Just say no to Rosen. Both he and Darnold were annointed false gods of the Pac-12, but each never lived up to the hype. Both are turnover prone, even behind quality O-lines. Rosen is the one with the biggest ego and I'm not talking about the kind champions are made of. He rubs a lot of people the wrong way and that's not someone I want leading the team out there.
Were you a Tannehill guy? Because he's a dull robot according to everyone here and people hated that. Rosen is the extreme opposite and what people have begged for in Miami in a QB since Marino.
Why on earth would they pay to have Tryhard Taylor to come here and suck? Cant we suck just as bad with whoever he have as a backup now?
dolphins offered him more money, he instead opted to stay with the saints for less and stay as Brees backup.
Not a fan of Taylor he’s not that good basically tannehill 2.0 but a little more cautious with the ball which leads to sacks a lot of times. If the object is to save money and look towards 2020 draft cut Ryan now and let our two young qb’s play and compete. Maybe one of them becomes something who knows? I don’t believe this team is going for a complete rebuild honestly but time will tell.
I am in no way, shape or form on board with Taylor. If Tannehill is gone, either move up for your guy in the first and roll with him, or try to find a guy in the lower rounds to roll with next season.
Agreed, Taylor is good enough to get you 6-7 wins, maybe 9 wins with a solid team around him then a quick playoff exit. Why would we want that? Try to find a hidden gem with a young QB or just deal with a 2-3 wins season and get a QB in 2020.
I mean, I'd rather see Bortles than Bridgewater or Taylor...those two do nothing to better the team. Bortles doesn't either, but I can't imagine anyone in the organization is looking at Bortles as a long term solution. I don't want to tank, but putting together a team takes time, and I think rolling with a rookie or a stop gap vet like Bortles makes sense...as long as they aren't paying him close to Tannehill money.
You have to get a veteran in here no matter what, I don't care who it is. You start him. They go 1-3, then you throw in a rookie. Seems to be the blueprint going around.
Normally I agree with you on most of your takes....They are sound, well thought out, and rather logical. You even have a cool name....I'm a Nine Inch Nails fan.....But Blake Bortles in Miami in any type of capacity should not even be a thought. I will explode with anger if we end up signing him. That may be what causes me to finally jump ship to Philadelphia. I really don't want that to happen. Before last season I said that Brock Osweiler would be a nightmare come true if we ever were to sign him and yet...We did the impossible and signed him. Please for the love of Christ! I hope Blake Bortles never becomes a Miami Dolphin. I'll tank! I'll embrace the tank! I'll drive the tank! Let Jake Ruddock start! Let him be the tank commander. Just not Blake Bortles. You have no idea how much crap i'm going to get from real life buddies of mine if this happens. I've already taken a ton because of Tannehill, I got literally laughed at and trolled to death over Osweiler. Ugh...No...Horrific idea!
Wait til the 2020 Draft to draft a QB. Spend 2019 shoring up the Lines on both sides, and cut Tannehill.
Well, one thing about Tyrod is whenever he played against us, we made him look like Aaron Freaking Rodgers.
I wouldn’t want Bortles with the fins, even if they mulched him and used him as fertilizer on the grass.
Since the team is back on the Blueprint, Bill and Bill's QB history might provide better clues. Only drafted 1 QB to coach in the 1st round Won big games, including the biggest with back-up QB. Unheralded QBs have become all-pro. The biggest difference with the Bill's approach is they foster competition with their QBs, which seems to have paid off with the success their back-ups have had. With many high 1st round picks between them, only one was used for a QB while coaching --Drew Bledsoe, who helped Parcells reach the Super Bowl. Interestingly, Belichick left the Jets and their QB uncertainty for a team with an established QB; a move that another defensive-oriented coach later made with Peyton Manning (Tony Dungy). Their time with the Jets is fascinating. They had the #1 pick overall with Peyton Manning expected to declare after his junior year. Instead, they wound up with Vinny Testaverde-- an rejuvenated former #1 overall pick. Vinny had the Jets leading at half during the 1998 AFC Conference Finals and the Bills' thought they had a Super Bowl team for 1999 until Vinny ruptured his Achilles. With the injured old QB, the Bills' divorce and Parcells starts a rebuild as the GM with 4 1st round picks. The Jets take a QB with their 3rd pick in the 1st round, while the Patriots pick the 7th QB drafted in 1999. The rookie QBs were in the background until early in the 2nd season when the 'heart and soul' of the Jets defense, Mo Lewis, wrecked football for the next 20 years. If the Dolphins apply the Bill's history to the QB search, we likely see a churn at QB until they find the right guy. Some long term plans may never happen (Manning & Beldsoe), while some great play from unexpected sources (Testaverde & Brady) may. The churn may be lengthy as Dallas evolved from Quincy Carter and former baseball players into Tony Romo or inherited beaten-down players, Phil Simms, may find their place after 7 years. Steps for the next QB to succeed may be developing. The WR corp has been keep together, which may produce similar results as the Redskin WRs provided RG3 during his rookie season. A commitment to run ground with backs with inside breakaway speed could complement short outside passes to Wilson and Grant. And the TE committee may help mask the play-calling and vary the game plan for key divisional foes. The only thing for certain is that Blueprint builds a team and it's never about one guy.
Going to preface this by saying I dont believe BUT What if the team is intentionally waiting on a QB so they can make a losing season seem more natural by "not being able to find a QB this year".
I'm still the only one in the poll that thinks THill starts this season. I believe it even more now. People squeel about his salary. Not going to get any other veteran to play for us for less. If he can't be traded before the draft and we cut him we get nothing back. If he sucks so bad, and we are supposedly "tanking" this year... There is nothing at all to gain by cutting him before season is underway. Let him play it out, nothing to lose. Wait til somebody goes down and a team needs a starter and then trade him. Or let him play and see what happens.
it’s very interesting and really football depressing how The flawed player fooled the so called professionals for all these years..coach after coach, GM after GM....some fans still believe....quite the story.
120m in cap space would look really nice coupled with a bunch of draft picks. Lets trade down in the first and go to town next year.
. That’s what I like about these moves. Let’s lock in our young talent. While we will struggle for a season or two, it’s not like the cupboards are bare. We’ve got some building blocks and now we can draft and spend wisely while allowing Flores to build a culture and develop talent.
I hope we don’t get stuck with haskins. Giants are saying they don’t want him. Denver wants lock. Kyler is long gone already. I thought he looked terrible at the combine. Can’t believe scouts (which are the ones that generally know the talent better than anyone else) as it’s their job. They are in poker mode. They don’t want others knowing what they are thinking or doing. I’d rather have jones. Feels like a young big ben. Big ben was really good before his motorcycle wreck. Maybe trade back and get jones? Or a real good edge rusher in the first and jones with the second?
I compared Tannehill to Rube Baker in "Major League 2". Rosen is the quintessential over-opinionated gas bag.
Rosen is just not very good. I couldn't care less about his political views etc. Sure, if the Dolphins can pick him up with a 3rd or 4th I probably wouldn't complain too much, but I just don't think he's anything more than a back-up. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I just don't see him playing much better than he did last year. And he was historically bad last season.
Hard to really judge a rookie on such a bad team? I agree i would give up to a third for him. I feel you can’t fairly judge a lot of rookie qbs. Its a lot for them to learn.
