The writing is on the wall for Miami Dolphins - 09/02/2008 - MiamiHerald.com

Good article from the Miami Herald about how this team believes they could do special things this season. And I'm proud to say I am right there with them. I'm a believer.

    Why not us?

The Jets were 1-16 the year before Parcells took over. He did a remarkable job in his very first year over there. They were 9-7 in his first year, I think they went 12-4 in year 2..

Ill take both those records...but we do have alot to prove, we have a very young team that needs to gel some more, we have some obviously talent issues at Wideout and on defense that needs to be filled. We have not played one FULL game against NFL talent and we have been the laughing stock of the NFL for a few years now, so talk means nothing anymore to me..

Show me the Wins and I will start believing more.. That said I hope we do well and im excited for the season. Just not drinking the Koolaid yet..

As soon as Wayne hired Parcells and put him in charge of football operations I think the league stopped laughing and we gained a measure of respect, maybe just a guarded respect but at least some respect.

Dolphins fans have every right to have reservations. We've had to endure a lot over the last few years, and last season was incredibly difficult. I wouldn't wish a season like that on any fan... outside of Jets fans.

However, there is reason to be optimistic... if only to the point that you know that we will not repeat the bungling efforts of 2007. That just isn't going to happen. I'm 100% on it... and it's not just because we hired the Tuna. It's what the Tuna has done in the short time he's been a Miami Dolphin.

We are a much better football team, and the Jets are going to find that out on Sunday.

Instead of the comparison to the Jets, I'm wondering if the Saints might be a better comparison. A Parcells protege taking over the team, and a successful vet qb comes in to stabilize the offense.

Personally, I don't expect the Saints turnaround this year, but certainly, anything can happen.

Parcells was the GM with Jets, & the OC was Henning. It's kind of ironic, Testaverde was the old vet they brought in and Pennington was then the newly drafted QB.

Did you see that Cowboys vs Saints game 2 years ago?

That guy pulled out all the stops to beat his former boss. It was a great game. The Saints beat the Cowboys, they used an onside kick and a bunch of trick plays. You should have seen the expression on Bill's face. :pointlol:

Lets just enjoy the season one game at a time, it couldn't be worse than last year, and it will be fun to watch. Now let's start off by surprising Farvay and the Jests!
