Does Bell have a no trade clause? If not, how long before Gase ships him out for a 4th?

Oh, and by the way, turns out he didn't want Bell. So there's that.

Gase is just filling in until a GM is hired....so it's not a permanent position. He's in a great spot though since he'll get to choose his replacement GM and essentially get to put his vision on the field. For better or worse, it's 100% his show now....

Yeah, sounds like the story is he didnt want Leveon Bell and that massive contract. Makes sense really since Gase doesn't value big personalities, or RB's in general it seems. I don't blame him on the personality issue, I wouldn't want selfish guys like that on my squad either.

Ultimately, I think we probably all kind of knew deep down inside that this was Gase was ultimately pushing for here, and wherever he was going to end up afterwards. I guess he's finally got that now.

The next 12-24 months are going to prove now whether this guy is worth the perceived value that NFL clubs seem to think he brings, or whether he's a complete fraud in over his head as many around here believe.

Bottom line here to me is... this is put up or shut up time for Gase. You wanted control, you've got it.

Personally, nothing against the guy but I hope he falls flat on his face and it sets the Jets back another 10 years.

I'd be surprised by that. I think he'll make the push to keep the GM authority. I think he's always wanted that personally. Even if they hire someone, it's just likely in title alone and to handle contract issues. I wouldnt be surprised that Gase keeps the final say on all those thigns.

    Ding ding ding!
Gase may relinquish the title, but 100% he will have final call on all personnel decisions going forward. I can't wait until he starts giving away their talent for pennies because he's a psycho who can't handle it. Good to know the Jests are still a smoldering tire fire.

All I can say is I hope Gase doesn't try and poach one of our talent evaluators. I like Grier, Allen, and McKenzie and want to see more of the plan they have for us in the future.

Gase can barely poach an egg. I'm not worried about him poaching anyone. If someone decided to join that **** show they don't deserve to be here.

So when does Gase start purging his personnel? Does he get rid of players because they look at him wrong, or just doesn't like their looks or what?

Now that he's the GM he can look for the next head coach when he fires himself.

So tone deaf to actually trade someone less than 24 hours after being appointed interim GM. Nothing new with that gas bag though.

Meant to reply to this yesterday. You’re absolutely right Key, it’s definitely Gase’s show now. The Jets have gone all in on him which truly puzzles me. Statistically, Gase was just an average head coach his first go around in Miami. His first year he shined but there after, lackluster at best. With that record, I just find it truly amazing the Jets turned it all over to him.

But then again, we are talking about the Jets, the most dysfunctional team in the league.

Reports were that he was out the door for awhile now. This makes you wonder if Gase was the one pushing that campaign while Maccagnon was lukewarm - or more likely, trying to finagle a better deal than a 6th for a former first round pick with crazy athleticism that was playing in a defense that didn't suit him.

But yeah, not a great look, but he never cared what anyone else thought so big surprise.

From what I understand, Gase wanted out of Miami because the front office was so dysfunctional. There were coaches and decision makers that weren't doing things in the best interest of the team (in Gase's opinion) and he was tired of petitioning the village idiot on how to run a successful franchise. For instance, I heard an interview today that some practices last year were complete chaos...some days players spent more time standing around than actually practicing because the coaches weren't prepared. Gase fought to get several folks out the door and when they didn't leave, he decided he was leaving himself.

That's apparently why Ross never used the words "fired" or "let go". If that crap started, then all the dysfunction would have come out and they couldn't afford that. I mean, are people so dumb that they think a "bad coach" gets multiple interviews the day he walks and then gets rapidly promoted in a much larger football city? The Miami narrative is clearly bull****.

I still think Gase is a bright mind that can be successful- but who knows how much of that dysfunction was due to his leadership skills. People want to trash anyone who's not in Miami anymore and I get that, but to me this is not a discussion for today. We will clearly see how good or bad Gase is over the next few seasons now that he actually has control over a football team.

I strongly suggest you start rooting for the Jets.

Like Gase, you refuse to hold him accountable for his failures, his poor roster decisions, his poor use of his best players and the lack of respect for him within the organization. Additionally, as the head coach it was HIS SOLE responsibility to organize practices while coaching and mentoring his assistants so they could execute on his behalf. Since Gase was a glorified QB coach he had no ability to lead both the coaching staff and the men on the field.

Gase will fail in NY even with a roster considerably more talented than ours. What will your excuse be when that happens?

I will gladly wager that NY wins more games than Miami next season....or just heads up when we play them twice a year. Once again, your opinions are based on....what....Ross's infinite wisdom? His promise that he got the best GM in the league....that just happened to be inside the building all along? Surely nobody is that stupid...

I think you're over estimating the importance of one person (GM) and underestimating the importance of a FO being a cohesive unit with the staff, especially the HC.

Honestly I dont mind the drafts Grier has come up with for the most part or some of these moves.

I'm not praising him too much but Ill certainly give him time.

Gase on the other hand needs to shoulder his responsibility. If he cant get his staff to listen, he isnt a man to begin with and should wear panties to the field.

I like what we're doing in Miami far more than the Jets at the moment. Gase is fools gold. If he is acting as GM the Jets are in serious trouble. Beyond his 1st year what did he accomplish in Miami, aside from shipping guys out?
