Yeah didn't Haskins go to prep school with Snyder's kid and they are buddies or something? Was more along the lines of how attached they are to Young, rather than the chance they would pick a QB. Like if the Chargers offered up the #6 and next years first rounder (and whatever filler is needed) would they say no?

I think just taking Young is the best move (premier talent at premier position), but it's a roster that could potentially use a few extra picks.

Hardly unique among ownership in that regard. Snyder just has kind of a loathsome personality and rep to go along with, and has now been in the league longer than some newcomers to the moron ranks like Actual Criminal Jimmy Haslam.

I’ve heard that but I think left tackle is a massive need assuming Trent Williams bolts out and that kid thomas from Georgia is gonna have a grade to validate it. You gotta remember too they got ryan Kerrigan and Montez sweat on the edge already.

me... I’m going to 2 if possible for my qb. Eliminate the trump

He reminds me more of Matt Leinart with a better deep ball and mobility. I dont mean that as a huge negative btw Leinart did have some good traits just not the full package.

I'll give him a chance if we take him obviously and root for his success.

I like Burrow better but Im not sold on him either. This might be a draft that lacks a decent QB at any selection the more I look at it. I still think the team should take someone they like though regardless of who it is or how much I like/dislike the pick.

The big question for Burrow is where was he in the years before? I'm not saying there aren't answers, but that's the question. Otherwise, he's proven himself a winner, consistent, and talented this year, and he has size.

Tua has also proven himself a winner, intelligent, talented and consistent. He lacks prototypical size. The big question for him is injuries. I don't know if there is decent data out there showing how college injury history, specific to injury type, project to a pro career, if there is, then consider it. However, draft purposes you can't second guess everything. What if we don't and he's great. What if we do and he isn't? Ignore it. If everything looks like Tua will return to good health and his problems will be later on in life, and there's no reliable data to say that his overall injury history is a guarantee of problems, then I say you go get him. His talent his worth the risk.

Thus my thread elsewhere - the Dolphins will try to trade for Burrow and for Tua and get one or the other. I'm not sure which one they like more, but I think they try every door, look at every option, and if they find any guaranteed way to get either one of those guys, they'll do it.

Like I said he came into college with an arm that made Pennington look like he had a cannon before his injuries.

He had to work extremely hard his first few seasons to get his arm strength up to par.

CK has touched on this in the Club in regards to Burrow's arm strength.

There is just no question that Burrow has a below average arm. The REAL question is, can he make that work in the NFL? CK used Daniel Jones as an example. CK, and others, didn't like Jones due to the fact that his arm is weak. However, he's made it work up to this point in the NFL. Can Burrow do it?

I think it's a huge risk to think that Burrow can do what so many other QB's before him haven't. However, someone (probably Cinci) will take that risk.

I dont necessarily believe charting throws is a good way to measure arm strength. Mainly due to the fact there is no evidence a player is throwing at his maximum velocity on any given throw.

That said, his arm isnt incredibly strong and is fairly average, but thankfully that is probably the easiest thing to improve at least a decent amount.

If he checks the other boxes I'd be entirely behind him.

FWIW I dont think CK is any more accurate than the average fan here. I respect his effort and work, but I dont take his opinion as any sort of gospel above anyone elses.

He's measuring throws by time. It's a pretty good method. I'd bet that CK watches more film and understands more of the intricacies of the NFL than the average fan.

I think it comes down to how much can burrows other aspects of his game offset any potential arm limitations. And how much can a team adjust its scheme if need be to offset. Ie minimal outside breaking outside the #s etc. the concern for me would be how long before dcs clog the middle and the underneath and force him to beat them with his arm outside the #s and when they do can he.

pro day workout needs to be about uncovering any arm limitations imo.

The GMs who have jobs make stupid picks all the time. They think they're smarter than they are, they go by innate biases based on a version of the game no longer played and they trust the wrong scouts.

I heard one today where they said it depended on 1)whether Detroit believed Stafford will be back at 100% and 2)whether someone trades up to Detroit's spot to get Tua.

This is exactly it. Burrow goes #1, Washington just took Haskins and has a more than viable QB alternative pick in Chase Young.

Detroit has been pretty insistent that Stafford is their guy, but it is an injury that has been ongoing for 2 years now. The problem for Detroit is that their GM and coach are on the hot seat, and may not want to wait on a QB who will be iffy to play much year 1. However, their aren't really need picks for them that line up with positional value - CB and DT aren't really top 5 pick material, but they need both more than an LT or WR, so a trade down makes a ton of sense.

Giants are probably happy to stand pat and take whomever of Jeudy and Andrew Thomas they prefer.
