http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3650 what would you guys think about him in Miami
I would like him, as the future may hold something great with this guy. Im expecting Jacksonville to give a good look at him though if we don't jump on him.
I wouldn't be suprised if we got him, as we just waived the Armstrong kid. Hope Armstrong makes it to the PS.
We can't really bring in for a look unless he clears waivers. If we claim him, hes ours and we are responsible for his salary and have to cut another player to make room for him. I would say to stay clear of him. If he couldn't make it there with Tom Brady throwing him the ball and Randy Moss as the number one WR, hes not going to be able to make it here.
Not sure if he was just a bust in their system or just not good at the nfl level. But thats a couple pats draft picks the past couple years that have not lived up to the billing. I would say Merriweather is another. They are trying to bring in older vets again as the draft has not been kind to them (ie. lamont jordan) and losing young proven players, starters and backups (ie: Samuels and that backup cb forget his name) due to free agency I really doubt Meyo will not perform well, but NE needs him to be a realized top pick. The empire in NE is slowly coming down and I couldn't be happier. I don't see them winning more than 11 games this year even with Brady healthy all year, but they will probably still win the div. Not sure if C Jackson would be worth a look, but i'm sure our Mgt have their opinions on him. Would be really sweet if he was given a look and came in and excelled for us. How sweet would that be.
Hell yeah! Bring Him in. As one Gator who watched him every play through college, the guy has promise. He just wasn't in the Tom Brady Clique' so he didn't get thrown to.
Hes been injured several times and cant stay on the field. When he was, he wasnt that impressive. Doubt he catches on anywhere unless its a #3-4 WR. Lots of recievers come out of college with high expectations and never produce, looks like CJ here will join the club.
LOVE seeing the Pats miss on a DP and now I hope he goes somewhere else and turns into a killer WR, that would just make my year.
From what I've seen and heard, Mayo has been doing just fine especially for a rookie. Merriweather has had a bit tougher go at it.
I think the guy will forever have the "potential" .. He's had his chances and injuries have slowed him down but for BB to give up on him in his 3rd year is pretty telling.
Could not agree more. I've seen this guy up close and personal since coming out of Florida, he flat out sucks. He's the prototypical workout warrior, who had no business being drafted that high. If he didn't thrive in New England, a stable environment to learn the ropes, he won't cut it here.
Surprised to see Jackson cut. He's coming off an ACL tear but was working with the first team unit this off-season. They were hoping to keep Welker in the slot because they feel he's best there and then Jackson on the outside. Mayo has been struggling picking up the playbook and has said that he feels "uncomfortable" in their defense. He played great in the first pre-season game but hasn't done anything since.
You're right AC. I went over to New England Patriots All-Time Draft Listing - Pro-Football-Reference.com and just glanced over their draft picks for the past several years. They're on the decline. If you look at their hits and misses, their hits haven't been what the media has touted them to be. For instance, they've drafted 4 TEs since 2000 yet still needed to bring a FA last year. Aside from Brady they've had most of their success drafting OL and DL. But they've missed on alot. Jackson is just one more of their misses. In fact, they're heading down the road that we've been on for so long.
http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80a1582c 30 second mark. He got stiff-armed into the ground by a 188 pound WR in the Buccaneers game and he's had difficulty shedding blockers and dealing with guards being able to release right on top of him?
That's nice. What does it prove except he got schooled on a play. THe guy isn't ALL-WORLD but he hasn't exactly struggled.
I would say that article isn't accurate. His tackle # for this preseason: - 3, 7, 7, 4. Jerod Mayo: Game Logs I can't say how much he has or hasn't struggled thus far, but I know that I'm not going to believe SIs take on the guy. Not with the way they've spun his performance to date.
If you go to that website that I linked to, you might be surprised as to how many times he's missed on draft day. Aside from Brady and their linemen, they've not had too much luck with the draft. I'm sorry its this site: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/draft/nwe.htm I had linked to this site in another post and I confused myself for a minute.
