You have to jump through hoops and create your own narrative to have it make sense

Thing is, it's been clear from the start that fans don't get what they crave in GoT. George RR Martin has said that it's going to be a bittersweet ending for most, so I don't think anyone is going to get what they "want" to see happen.

I've been telling my friends all season that I predict Jaime would kill Cersei. I will spin it that since Jaime is taller, the ceiling crushed him and he therefore crushed Cersei.
I did love the visuals in this episode, thought they were well done. loved the battle between hound and mountain

This show is great specifically BECAUSE it doesn't give us exactly what we want.

"Well done Dani, fair play, I reckon you'll get some new instagram followers and friends, not too many civilian casualties, from what i saw... Where is she going? Just park the dragon, park it, no one wants to play anymore, it's like a game of monopoly, you've dominated to the point it's no longer fun, so just park the dragon, those guys surrendered! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? These are civilians! That building doesn't need to be demolished, TURN THE BBQ OFF!!"

Something he mentioned in his review that I didn't even realize was Varys talking to his spy in the kitchen and that he had planned to poison Dani... we'll try again at supper... wow...

****en a... this youtuber has over 3m subscribers... how much money do you make with that?

I mean, the biggest thing fans want is closure...that's all we can hope for.

For instance, Brianne has been awesome for 8 seasons and ALMOST got the fairy tale ending with Jamie. We knew it wasn't destined to work out but that still sucked nonetheless...did they have to break her heart and leave us with that fading memory?

Arya has been thru hell just trying to survive, becomes the ultimate ninja warrior and travels the whole world to get back home for the final fight. Then she wipes out the entire undead army, her character arc goes through the roof....yet we spend 40 minutes watching her just try to survive all over again AFTER she gives up on revenging her father. It ends with the pale horse, signaling that she's death incarnate, and she has a green eyed prophecy to fill. EVERYBODY is team Arya right now, yet somehow we know in the pit of our stomachs that she won't make it to the end of next week's episode.

Jon- he's been the main force for 8 seasons....and now he's just someone's puppet. Bran? Dani? Take your pick...they've both been using and manipulating him this entire time. Dani was personally my favorite character (the early nudity scenes certainly helped) and just like that, we all want her beheaded. Tyrion, the lowest of the low (no pun intended) actually turned out to be a good man with everyone's best interests...and he just got his oldest friend slaughtered for nothing. Now hes destined to die for trying to save his home.

I could go on and on....it's all heartbreak and sorrow. And truthfully, there's nobody left to root for in my book. Sansa is a privileged brat. Bran is playing his own game. Jon is a fool in love with his aunt, yet doesn't want want to be with her because it's icky. So he's willing to toss aside the needs of everyone and that's just not who he is. Even Grey Worm had his heart broken....and he was a total jerk to begin with. Far too many great characters have died saving Dani, only to have her go full Hulk on Kings Landing.

There's just not a single person who has a triumph story at this point....maybe Sam still has a shot at happiness? That tells me Gilly is about to die as well then.

Here's what I need to happen to be okay with the ending. Arya needs to kill whoever's left on her list and then lay down the sword, get married and have a long, happy life. Jon just needs to get laid so he can think clearly and stand up to Dani (and kill the worm in the process). Sansa needs to marry Tyrion, even though they're both probably about to die. Somebody needs to have a happy ending....anyone really....and I'll be okay with things. Somehow I just don't think I'll get that though.

Definitely not. And her plot armor is so thick at this point, that there's no pit in my stomach at all, and couldn't care much less about what happens any more with her.

    I obviously disagree.

D&D are guilty of not being as good as writers as GRRM....tha's a crime virtually everyone is guilty of. They are doing their best. Rian Johnson was openly hostile to the story he was charged with progressing.

Johnson admitted he didn't like where the story was going and didn't want this to be about the same families. He was tired of Skywalkers. It was the reason behind every decision he made from chucking the lightsaber, killing off luke like he did, to making Rey's parentage be a dead end to destroying all the Jedi text/history/teachings/knowledge to making some random kid have force powers in the end.

D&D, OTOH, loved the story and were told how the story would end. They had to figure out how to get there, with limited seasons left and without the actual author filling in the details. Did they hit it out of the park? Nope. But it is significantly better than TLJ, because at least the heart was in the right place with S7&8.

At least it was interesting and a good story.

I would take hatred over the bull **** that d&d have done
Murdering characters with love is still murder.

And the only reason why it is limited is because they choose it to be limited. D&D could have had more time or given up control over to someone else but they refused. Now it looks like they hurried this season so they can now X-Men Wolverine Origins The Old Republic.

If we’re using the “apple doesn’t fall far” approach, then Jamie foreshadows Dany’s incineration of the capital in S3E5 when telling about the Mad Kimg [clip below].

I mean, why should Dany be any different than anyone else? Most everyone is who they are on this show. The Starks are all Starks; they’re all basically like Ned. The Lannisters are all Lannisters, except for the outcast dwarf. The Iron Borne all pay the iron price. Etc. Why should Dany be any different than her once good dad turned mad?

That's the problem. She's survived way more than someone who hasn't been raised from the dead should. Countless zombies (with no weapon and what should be a concussion, for much of the time I might add), no problem. Getting trampled by crowds, no problem. Dragonfire, no problem. Falling buildings, no problem. Oh, there's a horse conveniently around when literally everyone/thing else nearby appears to be dead. Surely animals don't have a sense of danger or anything.

It's fine that her journey has been one of the most important plotlines, but even as unbelievable as it had been to the start of this season, they've ratcheted it up to 11. May as well paint an S on her chest IMO.

Thats not a problem. Shes been trained to survive by her journey. She hit a wall fairly hard while being pursued by the dead but that doesnt equate to concussion. You could see her planning her escape from falling buildings by understanding the patterns Dany was flying in and predicting the directions those buildings would fall in. It wasnt til she tried to save those 2 boys she nearly gets killed. The only beef i can lend much creedence to is the horse just standing there.

I've never liked Sansa...she's just too stuck up and proper for me. I know she's been thru the ringers but she sort of put herself in each of those positions in the first place- each step was her choice trying to gain power. I just don't like her and she's been trying to manipulate Jon from the moment they reunited...which I halfway understand. But there was no path to the throne without Dani since they didn't have the numbers.

Yeah, the horse scene was strange...it didn't belong there at all. But I think it's a Biblical reference that she's become the Pale Rider, Death Incarnate or whatever you want to call it. It was a prophecy in itself saying she's about to ^$@$ stuff up big time in the finale.

I agree with you though- she's had the hardest journey of any character and rose to the occasion time and time again. She's literally been alone for 8 seasons and managed to survive off of sheer willpower. Arya is BY FAR my favorite character. I don't think she'd make a good ruler though because she suffers no fools.....but I can see it if she marries Gendry and he gets the throne.

What the heck are we going to talk about after Sunday? LOL, Miami football?!? This stinks...I don't want GoT to end!

How ‘bout in S3E5 when Gendry informs Arya that he’s joining The Brotherhood, offering up the reason, “I’ve never had a family.” Emotionally upset by this, Arya responds, “I can be your family”. Foreshadowing?

For everyone talking about Bran being a good fit as King bc he’s incorruptible, Gendry joined The Brotherhood, a group whose sole purpose is to fight anyone who threatens the livelihood of the smallfolk.

“That's what we are: ghosts. Waiting for you in the dark. You can't see us, but we see you. No matter whose cloak you wear: Lannister, Stark, Baratheon, if you prey on the weak, the Brotherhood Without Banners will hunt you down.”
Incidentally, The Brotherhood has ties to Arya’s family. The group was indirectly created by Ned Stark when he sent out a force of knights and soldiers led by Beric Dondarrion to restore peace & justice in the Riverlands at the onset of the War of the Five Kings, bolstered by several of his own household guards from House Stark. Trapped behind enemy lines after the Battle at Mummer's Ford, they became a guerrilla group and were joined by deserters from different armies as well as commoners trying to defend their homes. The Brotherhood continues to fight to protect the commoners of the Riverlands and dispense justice on any who preys on the commonfolk.

That’s why the Lannisters were obsessed with hunting them down and slaughtered hundreds of innocents during interrogations in their pursuit of uncovering their location.

Baratheon heir to the throne, one time common folk, once enslaved, member of the Brotherhood, acknowledged by Dany, lover & dear friend of Arya? Gendry’s perfect to be king.

Either your head is filled with way too much info on this show from watching it repeatedly, you have incredible retention, or you read that somewhere. To remember a quote from season 3 that seemed so inconsequential at the time is impressive

Arya is definitely killing someone big next episode. Jon Snow is a Stark man and they are all stupid, he will get killed doing something dumb like trying to stop Arya. Arya kills Dany, and fans complain about the last episode forever. The End.
I like the season by the way, I may be alone in this but I do. Honestly, people don't get that the show has gone on for so long and there are so many plot points that there was no way to just tidy it up in a season, especially a shortened season. Many of the actors/writers/showrunners are probably moving onto other things, the writers hands were tied. People may not like that but its a reality.

 After binging seasons 6 & 7 early last week, I decided to bury myself in Season 1+ over the weekend and have been paying special attention to any instances of potential foreshadowing, which there seems to be a s***load of. Totally worth rewatching the series. Missed so much and forgot so much. Hints galore it seems. Probably more fun watching it a second time since I’ve forgotton so much AND get to witness all the foreshadowing.

Good point about the last 2 paragraphs.

I don’t think Arya kills Dany. She had her big kill- the Night King. Only faces she could use to get close to Dany are Jon’s and Grey Worm’s, and I’m not sure I see that happening.

Bran will warg to take care of Drogon. “You will never walk, but you will fly”.
Then Jon slays Dany and hands the throne over to Gendry & Arya.

Jon was brought back by the Lord of Light, and don’t those who are brought back usually die when their purpose is finished? If so, wouldn’t that mean that Jon:
    A) still has 1 last major role to play?
    B) might die after executing that role?

Good read on Forbes about the Gods.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...s-the-hidden-agenda-of-the-lord-of-light/amp/

Makes sense. Gets into the cycle of life & death and how the Many Faced God [through Arya] & the God of Light worked to stop the Night King who was robbing the God of Death of souls and was essentially disrupting the balance of nature and screwing w/ the cycle of life & death.

Now, if this all is true, and the Gods are working through individuals to preserve the balance of nature, then was Jon resurrected by the Lord of Light to slay Dany who was suddenly disrupting that balance by sending too many souls to the God of Death?.... and is the 3ER a creation of the Gods to assist in maintaining that balance?... which begets the question of: was Bran chosen as the 3ER to warg and eliminate the 2nd half of Dany’s imbalance equation, Drogon?
