All of the pundits were saying we were going to be the worst in history. And now where’s all the chit talkers? with a squad of just average guys and Fitz who is a stone cold leader, we are reshaping the team that was years of mediocrity. All the Florez haters have to really look at what he’s done with a undermanned teamed. I think we have a record of guys on IT. Really enjoyed this win.
There was a post in the game day thread that said something like it’s worth way more to find a coaching staff that can pull off wins win this talent rather than drafting 4-5 slots higher. I couldn’t agree with that sentiment more.
Vegas predicted 4.5 wins this season from the Dolphins: https://www.sportsoddshistory.com/nfl-win/?y=2019&sa=nfl&t=win&o=t Worst in the league yes, nowhere close to worst in history. And it actually looks like Vegas might be correct with their 4-5 wins prediction.
These guys are gamers. You all are so star stuck that you need the big name to feel important. No name guys who WORK and GRIND. Florez is unpredictable. Punter to holder to T F’n TD. I know trick play. Haters gotta hate.
I'm not entirely sure we're worse than Cincinnati to be honest. They did win today, but they've been getting blown out all year long.
Yeah I just meant that's what Vegas was predicting. Cinci isn't a pushover either now that Dalton is back. And Washington won! So I think there is no longer a clear "worst in the league" team going by recent play. Dolphins, Skins, Cinci and Giants all in the same boat. I'm just shocked Atlanta is so weak this year (they're also 3-9). Anyway, Dolphins play Jets, Giants and Cinci so we'll see who really is the worst!!
Just win. So many point out the 1st pick isn’t all that. Being in the top area, and good coaching. That’s what we’re dealing with.
I know this is old, but I think the main difference between us is QB. It's why I wasnt shocked we beat the Jets or Colts, we had a QB advantage and that goes a long way. Especially when neither team is particularly good to begin with. The Bengals are a better team with Dalton, we are the better team if he sits.
I just "feel" like the team has a new culture. Something that every coach that's come in has said they would like to change but never did. It's still early but with the 2 most guys on IR, we seem to keep putting players no one ever heard of into the game and getting the same or better results. Granted those results aren't wins which ultimately are the barometer that needs to be achieved but having a coach that can, on the surface, actually coach up players it encouraging. But still with a tinge of skepticism as we've all been burned before.
Coaching staff in the NFL plays a huge role in a teams success. A good coach will get your team 3 points each game just on "brain-trust" alone.
Was this prediction before or after the gutting of our roster? I didn't see a date on the webpage. If this was BEFORE the gutting of our roster, then this is a TRUE testament to a first year head coach taking a roster of no ones and achieving this many wins. If it was after then eh, congrats on an accurate prediction.
The prediction was right before season begin (all archived odds like that are final odds), so after the trades.
Part of the reason why people were so down on the phins was getting blown out by Baltimore and NE in the first 2 weeks. Baltimore was supposed to be average at a projected 8.5 wins. Getting blown out by Baltimore doesn't seem so bad in hindsight, but at the time no one thought Baltimore was going to have a 13 win season and get 1st seed in the AFC.
That...and we started 0-7. So, regardless of predictions, it seemed certain that we were not going to win a game all year.
And did you notice how far Vegas started shifting the line in Dolphin games after 2 weeks? Those were college-type lines.
I am extremely proud of what this team accomplished this season and looking back, I wouldn't trade a few of those wins for Joe Burrow. I think the integrity of our staff finding ways to win down the stretch, much less NE in a must-win game for them at home, speaks volumes of what we can expect the next couple of years. I'm still a doubter of Grier and his ability to draft but that's secondary to what Flores did with a group of no-name, no-talent players who were playing like Super Bowl champs. I dreaded this season when it first started but to be honest, I'm going to remember this one for awhile. It was special for a number of reasons and I hope it's year one of a long career for Flores.
