It feels like this has been an ongoing saga. It is clear that he doesn't want him to be here, and the Dolphins don't want him here. Call it a hunch, but I think a 5th gets this done.
I think any and all decent players are almost liabilities in a year like this where the objective is to be terrible and lose games. It makes sense to trade Kenyan Drake unless you believe he's capable of being a feature RB which I kind of doubt. You would've had to re-sign in the near future anyway. Odds are you'd prefer to give that money to someone else.
Hes not that good anyways... the rams need a running back since todd gurley is damages goods by now... if you can get anything out of them just trade him..
Drake could be a superstar for a team but there's something going on behind the scenes. That's now two coaches that have played less talented players over Drake to send some sort of message. Not sure if it's work ethic, attitude or what...but they may as well trade him if there's a buyer out there.
Well there is definitely something up with him, he's the most underutilized RB I've seen and it's not for lack of talent. I don't know that he would be a superstar somewhere but he has the skills to be a featured back on a team. For whatever reason the coaching staffs have not liked this guy and I'd like to know what the problem is. I'm sure Kenyan is ready to move on too. If I were him I'd be aggravated over the lack of playing time. I think at best were looking at a 4th round pick for him, probably a 5th.
Where do you think he could end up going though? That's the question really. Who needs a RB the most right now?
Pittsburgh are one hit on Connor away from needing a RB. I think Samuels is out for a while, maybe even on IR so if Connor goes down - and he does have a recurring ankle problem, they're relying on a wet behind the ears rookie (Benny Snell) and an over the hill has-been (Roosevelt Nix).
I think he would be a damn good #2 HB on a team that has a #1. Last year he had 173 touches for 1012 yards and 9 TDs thats comparable to some of the better #2 HB's in the NFL. Just because he's not starting material doesn't mean he can't contribute which he clearly did last year.
Wait, Drake had that many yards last season? I’ve not looked it up but if that is indeed the case, that’s an average of 5.8 yards a carry. At 5.8 yards per carry, we should have been MUCH better than 6-10
Just saw Drake didn't travel with the team to Pit and hes not injured. Looks like theres a possibility he might be gone this week.
Lions would make the most sense. Maybe Arizona might want to step in at the last second depending on how they view their playoff chances.
Arizona dont have any playoff hopes... they got a good quarterback but their defense is possibly the worst in the league after the game i watched today.
I'm hoping we didn't just give him away- some analysts were expecting a 4th in compensation. I can't see letting him go for that and I personally would have held out for a 2nd rounder (or a 3rd and a player) based on his production last season.
We got a fourth for Ajayi the year following his pro bowl season where he rushed for multiple 200 yd games. A 4th for drake a couple days before the deadline is probably fair. Would love a 2nd or 3rd but would be fine with a 4th.
I'd be fine if we got a fifth rounder for him. He'll be gone after this season anyway, so anything is better than nothing.
I'll just be happy when he's gone and starts scoring points for my fantasy side. Been stashing him for ages waiting for him to be traded.
I dont think a third is insane value. It's where he was drafted and has basically lived up to that. Hes proven he can spring some big gains on the ground and air making him a good utility back to have on a winning team. I'd say an early 3rd is his max value and a 5th should be his minimum value.
People on this board are off their rockers. Probably the same people who saw us winning 10 games this season and competing for the playoffs. Sometimes, I think this board becomes an echo chamber, and people start to see some of these guys as much better players than they actually are. Drake had flash and promise, and he certainly had moments, but that is all they were - moments. Two coaching staffs were not particularly fond of him, and he wasn't gonna resign. Not exactly sad to see him go.
So, he cost us a third and we traded him for a sixth, creating a hole that we have to fill? Typical of Miami's MO.
I think you are totally misreading the situation. We drafted him with a 3rd and we get a player on a rookie contract which is super cheap. Drake literally has games left on his contract right now. Arizona knows this, and they also know that he is not good enough to franchise. Basically, he could walk at the end of the season and there is nothing that they can do about it. People on this board thinking that we would get a 2nd or 3rd are insane. First of all, Drake is not worth a 2nd or 3rd. But people that are overestimating his ability are also disregarding his contract completely. How much is the most in terms of draft picks that you would be willing to give up for a player that you only have under contract for a few more games? A 2nd or 3rd should be virtually off the table. Honestly, a 5 is probably on the high end of the spectrum. I think that Grier did a fabulous job. Drake was NOT coming back, and we got compensation.
