Great thread, Galant...I can't really play the guitar, but I love listening to someone play who is good. Roy Clark was one of the most underrated guitar players, IMO. He could play anything with strings and play it like a pro.

Highly impressive, and really well thought out! Thank you for sharing that, Galant.

I was surprised at the few selections from GNR and Van Halen, and nothing at all from Boston or The Eagles. He/they are obviously much higher on the late 80s heavy stuff from Iron Maiden, Megadeath, ect than I am. I wasn't familar with some of those. But overall, very cool.

I remember the first time that I watched that. It was 1995 or 96 and I was in college, and I and a group of my friends just stopped and stared and watched the TV in silence until it was over. Such an impressive talent.

He was just as good on the violin (or fiddle..lol), banjo, drums, and about 10 other instruments. I think he was known better by most people for his comedy acts, but his musical skills were some of the best. He was definitely a musical genius. And I'm not really a country music fan, but you have to respect his talent.

Yeah, as a kid I just knew him as the guy from Hee Haw. It was later I saw more of him with the guitar on other shows.

Reverb has a ton of these types of videos. I'll just post 3. Not a huge fan of Joe, but huge fan of Andy.

I could literally hijack this whole thread. One of my favorites is Rory Gallagher's solo in this version of Shinkicker. He mixes majors, natural minors, traditional blues-rock licks, pinch harmonics, all the goods. He should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, but I'm cool with it, because that's mostly a joke anyways. Solo starts around 1:06.

For my money, the best guitarist ever. And no conversation is complete without Red House. He just kills it from the 5 minute mark on....just sucks that the production quality was so crappy

Also, love that Crazy Train got such a high rating. War Pigs and Ironman are typically the ones people associate with Ozzy but War Pigs is amazing for its drumming.

It's a little heavier, but if you like Jimi, you should like this performance.
