Looks like Travis and 3ypc are the only ones getting it right. Unless it's for a franchise QB you don't trade the only legitimate O-lineman we have. Especially since we mostly suck at drafting them.

I mean, just my opinion, but all players should be for sale at any time ... as long as the price is right. If someone like Houston wants to offer a trio of first rounders a load of several lower round picks as well? Yeah ok sure.

A swap for Clowney? That would get Grier fired sooner than later imo.

So pretty much all the noise is from other teams hoping to pry a pro-bowl LT talent away for cheap. The price just rose by another first rounder.

Seems like the kind of thing that happens pretty regularly though, team A calls about a target on team B, gets rebuffed, but leaks to the media hoping for some movement.

At this point, Tunsil and Howard are our only two all-Pros left on the roster. If they trade either of them before the season opener, I really think I'm looking for a new team to support. You don't trade home-grown talent unless their replacement is just as good or better (AKA, Ajayi traded to feature Drake).

No matter what the new front office strategy may be, we need young leaders that can actually lead.

Kiko, I’d be OK with seeing him cut. The younger guys appear to be doing what he does only cheaper and maybe better.

Stills, I wouldn’t be happy to see go. I think he brings some very valuable attributes to the offense that we can’t replace easily. Having said that there appears to be some issue between him and Flores. If we could trade him for an interior OL then I could live with it. I’d be very unhappy to see him cut or traded for future draft picks.

Jones. He really seems to have gotten his head twisted the wrong way ever since he got his big payday. We all know what he’s capable of, but his salary demands he play at or near his best every game. We didn’t get that from him last year. I’d like Flores to show that he can turn around a player with an iffy attitude rather than take the Philbin/Gase approach of shipping out players they didn’t connect with.

Getting picks for any of those guys in a trade would be nice. I don't think just cutting any of them would be a good move -especially Stills as he is our best deep threat.

I'll believe it when something concrete surfaces. This is more non-news fluff because there's nothing else to talk about (now that the Flores has it out for Stills story was proven a lie).

Luck just retired from the NFL.

I'm actually happy Indy didn't get another Peyton Manning out of Luck. Still mad at them for winning that Suck for Luck sweepstakes. Hopefully they don't try and repeat that this year to get the #1 pick in 2020.

Yeah, I was joking about the Luck trade because he just retired.

Now, I firmly believe the Colts will tank to get the #1 pick again. They might wait on it this season and give Jacoby Brissett a real shot (and he is too good for them to win less than four games), so they'll need to get rid of him for 2020 if he does not get the Colts to the playoffs in 2019.

This season? A promising young left guard (AKA 1st-3rd rounder from 2018 or 2019) AND a 1st round pick. If I don't have a week 1 starter then I'm not interested no matter what. Trading solid linemen has set this franchise back almost two decades and I simply don't want to play that game.

It would have to be a lot of picks from a bad team.

I'd rather have Tunsil than two firsts from a perennial winner. You're lucky with either pick if you find a player the caliber of Tunsil, even if you come out even with pick one you still need to hit on pick two to increase your value.

Picks are not as valuable as known players.

Stills is a pretty good Wide Receiver but too much of a distraction, it will be a shame to let him go but you need to get this team on one thing and that's playing football.

The thing with Luck (as we’ve extensively discussed before) is that he’s never lived up to his billing. His career overall was not that much better than Tannehill’s with one glaring exception - his winning of 80%+ of 0-7 point games in his first three years in the league (the League average is 50% of course but HoF QBs usually have between 55% and 65% win % in 0-7 point games). After his first 3 years he was exactly 50% in 0-7 point games.

The only thing I can hope fore is that Indy’s Tank for Tua year will be as successful long term as their Suck for Luck year.

I haven’t seen the betting market but I’d put money on Indy getting the #1 overall pick in 2020.

The lines for total wins went dark at sportsbook.ag last night. They're up again now. I can't believe it but Indy went down from 9.5 wins to 7.5, which is exactly the difference between a starting QB and a backup QB (~ 2 wins), no more... no presumed "tanking" among bookies.

Miami is still the worst at 4.5 wins. What's so funny is that our closest competition for the #1 draft pick is.. Arizona! with Kyler Murray lol:

This season is actually going to be interesting. Not only Rosen but also Murray as well as Gase/Darnold and the Jets.

Interesting. With the line moving the same amount as an average starting QB to an average backup that tells us 1 of 2 things. Either Luck and Brisset are both considered about league average for their positions, or Luck is an Elite QB and Brisset is an Elite backup. (NB I am totally discounting the hypothesis that both are below average). Considering Brisset’s performance when he forced to start and the lack of suitors for him to become someone’s starter I don’t find the proposition that Jacoby is Elite for a backup QB very convincing.

If I was a bettor damn that under looks enticing. Brissett’s performance isn’t something I’d bet on carrying a team to 8-8 and Indy tanked the lost time they lost their franchise QB.

Reports are there was interest, but Indy shot it all down immediately because of Lucks injury history.

The guy played one year as a starter in a lost Chuck Pagano season with a trash team. I would suspect that with better coaching and surrounding talent, 7 wins isnt unreasonable.

At the risk of reopening a pointless debate, Luck had a much better arc than Tannehill with an arrow pointing up. Some baseline stats may have been similar, but Luck was clearly better.

As for Houston, I still cant figure out what we are doing there. I find it hard to see us giving up a big haul for a player to come in during a reset season.

Yeah, and the exit of Luck just days before the end of preseason is the perfect excuse to repeat what they did back in 2011. They had no issue bombing during the whole Suck for Luck thing. They embraced it. Didn't they trot out Curtis Painter that year? Yeah, according to PFR Painter and Kerry Collins both played that year and they both had 66 passer ratings.

So, I might be jealous of the Colts being given a golden ticket to suck if not for the fact I'm not in love with any of the prospects coming out, Tua included. But why would I be? 2012 is all the evidence you need. The guys at the top of the draft are usually over-rated while the guys at the bottom are usually under-rated.

If the 2012 draft tells you anything it's that drafting a QB has a lot to do with putting the guy in the right position and not drafting someone who totally sucks. Luck was worth the top pick but he got beat up. Knowing what we do now, none of use would've drafted RGIII or Tannehill or Weeden or Osweiler immediately thereafter.

The only guy to win has been Russell Wilson and that success is highly correlated with the team he got drafted by. I admire Russell Wilson but if Wilson got drafted by the Colts he wouldn't have a Super Bowl (yet). And Nick Foles was a bust too until his recent Play-off success in Philly. He had the luxury of not having to do the heavy lifting. it's great what he did, but it's not like he played a full season. Wentz got the Eagles there and Foles finished it off with a ton of support. I guess you could look at Kirk Cousins as a success but he's not a HoF guy. He's better than average on a good day.

So I go into 2020 knowing that it's not about getting the perfect QB prospect as much as it is finding someone who can play and finding a way to put that guy in good position.

If the Colts end up at #1 and take someone like Tua with a bunch of fanfare, good for them, I guess.

Think the rest of the Colts roster is too good for them to tank - good offensive weapons, vastly improved OL, great young D plus Brissett is pretty good. If they win less than 4 games, Reich should get fired
