Exactly. I'd also add, it doesn't make sense to swap your Alex Smith for another team's Alex Smith.

I'm sure Tannehill would be devastated to hear this news.

The open Tannehill hate from former player's is really annoying me. That's not what teammates do and they are all pricks imo.

By the way, Travis just posted an article in Club regarding 17 that is worth the $20 some dollars in itself. Check it out.

Good luck finding a poster here who hasn't been wrong multiple times about this team and it's players. We shouldn't fault him for having a bigger platform and not afraid to be passionate about his stance.

And let me add it takes a better man to admit he missed something in his evaluations than the folks (especially in the media) just brush it off and go on to the next.

What is most unhealthy in regards to this delusion is the raw arrogance in the way it is conceived and disseminated to others. It's not about being truthful in relation to the team, it is in writing something, anything, to get clicks or likes. Who cares if you end up with egg on your face ,you just eat the egg.

You mean like the 90% of the posters here who said there's no chance RT is in Miami in 2019...and then talked trash for a few of us even suggesting it? Nothing's in stone yet, but be sure to start a thread so all of them can apologize to us if it happens.

LOL, I'll be holding my breath and waiting with great anticipation for that day! =)

I knew it was going to be Tannehill all along. Just ask my dog. ;-) I told her many times. She's a scholar and very trustworthy.
    IMG_0174 (1).JPG
You see? This is her graduating from puppy training. She's not too happy about the hat, LOL!

Seriously, I think as you pointed out a good while ago, Tannehill might end up being our best option. His salary won't screw up any comp picks, and he's as good a stop gap as any out there. It will also give us some time until we can get our guy, and then when we do Tannehill can pull a Matt Moore and enjoy life in Miami as the backup. He doesn't have to move and he can keep that nice house he has on the canal. As for apologizing, I think I was respectful, even though I wanted an upgrade and was somewhat vocal about it. My approach has always been to agree to disagree, but if I crossed the line, my apologies to you and any others I may have offended.

It's not unreasonable to even STILL believe he won't be in Miami in 2019. But if so, some folks can claim internet message board glory for a few day's, only to watch another mediocre season which frankly is going to happen regardless of our QB.

Not fun times to be a Dolphin's fan.

I agree- I don't see us winning more than 5 or 6 games no matter what happens. I do think our next starter is on our roster though because there's really nobody left worth looking at EXCEPT Kaepernick or someone's backup already under contract. And anybody going that route is going to cost us more money plus a potential 3rd round comp pick.

I mean, are you really going to pay $15M and a 3rd for Blake Bortles for one season? If we didn't do it for Bridgewater, we're not doing it for someone with even less potential. So either Tannehill starts, or we cut him and start Falk. Heck, Osweiler is "good enough" based on our goals for 2019....any of the three can get us 4 wins just fine.

One other thing you need to keep in mind is that any QB with a say in this is not going to come to Miami for a losing season and then be benched/traded a year later. That's ultimately what cost us Bridgewater, a Miami native that wanted to play for us a year ago. So to me, it really comes down to Kaepernick or nobody....and he might even turn us down.

Falk was Gase's #1 QB pick in last year's draft, although Grier and Tannenbaum felt differently. From what I read, Gase fought for him and lost...only to completely luck out and get his QB anyway. To me, that's almost like a fate kind of thing...I'd love to see the kid light it up!

He had great college tape but so does every QB drafted...who knows if it translates? I'm rooting for him though and he'd be my #1 choice to start next year (if the talent is there, of course).

Probably the best spot for him - he has a good chance to start for them, whether via camp battle or the likely event of Mariotta getting injured.

They actually got a 4th rounder in 2020. Never would have thought they would get anything higher than a 5.

    Good job.

I wish Tannehill the best and still believe he'll make something out of himself as a starting QB in this league.

With that said, I seriously hope the FO has a plan for a QB.

It's actually the best spot for him given that Mariota has been the pillar of underachievement. So looks like it worked out for both parties.

Here's an update, from Travis, on the picks we will have in 2020...

We basically had to beg them to take him.

    RT and a 19 6th.

    For a 20 4th and 19 7th.

What a joke. Better than cutting him I guess. But still..

Clearly, we agreed not to resign Wake in exchange for the Titans to get him and trade for Tanny.

I wanted a third rounder if it was a 2020 pick, but a fourth is okay. Extra ammo if Miami needs to trade up. Also, with the way Marcus gets hurt, Tanny will be a very solid #2 QB for them and he'll play 4-8 games in 2019.

No one was trading for him with that contract.

We had to pay five million dollars for that 4 th round pick, we also gave up a 6th..

Bottom line, those folks were right, he was done here, the new coaches had the best viewpoint to confirm that, and now he’s right where he should be, a good nfl backup.

The last time that we had more than 9 picks in a single draft was 2007, when we had 10. Sadly, even with all of those picks, it was almost a complete wash except for Paul Soliai at pick #108.

The last time that we had more than ten picks was 1997, when we had 14. And that one worked out. Despite getting nothing from Yatil Green in the first round, we took Sam Madison in the second, and then Jason Taylor, Derrick Rodgers, and Brent Smith in the third. Not bad to get a HOFer, a guy who should be in the Ring of Honor, and two other solid starters before the fourth round!

We actually totaled 26 picks in Jimmy's first two drafts, after a bunch of trades. I'd love to get back to those days. We drafted nine guys who played more than 100 games in the NFL in those two.

That $5 million is less than if we just cut him

I think what happened not sure here, someone said this earlier, but the contract was voided, we resigned him, we paid him 5 million and then found the trade..

So basically we bought a 4th round pick.
