Well, I’ll tell you this after research, none of our players are gonna feel like some site members.. they’re gonna respect him and they ain’t gonna say sh## about him.
We know very little of the guy other than he gets his players to run through a wall for him. So if he is like Sparano with a more aggressive playbook then we got a coach.
Do we know that? Id be interested in hearing about what the players think of him. Everything I have read is he is an unbelievable guy. Just a great guy. Unfortunately that doesn't have anything to do with being an NFL head coach....Hearing Damien Williams say that the reason he turned up a notch was because Rizzi motivated him is different than a player loving a coach because of their demeanor. If you have something different please link if you can. I am interesting in learning more about him...
Dude I don’t know how he’s gonna turn out I’m just gathering info so we can all come to our own conclusions, if he’s being miss represented I’m gonna try to diss spell those false narratives.. I still don’t know what we have but I do feel that he’s a tough quality human that has compassion.. That’s at least a start.. His players says great things about him as a man..those things I know as true..
#1 is a big one. Too much faulty causation with any coaching hire discussion. “No head coach has ever won a Super Bowl with 2 different teams!” Of course not, it’s an incredibly difficult task to do it with 1. Doesn’t mean a head coach who has won a Super Bowl with another team is less likely to win because of that fact. “No New England assistant has ever had any success!” It’s a pretty small sample size and like you said - most coaches fail. Just being a New England assistant doesn’t automatically set them up to fail. I don’t have a horse in this race I don’t care enough anymore, just pointing out the statistical error in some of these arguments. I will say that if you wanted to make a statistically sound argument against a New England assistant you could point out padded stats due to cheating...
If it's out there, we could cherry pick good or bad things about any potential HC. The most important thing to me is the culture change that I believe Flores will be bringing. That is something we can do regardless of our current talent. Hopefully, Grier will hit on a couple of drafts, and then we will be cooking with gas. The winning formula for me is: a culture of superior work ethic and putting the team first, talent, coaches that are great teachers, x's and o's.
Link? I mean...What an amazing well thought out thorough opinion on your part! Literally on the level of an Ervin Laszlo in terms of philosophical abilities! Nikola Tesla would be highly impressed with this response. "Another poor hiring" WOW! My mind is blown! There's no possible way you could elaborate any further on this is there? Maybe after you finish your juice box?
Whenever I watch videos of Flores, I can't help but notice that the people around him are all looking in different directions when he's speaking to them. Some have their head down, others are looking away, not making eye contact. In videos I've seen of Richard, when he's speaking to a group of players they're all making eye contact with him. They don't have their heads down, even when they're being scolded. They're locked in. Obviously this could be totally untrue and I don't know much about either guy or have a preference...but it's interesting anyway.
I don't think you understand the word "skew". My point was that going strictly off of winning % is not going to give you good picture of a coach. Of course it matters, but so do a lot of other things. Frankly, anyone who thinks Caldwell is a bad coach doesn't really know what they're talking about.
Did you watch last nights game? Did you see the part where Richard was yelling at the LB's? Not a one of them looked at him in the eyes. I'm not sure that means anything at all. By all accounts both Richard and Flores are highly respected by the players.
Literally every person within 10 feet is locked in, even non-players. Like I said, I don't know much about either guy. They could both be awesome, or bad. Just think its interesting how everyone seems engaged with Richard.
I don't know anything about the guy so, no strong opinion one way or the other. I guess his entire career with Miami hinges on who he can get for coordinators and assistants. I just don't see any big name established coordinators following him to Miami. Just like with Philbin and Gase we're likely to see a bunch of on the job training. Time will tell. I would have liked to see one of the Harbaughs wade through a pile of Ross's money to take the job.
[ Frankly, anyone who thinks Caldwell is a bad coach doesn't really know what they're talking about.
Caldwell is 2-4 in the playoffs. I don’t like him as a head coach for miami
Caldwell is 2-4 in the playoffs. I don’t like him as a head coach for miami
He is not going to be a head coach for Miami.
Really worried about coordinators if they go to super bowl it’s super thin already we could have a great coach but our coordinators may be our weakness
Culture chang? It's the same crap we heard about the gase hiring. Everybody yapping about how he would change the "culture". I don't see anything special in Flores that would make me think he is going to turn this team into a competitor.
He is not going to be a head coach for Miami.
Right. Why is anyone bringing up Caldwell as a head coach when pertaining to be an offensive coordinator. I thought there was more football knowledge on this board than that.
LOL, dude. Do you think anyone knows how this is going to turn out? As I have pointed out before. We have hired experienced head coaches, football gurus, and non-experienced head coaches and have gotten the same mediocre results. It's your prerogative to take the glass half empty approach, but I am going to do the opposite and try and find the positives.
Why? If Flores is the guy, and he's presented coordinator options, and he's got a few guys committed, how will their playoff success affect that?
Right. Why is anyone bringing up Caldwell as a head coach when pertaining to be an offensive coordinator. I thought there was more football knowledge on this board than that.
Does that answer your question?
Currently you like Rizzi, right? He literally has LESS experience in all NFL football matters than Flores. Let's compare NFL experience: Darren Rizzi I have a strange feeling that you liked Rizzi only because you know, deep down, that he would be a dumb choice and not the pick and when he wasn't chosen you could find something else to complain about.
Does that answer your question?
I wasn't calling for him to be our new HC. However, I do think he would be a better choice for a number of teams and he'd be a great pick as an OC for the Dolphins.
Head Coach for Miami. I wasn't calling for him to be our new HC. However, I do think he would be a better choice for a number of teams and he'd be a great pick as an OC for the Dolphins.
And i was just saying i wouldnt want him as a head coach. Not that we were getting him as hc. Seems like a good oc tho
you can’t blame some of us for being skeptical about flores? Why would new england let him go? And if he comes here and does well. We will all worship him.
I understand bob kraft has plenty of money to keep him on a winning team. Unless he is determined to be a head coach and he is that good?
Being skeptical is fine. But at least do it with something better than what I'm reading. Not one single person here has any idea how Flores will be as a HC. However, the smart people will give him a chance, look at the things that are objective, and not bash him before he's even announced as the HC.
If you, for some reason, are under the impression that this team isn't going to flat out suck for a few years then you're going to have a bad time.
Im just going to throw this out there... Marty Mornhinweg is available for offensive coordinator. His resume... Offensive coordinator of 49ers 1997 - #5 ranked scoring offense 1998 - #3 ranked scoring offense 1999 - #22 ranked scoring offense *(injured Steve Young/backup Jeff Garcia)* 2000 - #6 ranked scoring offense Offensive coordinator of Eagles 2006 - #6 ranked scoring offense 2007 - #17 ranked scoring offense 2008 - #6 ranked scoring offense 2009 - #5 ranked scoring offense 2010 - #3 ranked scoring offense 2011 - #8 ranked scoring offense 2012 - #29 ranked scoring offense *(injured Mike Vick & rookie Nick Foles)* Offensive coordinator of Jets *(Geno Smith as QB...enough said)* 2013 - #29 ranked scoring offense 2014 - #28 ranked scoring offense Offensive coordinator of Ravens 2016 - #21 ranked scoring offense 2017 - #9 ranked scoring offense 2018 - #13 ranked scoring offense So, sixteen seasons as an offensive coordinator...Nine of them resulted in a top 10 offense. Maybe more if it weren't for the Geno Smith years. Give Marty a decent quarterback, and we'll have a top 10 offense. Compare all of that to Jim Caldwell as offensive coordinator in NFL... Ravens coordinator in 2012 - #10 ranked scoring offense. Ravens coordinator in 2013 - #25 ranked scoring offense. Thats pretty much Caldwell's experience as an offensive coordinator.
