I think the Heat are an excellent opportunity for him because what I’ve noticed they do with Justise, Josh, and Bam, is in SL they have these guys act as point guards and run the offense. The Heat have never been shy about that. I think that would be perfect for Brandon Clarke because what ultimately would not surprise me at all is if he comes full circle and becomes a point guard like he was back on the AAU circuit, when his coach said he was getting double-doubles with assists and blocks, which the coach has literally never seen before or since.

I thought Knicks fans lived for this. They are the masochists of the NBA. Have your hopes grow and grow way out of proportion to Knicks history only to have them get stomped into the ground in the most heartless way.
Basically this was the wish list heading into the offseason for Knicks fans after getting rid of Porzingis

Kevin Durant - injured achilles out for 2019/2020
Anthony Davis - traded to Lakers
Kyrie Irving - likely headed to Brooklyn
Zion Williamson - headed to the Big Easy

I thought Boik was joking earlier but maybe they do go get Chris Paul just to put the exclamation point on the suffering. Get ready for Season Tank 2.0

I personally have a theory that they weren’t planning on pursuing Kyrie initially. And. Now that he is a priority it is too late.

Kyrie is very talented, but his personality may turn off a Kevin Durant for example. Guess we will never friggin know.

If you guys can figure out how to trade up and get Ja Morant or Barrett, while having Zion in the bag, thats a rebuild like no other.

Its gonna flop like the superstar trade for Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. Quote me on that, they dont make the Finals next season.

    We got REVERSE PROTECTIONS.

The more I read about this trade the happier I am. Lebron is human and his body will fail him. And when it does, we get so many picks.

...plus AD still could leave Lakers after one year.

Generally yes but if the trade is consumated before the start of FA youve got approximately 23-25m in cap d3p3nding on whether davis waives his trade kicker and therefore short of a max cap slot thereby screwing yourselves out of a shot for a 3rd star and likely title contention.

Plus you gave up 2 potential all stars in Ball and Ingram and the 4th pick (even in a weak class) which, who knows, could be something.

After adding Ball they dont need Morant unless theyre going to flip Ball.

Knicks should give up their 2nd to ensure getting Barrett.

getting down to the nitty gritty now. I guess they are a package deal. It seems like Kyrie is definitely pushing for Brooklyn. Wonder if Durant is pushing for the Knicks. At the very least it looks great for NYC to be adding two great players. Durant should be awesome at the Rucker tournament every year

Looks like the Nets will be targeting F Darius Bazely, Bol Bol, Luka Samanic, Jontay Porter and Kevin Porter Jr. Even though they traded their 17th overall they still have the 27th and 31st. I think we'll get either Bazely or Samanic. Not sure who the Heat are targeting with their 2nd but if either of these guys is still available you guys should draft them

Lots of chatter about Pels trading #4 pick. News that the timing of AD trade makes it so Lakers can’t sign a max guy.

I’m beside myself. We have a President of Basketball Operations that knows what he’s doing!

Surprised the Lakers didn't wait until the 30th in which they could've signed that max guy. Pel's prolly didn't trust the Laker's brass and the complete dysfunction they can sometimes display so demanded it be done immediately.

I don't think he has the ball handling ability to be a PG. He can drive against bigs and slower players at the college level, but I don't think handling the ball is a strength of his. He's not going to be able to break anyone down off the dribble. With Bam, you saw them use him in that role in summer league, but it really hasn't translated in the NBA. He's done some nice things in the open court, but whenever he's taken the ball up in a half court set, he's given it up as soon as there's pressure (usually not to long after he crosses the timeline). JRich never really took to PG, either. Justise has a natural skill-set for it, IMO, and I think it's his best position. Offensively, I think Clarke is going to be a cutter, and lob guy, that hopefully can hit open shots in space, and scores a lot of his points off of rebounds. At 6'8", you have to be pretty good with the ball in your hands to be able to be a functional point guard.

What reason do you have to believe it will flop like that? Nash was past his prime, and Howard is a clown. AD is legitimately one of the best players in the league, is still young, and fits really well with LeBron. On top of that, they're probably going to fill the roster with good players, and potentially another max player like Kemba Walker.

It’s very possible Pelinka didn’t understand this distinction. It is in our best interests for Lakers to suck. Griffin probably knew Pelinka was oblivious and wasn’t bout to educate him!

Lakers are gonna be really good next year. Unless injuries. Which are very possible. I wouldn’t bet against a healthy Lebron/AD combo.

That's almost why if I were the Lakers, I might prefer Kemba to Kyrie. Kyrie is no doubt better, but his injury history is scary when your window is as small as it is.

Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for your NEW ORLEANS LAKERS!!!

just kidding bro, that 4th overall pick could be money. What’s the deal with the other 1sts? What years are they?

Lakers are going to be good. Can they fit another max in? Could you imagine if Kawhi went to the Lakers?

The deal with the picks is super complicated with REVERSE PROTECTIONS. I will explain it all when I’m not high. Griff basically bet on the Lakers sucking badly in 2 years.

Jonathan Givony just updated his ESPN+ mock draft.

He knows. When the NBA Green Room list comes out, you pay attention.

His Top 20 picks? Every single one of them is a Green Room invitation.

He has the Heat taking P.J. Washington at pick #13 with Brandon Clarke also on the board, but with Sekou Doumbouya, Nassir Little, and Rui Hachimura all off the board. He has Romeo Langford going at #15 to the Pistons. Keldon Johnson goes #18 to the Pacers. Goga Bitadze goes #19 to the Spurs. Luka Samanic goes Cavaliers at #26.

He has Kevin Porter falling all the way to pick #27 to the Nets.

Passing on Brandon Clarke for P.J. Washington would be passing on a chance at greatness in exchange for a safer, higher-floor/lower-ceiling guy. But with so many cap and contract issues, I could see the team feeling the need to go the safer route.

The Heat keep selling this draft and this pick like they're going to do something that they'll lead marketing campaigns with, so I think that's interesting.

Maybe there's truth to the rumor of them trying to move up and take Jarrett Culver.

He and Brandon Clarke are basically the same player.

Dylan Windler and Klay Thompson resemble one another a whole lot.

    You name it.

Their Combine Anthro numbers are alike. We're talking within half-inch height (6'7"), 9.25 to 9.5 inch hands, 8'3.5" to 8'4.5" standing reach, 6'9" to 6'10" wing span. Klay was a bit heavier (206 lbs to 196 lbs) but also a bit fatter (8.0% BF to 4.6% BF), so all Dylan would have to do is eat some cheeseburgers and he's there.

Their Agility and Speed were similar, talking 10.7 to 11.0 Lane, 3.24 to 3.30 Sprint. Really the biggest difference athletically was that Windler has a significantly better max vertical (37.5" to 31.5"), although it deserves pointing out their standing verticals are much closer (29" vs 26.5").

They played at similar basketball programs between Belmont and Washington State. Klay was a three year guy and Windler was a four year guy.

    They average similar stats on a per 36 minutes basis: 22 to 23 points, 3 to 4 assists, 1.5 to 1.7 steals, 0.6 to 1.0 blocks, 84 to 85% free throws, 40.0 to 42.9% three pointers, 94 to 95 D-Ratings.

The biggest differences there generally go in Windler's favor as he averaged 11.7 rebounds per 36 minutes versus Klay's 5.4 rebounds. This means that Windler had a higher PER (29 to 24), and a much higher Win Score (17.6 to 7.5), as well as a much better O-Rating (129 vs 110). It should be pointed out that Windler's eFG% and TS% (65% and 69%) were also a lot higher than Klay's (53% and 58%).

But mechanically their shot is structured similarly. They're both perfect. If anything, Windler's is a bit more compact and quicker because he doesn't wait until he get quite as vertical or late on the release as Klay.

They played a little bit different roles, with Klay handling the ball more in college. But a lot of what they did is pretty similar.

you mean when they traded for a washed up Steve Nash and signed Dwight Howard coming of back surgery ? this is a 26 year old player that hasn´t even entered his prime yet, i don´t know about the finals this year too, have to wait what will happen in the next 3 weeks, but the Lakers right now, are a better team already than last year

i dont know if it's hype or not but apparently Kawhi Leonard resigning with Toronto is really not a done deal. Apparently he's really going to consider other offers. According to Chris Carter of ESPN there are five teams that have a shot at him. Both LA teams and both New York teams as well as Toronto. Supposedly the Knicks are going all out to bring him in, though I gotta think all the teams will. If he signs with the Lakers that will be one hell of a sick, sick team. If he signs with the Clippers that will make the battle of Los Angeles ground zero for basketball. Hoping he comes to Brooklyn with Kyrie. Brooklyn vs LA would be like the Celtics vs the Lakers in the 80s. if its the Knicks I think he would finally break their curse and they would become a relevant team again

Out of all of the realistic suitors, the one I think that would be most fun is the one who have reportedly been his favorite for a while now, the Clippers. The Lakers would be too good with him, LeBron, and AD, and my Raptors hate would love to see him move on from there. Him going to the Knicks might be good for the NBA, but I can't ever root for anything good to happen to them no matter how much I like Boik.

I think Clippers is the likely landing spot now. I thought it was Toronto but apparently he really wants to play or live in L.A. and the Clippers have a nice team put together. I cant see him headed to the Lakers but the Vegas odds have dropped from 15 to 1 Lakers getting him to 6-1 which worries me. I dont see why he would want to play under Lebrons shadow

Unless they're dumping their bad contracts, and not much else of value, I'm not all that interested. That contract takes you to 2023. That being said, he's obviously talented, and the Heat have a track record of getting the most out of players with a fraction of his talent. If Miami is getting 11 back, and is only giving up, say, Whiteside, it's somewhat intriguing. Especially if you feel like you can move some other contracts. If it's JJ and Waiters, I start to get more interested.

Romeo Langford makes a lot of sense. We're talking about a guy who was a really highly regarded recruit, who has a lot of ability. If you feel he finds his shot, he becomes exactly what this organization needs. A guy that can create his own shot, and a potential all-star to build around. I honestly would probably take KPJ over him because I believe the upside his higher, but Langford might be the type of person you'd rather gamble on. He's exactly the high ceiling type I'm hoping they're going to go for.

I'm suggesting it would have to be something like that for me to be interested at all. On the surface that doesn't make sense for Minny, but Whiteside works well next to KAT, and more than that, it opens up a ton of cap space next offseason for them instead of being stuck with Wiggins's massive contract. Right now, Wiggins's value is probably a net negative with that contract. It's not all that different than what the Nets just did, trading two 1st round picks for cap space this summer. The difference is, this doesn't provide immediate space, but defers it a year. But they also get a guy who has been a good player at times during his career, and has rare traits.
