Anyone here noticing how much a lot of these guys have improved under this staff?

With Gase and Philbin, it felt like if we had a guy, and he was bad, he would always be bad. Basically, whoever we drafted is the exact player we had for their entire tenure.

Think about how we started this season.
They wanted Needham to make the team so bad, and he got so many preseason looks, but he was so bad that he didn't even make the roster.

Rowe was picked on mercilessly by QBs.

    McMillan was left for dead.

Now look at these guys. Needham looks like he could legitimately be a probowler. Rowe got a position change, and we are now talking extension. McMillian has been so good in run support.

    Now think about offense.

Parker was one foot out the door.

Gesicki was a waste of a draft pick.

Now look. Parker might finally become the guy we drafted.

Gesicki looks like he could really emerge as a top tight end in the league.

Oh, and by the way, Flores spoke pretty highly of Rosen this week. Hmmmmm....

My point is, it is more than Xs and Os. These guys have become really good players. I think with Gase, people just expected him to sprinkle some magical scheme onto the team, and everyone would just be good.

This staff is a great group of teachers. I love watching these guys grow as players!

I've noticed it especially with Gesicki, Parker, Raekwon, and of course Jerome Baker who has been rock solid for us.

Gase was so obsessed with making him a blocker, he completely ignored that he was an overglorified WR. Work with these guys not against their nature!

Exactly. Take the seam threat TE and make him block and use the blocking TE to catch passes. Not just for a play or two but ALL season.

That must be the genius part of Gase and we were too stupid to see it.

And yeah, I think that Flores and company is the best coaching staff we've had since Jimmy Johnson, heck maybe even Shula. These guys are literally making Chicken Salad... Winning names with nobodies scraps and castoff's. I'm impressed.

I will be on board with Flores when we have back to back winning seasons.

I like the fact that we are among the least penalized teams.
I like the fact that we are getting good effort and development of unheralded players.
I like that when there are injuries the next man up steps up and contributes.
I like that several high profile draftees are finally living up to expectations.
I like the fact that there has been steady improvement in many statistical areas throughout the year.
I like the fact that we aren’t relying on smoke and mirrors such as gimmick plays or lucky bounces to get our wins.

I remain unconvinced about play calling and game planning.
I remain unconvinced that Flores can sustain the team’s effort and intensity over longer time periods.
I remain unconvinced by the fact that a lot of the talent we let walk out the door is performing well for other teams. That’s not all on Flores, but he was in the room when a lot of those decisions were made.

There is nothing I actively dislike about Flores as a HC yet.

Since I was all aboard on Gase after year 1, and was cautiously optimistic after Philbin’s year 1, this time round I will wait and see.

I'm in the same state of mind- Flores has been impressive with three wins and this rag-tag squad. The real goal is to consistently win 10+ games though and we haven't seen anything that tells us that's where we'll be in 2020 or 2021. We can praise Flores all day long for his three wins with inferior talent, but at the same time you also have to cuss Grier for fielding a team this horrendous.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to Grier getting it right with around 20 new players 3-4 months from now...none of us will be celebrating another 4-win season next year if he gets it wrong. It's impossible to pass judgement today or at the end of this season, even if we end on a pretty good win streak against other weak teams.

One thing I am looking at though- Gase finished last season 7-9 in Miami....this squad has a real chance of tying that record. That may be good or bad at the end of the day since it hurts our draft picks, but I will be impressed with Flores anyway if he can win a few more.

Also, though, look at the starters on IR. We get those guys back, and now we have solid depth at these positions, without even going out and getting new players. It certainly changes the needs in the upcoming draft.
