I honestly don't feel like posting this today because- well, you know. That was painful to watch. We are officially in trouble on both sides of the ball due to injured linemen...haven't we heard this story a thousand time before? I'll try to avoid the doom and gloom though to focus on being objective.

Why'd we lose this game? The simple answer is that we were dominated in the trenches. But more than that, it was plainly obvious today that we have zero identity on offense. We're not a run team and honestly, we're not a passing team either. We still are running the ball on 2nd and long and we're still throwing passes short of the sticks on 3rd down. I just don't get it...I can't understand this offense at all and what Gase is trying to do.

I will say this though- I saw a Ryan Tannehill today that was simply off. He has a history of letting the pressure get the better of him in big games and he just wasn't as accurate as he needs to be. I counted 5 deep passes in the first half that could have been touchdowns, but we simply missed all 5 times with a relatively clean pocket. I don't know if he's rushing the pass, not stepping into the throw properly...I'll let a QB expert tell us that. But I saw something in RT today that has always bothered me back 3-5 years ago; there's something with his presence in these types of games that just feels off. it's almost like he's thinking too hard and reacting a beat too slow.

I complained in the live chat about the penalties today (or lack of when it comes to the Pats) but that's really not worth talking about. It did set the tone early when the refs happened to overlook Howard being pushed/illegally blocked on two TD passes yet they saw it every time when he made slight contact. It's mind boggling how one-sided the calls are for the Pats. For instance, look at Gisecki's attempt at a catch along the sidelines in the 2nd quarter...the defender literally is holding his arm behind him and the ref is one foot away staring at it....yet Miami gets called for holding in a different part of the field. No flag for Gisecki.

Going into next week, Gase needs to quickly figure out this team's identity on offense and how we're going to move the football. On D, we need to figure out how to stop the run with 2nd string interior linemen. That's a lot to ask in a short amount of time- call me officially worried. What a difference seven days (and several key injuries) make...

Usually I'd be the one on here to tell you guys that the sky isn't falling, it's only one game, etc. And it's important to remember that other teams aren't like playing the Pats in NE, so I'm trying to take this loss with a grain of salt. But this one hurts and I don't know if we'll be able to rebound from it in a single week. There's a ton of stuff to figure out.

I agree with all of your points/complaints. The Phins looked flat from the kickoff. It is still just one game. We are 3-1. Time for the men to go to work.

A very harsh lesson for all concerned.

It seems that the three wins against poor teams - no disrespect intended - have obviously masked how bad the Dolphins are. The excuse of injuries can only go so far.

Even last week’s victory, against a team that is losing at half-time to the Browns, was a struggle and it will be interesting to see how the whole organisation reacts to this setback.

Well here's some light-hearted trivia. The biggest loss any SB winner ever had was Oakland in 1976 losing in their 4th game of the season to.. the NE Patriots. They lost 17-48 by 31 points. And we lost today by 31 points. Oakland also started 3-0 before that lol.

EDIT: actually that was the 2nd biggest loss ever, but still.

Titans are 3-1 and a road division game is no gimmie. The Raiders do stink though I'll give you that.

I’d forgotten that we’d played the Titans in week 1, and considering they beat the reigning Super Bowl Champions tonight that was a credible result.

How hard can you fight for your team when you see another 5 yard pass into tight coverage on 3rd and 20?

I honestly don't think the Pat's are better team, we got out coached. Starting these games 3 and out for the first 3-5 drives is not going to cut it.

This offense frankly sucks. That fact has been masked by a defense putting them in position with short fields and a couple of trick play's late in the game last week.

I am thoroughly disappointed in this coach and this offense.

This is on Gase. We’re a mentally and physically soft football team with a gimmicky, 5 yd passing offensive identity. At some point offensive lineman need to blow people off the ball, linebackers need to shed blocks and not overrun their lanes and Tannehill needs to step up, make a read and let it fly on time further than 5 yds.

The play calling doesnt cut it by any stretch. They keep showing these numbers that we are like 32% on third down conversions. Well when you are perpetually 3rd and 7 or WORSE I put it to you that the problem really lies on 1st or 2nd down! They are consistently off schedule and that is problems with the play calling as well as the fact that the oline may be decent pass blockers but now that Sitton is out they cant seem to run block at all.

I dont care what flashy thing any of you guys think we should draft next year in the first couple rounds, the fact is that until the front office invests in a couple top prospect INTERIOR linemen that it is never going to get any better. That problem has persisted for 10 years or more and since they dont seem to be capable of finding good linemen in the later rounds they are going to have to use the resources earlier.

NE came in to this game with one of the worst run Ds in the league this year. And we refused, refused I say, to run the ball. For why???

I was leaning towards saying they put a sedative in our Gatorade because it looked like they were half asleeep, but steeling/listening in on our plays calls is good, too. ;-)

Oh, and the day after an *** kicking like that sucks almost as bad having to watch it!

Why Gase continue to call plays?
What is so special about his play calling?
    3rd and 20 , 5 yards dump off
    We missed Jones.
Howard is good, but need discipline
Haaa here comes the fans, favorite RT17
I don’t know man, he just doesn’t have it for me , he doesn’t make anyone better, Most of his throws look weak.

We needed to lose that game, to not get too cocky .
Josh Gordon will be a complete stud for NE if he can take care of himself.
This dolphins teams need a gunslinger QB into another game.

hard to even dissect or peg that game since it took 3 days to finish (jk) with all the delays and what not that should just be an * for both teams.

Our OL still isn’t good, we still can’t run the ball and Tannehill looked like the Tannehill that’s driven us nuts since he got here.

I Like Gase but I think it's time he relinquished the play calling duties to Loggains. He called the 4th preseason game if I remember and the offense had better rhythm.

Speaking of Belichick, I wouldn't put it past the guy to have made it easier for Osweiler to get that TD so that there's a greater chance we start him instead of Tannehill. I mean.. that would hurt us long term even more, the game was in hand already and Belichick is cunning, so it's not totally out of the question lol.

I'm interested to see if Gase rolls out the same game plan for the Bengals, with no adjustments for press coverage. He could help protect the defense by keeping the offense on the field more and putting up 20+ points. In other words, you can hide defensive issues with a better offense. I now have serious doubts about Gase though.

I want to thank my daughter from pulling me out from the 1st Quarter to go to the park and enjoy some outside time and spare me from watching the game. The negative side of me is worried that now NE will roll for the rest of the season and not look back (it has happened before) and that the Dolphins won't recover and sputter for the rest of the season (it has happened before). I truly believed that we might win this game but at minimum have a well fought game that ended relatively close. Even if they won by 14 I might have been okay with that. 28-14 seems better. Maybe. But it was a lot worse.

Now I feel the next game is really the deciding factor though. If we can recover and play well and actually win then we are still in first place. Depending on how we play is key. If we trick play our way to another win I will be more nervous. I think we need a game that we win the time of possession and ground out some yardage without big plays. The run game is really bad right now and that has to get better. If we can compete I think we are okay and my confidence will be partly restored.

I just don't get how yesterday could have happened. Did Belichick find the Dolphins playbook in the trash? I don't understand how 18 years of Belichick figuring it out has happened without anyone figure him out. I thought Gase might have the plan and was waiting to unleash it yesterday. No way - not even close. I have doubts that we can beat them in Miami.

It wasn't anything sinister. It is a well coached team with talented players who know what they're doing and how they do it. Not magic. Just vision and execution, vs the garbage we see from the Dolphins year after year after year.

I wonder if Cowher would like to get back into coaching?
