Celtics think rich Paul planted the story that Kyrie is leaving to scare the pelicans into rushing a trade with LA. They’re making it very easy to hate Lebron and co.
Well when you cant recruit em at the olympics have your agent who was your boy growing up do your dirty work. And people wonder why i cant stand LeFail. Smh...
Westbrook with 11 straight triple doubles (nba record). The next 4 opponents hes got at least 5 against each team over his career, decent chance he gets to 15. Pretty damn impressive. Not Larry Bird doing it vs Portland playing lefty impressive....he was a righty for those that dont know...but pretty damn impressive). Gotta have an encore act Russ. Quietly an MVP level season.
Anyone else Orlando Magic fans? I have to say, I love our team right now. We don’t have a super star, but we are playing well together and are a lot of fun to watch.
Jonathan Issac is good. The Nets played them quite a bit the last month or two and even though I kept hoping we would have an easy go, Orlando gave us all we could handle. Think they have a good chance at the 8th seed
The celebrity all star is really embarrassing..why they continue to do it and televise it is amazing to me, the place is literally half empty..
At the very least there is a good amount of charity dollars being donated to good causes. Sure it's not good basketball, but that's not the point. Also, no Kevin Hart is a huge plus.
The Knicks will be the first of my fav sports teams (Phins/M's/Knicks) to win a title in many moon's. Heard it here first.
So I see one of the big sports topics on ESPN and others today was referee Scott Foster screwing the Rockets out of a win last night, lol. I didn't even watch it, but what else is new. They said Harden and Paul both fouled out, lol. Im not shocked. Rockets are 0-7 vs Scott Foster this year and were 0-3 in home playoff games last year vs Scott Foster...including the 20 points worth of blown calls in Game 7 at home. I saved the tape. You hear Reggie Miller and Chris Webber calling out the b.s. Rockets were 7-0 at home vs any other ref in the playoffs last year.
There were a couple of bad calls against Harden mainly the push off at half court which was his 3rd foul in the 1st quarter. 2 were legit charges, one against Lebron and one on Kuzma. I wish Harden boomed on him like Cousins did. Chris Paul fouled out on an intentional foul to stop the clock.
I hope my Islanders can do it this year but the Knicks could be next if things fall right for us this offseason.
Kenneth Faried has been a monster this game. He does the little things that should make GSW fear a healthy Rocket team.
I have to give a major shoutout to the Nets for buying Faried out. He has been a godsend for the Rockets. He's been averaging pretty much a double-double since landing on the Rockets. This was his first game starting at power forward next to Capela at center. Faried was dominating Golden State at power forward tonight. Pretty shocking to see us beat GSW without Harden.
Hi fellas. I was at the game where the Pelicans, without AD and two main rotation guys, beat LeBron and the Lakers. We booed LeBron loudly every time he touched the ball. ESPN won’t show you how he had TWO air balls and also missed both free throws. Not saying our boos affected the game. I was just fun to boo LeBron and celebrate airballs in front of thousands of bandwagon Lakers fans. I had two separate Lakers fans tell me that they hate LeBron and how they been Lakers fans since Kobe (as though it’s some badge of honor). As a South Florida guy, I love what he did with the Heat. But the way he’s playing with AD is annoying as hell.
I think hes a good coach, kyrie as great as he is when healthy, is easily the biggest diva... always has negative views and opinions, gives bad vibes....
Zion is just incredible. I think his floor is a 2018 Giannis, please jesus let the Knicks win this lottery.
No idea what the long term plan is but I'll consider it a little win if Wade makes a last playoff appearance while Lebron is at home.
Popovich the GOAT HC? He's in his 23rd season coaching and San Antonio's win over the Warriors yesterday guaranteed their NBA record 22nd straight playoff appearance. He's coached only one team during his whole career, and a small market team at that. Here's how he currently stacks up in the big coaching stat categories: Championships Won: 3rd (5 rings) - 1st is P Jackson All Time Regular Season Wins - 4th (1214 and counting) - he's 8 wins away from 3rd, and 122 from 1st place. So if he coaches two more seasons he could earn the top spot, almost guaranteed with 3 more. 1st is Don Nelson (All Time wins Reg. and Post - 3rd with only 32 wins to the top spot.) Regular Season Win % - 3rd - 1st is P Jackson Post-Season Wins: 3rd - 1st is Phil Jackson Post-season Win %: 8th - 1st is Phil Jackson The obvious challenger for GOAT HC is Phil Jackson - most rings, top spot in most categories. However, the argument against Phil will be that he got those wins on big market franchises with Michael Jordan, Kobe Byrant and Shaq. That's the general consensus GOAT player, his clone, and the man generally considered the most dominant player/centre of all time. Popovich, however, had Robinson, and then Duncan as his two greats, followed by Parker and Ginobili, and a few season of Kawhi. Duncan is generally considered the GOAT PF. In short, how much of Jackson's success comes down to all time elite talent vs. coaching? In Pop's favour, since Duncan's and co's departure, San Antonio have some how managed to perform. This year, without their young starting PG, and other injuries, they've fielded a starting five of Aldridge, DeRozan, Gay/Poetl, Mills, Forbes/White. They've struggled away but been dominant at home and made their way to the playoffs again. Not sure if anyone would go to the Spurs' roster to poach much talent. That might even stand true for the big three era. Parker and Ginobili were consistently lower in ranking than other talent available. So it would seem a strong case for Popovich's coaching talent and ability to adapt, adjust, and re-adjust to whatever is needed from season to season and roster to roster. So, what are you thoughts? Are either one of these the GOAT HC? Should Riley be in here? Someone else?
Definitely think you guys have a shot. Brooklyn hasn't been the same since they got Lavert and Dinwiddie back. It's like we lost our chemistry and are back in preseason form trying to figure out how to play again. On top of that eight of our last ten games are against teams currently in the playoffs. Overall still a successful year if we don't make the playoffs but it would be nice to get some playoff experience before next year when expectations will be sky high
I realize that sports didn't exist prior to 1980 amongst most fans but Red Auerbach and John Kundla are two old timers that need to be considered. I think Pops is the best of this generation but if you look at history I would go with Auerbach Edit...sorry, meant to quote Galant
8 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW, 9 OUT OF 10. Has anyone matched that in any sport? That's up there with the Perfect Season.
I can't claim any great knowledge of the coaches from those older generations. However, if there's a knock against them it's that their era was a very different time. Basketball had developed less, obviously, the teams in the league were fewer in number, and it was the age of some of the most lopsided records in history. The talent difference was greater then, top to bottom, than now. Of course, that's nor their fault, and it is impossible to predict how they would perform in today's circumstances. Chances are they'd bring their gift and adapt and do wonders. I won't take anything away from them. Suffice to say, I think it's just too difficult to compare. So perhaps, there will need to have two categories for the best HC's. Early versus modern era. Maybe not. Maybe you're right. But the numbers don't favour the older generation guys in a direct comparison.
Players aren't any better today. They just train for it from the time they're six years old. If the old players lived today they would do the same and be even better then they were. That's why it's relative. If noone lifts weights their entire career it's the same as if everyone lifts weights in a different era. Oscar Robertson and Wilt Chamberlin would dominate in today's game . Pistol Pete would tear down today's defenses. People say the talent is better now. I would argue the opposite. With the crazy expansion of the league to 30 teams I would say the league diluted itself to the point of having lesser talent then the 60s. Prior to 65 or 66 when the league expanded to 14 teams the league consisted of 8 or 9 teams. To put that in perspective you would need to cut 2/3 of today's players. Imagine all the bench players not being good enough to play in the nba. Then to take it further only the top two players on every team would be good enough to start in an 8 team league. In an 8 team league pretty much every game is against an all star roster. There are no scrubs.
Pop and Duncan are special. No doubt about it. *Of course the Rockets are #2 on that list. Great ownership and culture.*
