Look we are never going to agree on this subject. To me Defensive lineman have more direct affect on a game then a Kicker. If you think Kickers have more direct effect on a game thats your opinion. But at least you know why I started the thread in an appopriate section. This all started because two people were talking about J Feeley in a thread about Alleman.( I think thats how you spell it) Anyway I think this thread has been played out and needs no more discussion. If you feel you must reply I will read. We are all Dolphans and though we may disagree I mean no disrepect and I have much more incommon with you then I do a Jet's fan.

I can understand the logic behind why a clutch kicker is more valuable than a pass rusher, but if it were between Mare in his prime and Taylor in his prime, I'd go Jason Taylor without question.

I think we are working off of different definitions of "direct" - that being said it's 100% that this thread will never stop if it has to end with agreement. I understand why you started it, but for me the issue was already complete so it seemed a little like stirring things up from the get go.

This has certainly ran it's course.

Though it was probably much more civil because you were a fellow phin fan than it would have been if a Jets fan wanted the same debate.

Not really sure if this was a serious debate or just a joke but I would take a pass rusher any day of the week over a kicker. Heck, if I am right, our kicker this season was an undrafted free agent. You wont see many quality pass rushers that were undrafted.

well thanks for starting the thread anyway. You can argue both ways and it makes the mind think in a different direction.

Out of the box is good

I really disagree with that statement and if you look at the draft you'll see that most of the NFL also disagree with you. Look at the Dolphins last year. We had no NT and were run on constantly and obviously won few games despite having an excellent kicker. Now obviously every lineman's play is dependent on the work of the whole but I believe that if we had had a Ferguson manning the middle last year than our record would have a couple of more wins in it.

Respectfully I'm not dealing with this thread again - just re-read everything I said in it. I still stand by it 100% and that will not change.

    Go Fins.

If they were that valuable they'd be drafted all the time. WHy aren't they? Because their not that valuable. Kickers will not be in a position to win a game for the team if the D sucks. If the QB is passing all over your team, it doesn't matter how good you are. That's why we let a very accurate kicker walk for free. Think a pass rusher would be let go so un-ceremoniously? Just look at the deity himself, Parcells. Loves pass rushers. Loves pass rushers. Is known to love pass rushers.

    Could care less about kickers.
