We were more than set at DE and WR when the season started, my concern was the OL depth. Now all this. Take away Wilson and his big plays, and how good does the Gase offense look? That said, I still want to trade Parker. I'll keep Drake out at WR for depth if need be. Having Drake and Gore on the field together for most of the snaps is not the worst idea ever.
At least we sort of have a "next man up" for Wilson with Grant. But now that there's only one super speedster out there, it makes him less effective. We have to get him the ball in space somehow to let him do his thing.
Hey, a pulled groin can sometimes only take a few days to heal up (I know from personal experience). That's actually very good news. Did anyone else feel terrible for the security guard he leveled? It wasn't his fault and he was pushed from behind just a few steps from her, but that really stunk. Hoping she's okay too.
That sucks. We just can't have nice things. Proved to be a great offseason addition, he's really been the main catalyst on offense, can likely put 3 of our wins on him. Two at least with Chicago and Oakland, can probably throw the Jets game in there too IIRC. Guy is just special if given some space. I know this will likely get misconstrued in here, but this offense has really proven to have had really good potential as a unit. Now, it's really in shambles with injuries. I wish we could have seen this offense evolve and really come together in good health. Losing Sitton has hurt the running game, and pass blocking (which overall hasn't been too bad, outside of a half in Cincy, and the NE game), Kilgore/Swanson I'm not sure has been a huge change, but still, anytime you lose continuity on the OL it hurts. I just really wish we could see what this offense would look like healthy, and with consistent, above average QB play. Injuries happen, everyone deals with them, next man up, etc. etc. I get it. I just can't help but wonder though, if this unit could have stayed healthy, and get better QB play than it has, what could it have evolved into? I see KC/NE type offense. A QB could really open this current unit up to that potential. We have the speedy playmakers like KC. We lack the QB. We lack the OL. We lack a fluid gameplan, but good QB play can overcome alot of that. To be where they are lacking an effective trigger man for the offense, a poor run blocking OL, says something IMO. The cool thing to do right now is bash Gase, I get that, and I'm not thrilled with him either. How can you be when you look at our offensive ranks? I think they're onto something though with the group they've put together that really could work and lead to a good offense. We just need the QB, and a WR who can consistently stretch the field more. The potential is there, we just need the key to unlock it. Whether that's the HC, the QB, or both, it's got to get resolved. So does the health issue of this team on an yearly basis. Either way, going into a short week without Wilson and likely some other key guys on a week after being gashed by Detroit, is setting up a Gase's Dolphins specialty prime time blowout for Thursday.
I hope we trade Parker regardless. I'd rather bring up Carroo off the PS, or whoever else is there than give this guy a chance here. He's been a softy ever since he showed up. His agent can talk him up and act like he's tough, and the victim all he wants, but this isn't a this year thing between Parker and Gase, this has been Parker's entire career in the NFL at this point. It's been the talk about him since day 1. As far as I'm concerned, he's never wanted to be here. He would have preferred to be in.. Cleveland was it? Wasn't the the story or something to that effect during the draft? Whatever... get rid of him. If he blows up somewhere else, good for them, it's not going to happen for him here, and that's all on Parker IMO.
After settling down it’s occurred to me...and it’s been eluded to already, we’ve had more than our fair share of injuries the past few seasons. Think it’s definitely time to take a good hard look at the training staff. There’s no reason we should keep having this many injuries every season
I cant believe the amount of injuries this team has gone through already this year. We have lost 5 starters for the year and we aren't even at the halfway point. That doesn't even count all the guys that have been hurt and missed multiple games. At what point do we start to question the competence of the Training Staff? Something is really starting to stink out of that group.
How do you train for a hip being jammed because he planted wrong? How do you train for a shoulder being hit and it causing an injury? How do you train for a torn rotatory cuff? If it was hamstrings, groins or even muscle strains but the injuries received outside of Kilgores have been "hit" related.
I'm not a trainer so I don't have an answer. But I do know we have been bit by the injury bug pretty hard the last three years it seems maybe longer. I know every team deals with injuries but not like we have been. Nutrition? Strength training? Who the hecks knows but from the face of it something does not look right.
It could be as simple as the heat and humidity. Players get tired faster and it leads to more injuries.
From PFT Dolphins receiver Albert Wilson, a free-agent arrival who has become a key offensive contributor, has a hip injury. Per a league source, the injury won’t require surgery. But that doesn’t mean Wilson will be fine in the near future. According to the source, Wilson is likely heading to injured reserve, in order to give him time to heal. Wilson joined the Dolphins as a free agent after four years with the Chiefs. He was on pace for career highs in receptions and yardage, and he already score more touchdowns (four) than he ever has in any other year of his career. If placed on IR, he’ll be eligible to return later in the year, if the Dolphins are still in the playoff chase.
We may have lost him for the season, but I am relieved to hear he will not require surgery at this point. That means he did not tear any of the structure in the hip. Still Sucks.
