Maybe he'll be the first real success story out of all the guys that have left New England to be a head coach? It feels like they decided to gamble on the longest odds here. Genius move if he works out, as you could have a coach for decades to come. I need to see who he gets as OC/DC and Special Teams coach. Rizzi is probably gone, as you can't interview and then accept working for a guy with much less experience than yourself, right?
Nooooooooooooo A linebacker coach? Can we get somebody with some decent experience? Richard over him any day. And b.b. cast offs never do good on their own? I refust to believe this. Till it actually happens. Hows a linebacker coach going to get good staff? Good team begins with the coach imo. flores is a gamble?
Color me sckeptical. We would have been better off keeping Gase vs going after a long shot with no head coaching or coordinator experience.
Just to clarify, no deal is made yet and nothing can become official until the Patriots are done playing this year.
Miami has a LB coach coming in as there head coach. Gase is in the playoffs next year. Can't wait to see this board in a year.
Bill belichick tree of coaches have all sucked! And a linebackers coach to boot! Ross sell the ****ing team because you are a clueless football idiot!
Flores called the defensive plays during games this year. He was basically the defensive coordinator.
No doubt. Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcels, Nick Saban all taught me that. Everyone of them fooled me into thinking we had a long term viable solution and every one of them left me disappointed. I like Flores as a person. I think the players will too and play hard for him.
I'm torn. I'd be thrilled to see the Chargers win this Sunday, but given more time Miami can ponder their coach selection. The very worst case is the Pats go the Super Bowl again and Miami has to pick through the scraps for an OC/DC and Special Teams coaching staff for Flores. Actually the worst might be waiting all that time and then Flores says, "Nevermind, I'm staying in New England." That would be fun.
My whelm couldn't be any more under with this hire. FFS, I gave Grier the benefit of the doubt but this... this just stinks to high heaven. Just when you think that the organisation might have learned from past mistakes, this happens and it's like Groundhog Day. This organisation will NEVER learn, NEVER....EVER. Man, I hope he makes me eat my words but I'd put my last dollar on that he won't.
You’d make a great poster on FinHeaven...can the guy get even a season under his belt before we assume the worst? Grab yourself a cold one and relax.
Not thrilled as Steve wilks was chosen over him in AZ and Belichick didn’t promote him last year when Patricia left...but give this guy a damn season. Worst case scenario could be the best case scenario. He’s so awful that we get a top pick to get a QB and he’s one and done like Wilks.
BB disciples haven't shown sh- in this league as head coaches and I wanted the choice to be Richard. One thing's for sure though, the Dolphins are looking for a head coach who actually leads men and isn't overly fixated on one side of the ball or beefing with players.
I dont know enough about the guy, or who he plans to bring on, to have an opinion one way or another. That being said, I was warming up to Kris Richard... so maybe Flores will impress once we get to know more too.
So they call the Pats our division rival and get glowing reviews from the guy and trust that. They probably want us to hire him knowing he’s ok but not head coaching material and they know they can beat us easily with him at the helm. If he was that coveted wouldn’t you refuse the let him interview as you may be needing a new coach soon and this talents stud is on your team already? I know that’s not how it works but I don’t trust New England and the guy looks like a stuck up black Adam Gase. I hope the hell im wrong but I really wanted Richards and his positive motivational coaching methods over this guy
Something to consider about Flores....he has been involved in virtually every facet of a football team from the scouting side to the coaching side. And even with the coaching, he's been involved with all 3 units.
Next you will hear we’re going to keep Ryan another year he’s under contract and no one we can get would be better.
We're all fans and most of us will follow the team until we're no longer here, but to save yourselves from heartache don't expect different results. Say it with me now: "Our fortunes will change once we see ownership change."
I mean there's an anomaly to every rule, so maybe this guy is the anomaly to the BB coaching tree rule. Gotta say I was expecting more though.
Best case: He is an outstanding coach who gets the team further along than we expect Worst case: He's terrible and we stock up on top 5 draft choices for a few years It's win-win scenario either way imo
I can't help but wonder if Miami leaked this info so Flores could start calling OC's, DC's and all the other coaches he'd like to have with him to get a handshake commitment. I have to say I was excited about the possibility of Richard because he coached the Legion of Boom and Miami has a pretty good DB group that can be coached up. Flores was my number 2 from the Miami list. Both these guys are the types to get players to give there all for them. Leaders that you'd want to go into battle for. We will see what happens after this weekend if LA wins.
