This is what I expect the rest of free agency to be. Sign guys that can play on a football field but not win games.
The constant NE connection worries me. I know it’s early but it seems they are constantly poaching NE Players. Hope we can scout proper lol
Having guys that are familiar with complete system overhauls are important. Former 2nd round pick, still just 26, brought into compete, nothing more. This isnt us going out and signing high priced free agents from NE. Remember who the GM is...its not Flores. Grier seems to be giving Flores some familiarity there, but the whole 'we better be able to scout' thing is off base, because the scouting department was around Rowe and Allen last year.
High risk but high upside guys. That's quite Patriotish tbh, and one of the things that's replicable. I like this one and the Parker signing.
Honestly I dont think there is any risk at all. These guys wont be impacting our ability to sign anyone next year, so aside from the owner having to pay money I'm not sure there is risk at all in a rebuild year.
Just the risk that he might be a total dud. Right now, that's an acceptable risk for the reasons you note.
Well I dont think they are assuming that. I think it's more of a trial run. We already have a pretty decent secondary with just Howard and Fitz so I dont expect them to pour big resources into corner regardless. Most likely he will either play well and win a job or be demoted/cut next year.
It's a 1-year deal. We don't have anything proven beyond Fitz and Howard, though I do have high hopes for the group under Boyer. We are going to see a lot more dime packages this year, which elevates DB needs and performance.
I’m not knocking the signing it’s a low risk high reward pick. Just everything we have done was NE centric
Oops. Thought it was a two year, but still if he plays well he will most likely be resigned. Unless he plays so damn well he gets a massive contract but that seems unlikely. So either way not hurting us.
We definitely want the latter but he may not be resigning with us the way things have been shaking out this offseason!
